Found Deceased MN - Kara Blevins, 27, pregnant, Akeley, 2 Feb 2018

Are we allowed to repost flyers here if they are from Locate The Missing/MissingCases FB page, or share the additional info from the flyers?

Wasn't sure so wanted to be sure to ask first?

I believe so, I have. I don't think they have been deleted.
Provided the link is good. Unapproved links have **** in the address blocking.

Has uploaded a (I think) new missing persons flyer with Karas Photos.

It says:

-Last seen at 5pm Feb 2nd on Howard Lake Road (which is apparently right on the Cass and Hubbard County line)

-Recently dyed her hair reddish brown
(So the photo of her with the reddish hair is more recent/accurate than others with blonde hair)

- 5'9 and 170 lbs

-In addition to white scarf and no gloves or hat, she had a light grey colored coat and dark pants

If you look up Howard Lake Road, it runs adjacent to a lake (Howard Lake) is approximately 2 miles long and dead-ends on one side.

Oh no .... MissMalowe is exactly right .... Directions from Akeley to Howard Lake Road:
https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Ake...5044772!2m2!1d-94.7269509!2d47.004125!1m0!3e2

I also noticed the flyer says, "She is due in May and there is extreme cause for concern due to her medical condition and the extremely cold weather."

The "medical condition" may very well be pregnancy-related, but perhaps there may be mental health concerns also. Being pregnant and looking after two little ones can be very stressful, especially when you are the only parent present. The shorter days, less sunlight, and cold weather don't help, either.

Please come home to your little ones, Kara!

We r forming a search party for Kara. If anyone is in the area u r welcome to come help. Thanks

I really hope the Sheriff sets up a dog search soon. And a search of the lake as well! Sunset wasn't until about 5:30 on Feb. 2, so it'd be hard to think she accidentally wandered into the lake, but you just never know. I do wonder how they know she was picked up by someone in a car?

Edit: Obviously it's winter in MN, and the lake is likely frozen (I can't say for sure on the thickness of ice since I don't live nearby). I wonder if she tried to walk across the frozen lake?

I wish that I could help but don't live near you. Good luck with the search, and I will be praying for Kara's safe return.

Are there houses up and down this road? Did someone pick her up in a car?

The road seemed to be appx 2 miles long (this is an approximate guess as Iam not great with the extra tools in Google maps, to include the measuring tool from a fixed point on the map)

The area I was looking at on that road (I believe I was looking at a home selling site vs Google maps which provided some aerial views) did seem to have houses, many with docks out to Howard Lake) Not sure if this entire road is lined with houses though.

Are they saying they believe she was picked up? Or is that an error? If they believe her to have been picked up it would explain why LE is not out there searching.

Howard lake is or at least used to be a place that many people I know would go to their cabins during the summer. Some people live there full time, but then some don't. So, I am sure that there are many homes that are vacant this time of year. I wonder if LE is searching them to check for break ins, etc... Could she have taken refuge in someone's cabin in an emergency?

I wonder why Cass County is taking over? Akeley is in Hubbard County.

I wonder why Cass County is taking over? Akeley is in Hubbard County.

It might be due to staffing. While both are fairly low in population, Cass County has a population almost 30 % bigger than Hubbard so I would imagine they have more resources.

After reading the other day that the area Kara was last seen was on the border of Cass and Hubbard county, I checked Cass County's FB page to see if info regarding her being missing had been posted there. (Thus, to see if there was any interesting comments as well) At that time, there was nothing posted.

Checked again today after the Cass County takeover announcement, and there's still nothing on their FB page regarding Kara Blevins.

Long time lurker (I'm probably not up to snuff when it comes you guys' sleuth skills), but I made an account because I'm from the area. Not Akeley, but Nevis, which is right across the pond, so to speak. I didn't know the lady personally, but we attended the same high school, and I think she graduated with one my younger brothers.

From what I can gather (and this is just what was flying around in the local cafe this morning, so take it with a grain of salt), they know she accepted a ride because that was the final text to her mom. Something like, "Never mind, I found a ride."

It would also be very easy to disappear from Akeley, or a lot of the surrounding towns. People aren't exactly out and about in the middle of winter. It's been like a ghost town lately where I live.
