It's about an hour drive from Maddi's Winona address to the Fravel family home on County Rd 18 where I believe the children were taken into state custody.
According to AF he was gone in Maddi's van for three and a half hours (10:00 AM to 1:30 PM) So an hour there, an hour back, that leaves an hour and a half unaccounted for.
We know for certain a van matching the description of Maddi's van was seen on a security camera heading away from Winona on Hwy 43 and then returning later in the opposite direction during the time frame AF likely had the van. IIRC Maddi's sister said the video of the van was from a store in Rushford, which is south of Winona about 30 minutes. LE should know the exact times when the van was recorded on video going in both directions. From that LE should be able to narrow the window of time to know how far the van could have traveled from where the van was captured on video if driven at the normal speed limits.
Cell phone data would also be very useful. If AF was driving the van that matched the description of Maddi's van seen on video and AF had a cell phone. Data from the cell phone and what towers the phone was connecting to may show the route he took, where he may have stopped and how long of time he spent where he went. The cell phone data could also be used to corroborate what he may have told investigators regarding his whereabouts during that time.
If AF said he was in one area of Minnesota during a given time, but his cell phone places him somewhere else during that time, it wouldn't look very good on his part.
