This guy was just all over the place with the mental illness. I am trying to put reason to his actions where likely no reason is to be found. Citing Nazi rhetoric seems to go against everything that this guy built his life around. None of it makes sense.

I agree with the premise that most of these school shooter types are of the "going down in a blaze of glory" mindset. It seems that its is no longer a simple as one wishing to commit suicide but a desire to go out of this world making sure that everyone knows their name. There seems to be so many issues at work here. I don't know how society combats all of these.

Only because depending on their belief system, they might have been loving and peaceful people and attended church regularly and he was starting to rebel against the upbringing ?
It would appear the parents and siblings were supportive of Robin.
I haven't been able to find out otherwise.
Not everyone has the privilege of a good or loving family.
My point is there was no excuse for such actions.

This murderer is coming across as an injustice collector who felt rage against others.
Why in god's name target little children, though ?

If the shooter idolized past rampage killers that is a huge problem to me , due to the way the media treats this -- almost like the criminal is a celebrity.
Like, here are photos of the killer-- past and present, the manifesto, the journals/videos, etc.
This inspires losers to copycat such foul deeds.

People on a downward spiral who feel the only way to make their point is to harm and kill others !
The worst of the worst to target innocents.
Agree with other posters that we know more bout the killer than the victims and that's sad.

Seems like this person has been profoundly mentally ill for a very long time. As many times as this paradigm plays itself out I am still just stunned that there is no way to ensure these folks get the help they need nor to prevent people who are exhibiting these obvious red flags from purchasing guns. It seems stupid that I am even posting this it is so obvious.

This is what I don’t get. If they were overtly antisemitic to the degree that is being reported, why did they choose to kill catholic children and not Jewish children?

To me, all that Hail Hitler stuff is to garner shock and attention. I really don’t think they believe it. If they did, they’d be a Neo Nazi. However, due to their gender issue the Neo Nazi’s would not be putting out the welcome mat for them. And…they would have found themselves in a Concentration Camp during WW2 for the same reason.

They have NO CONVICTION for their cause. All that “stuff” is attention seeking garbage. They want a reaction. They didn’t get it. They have it now and they can’t even enjoy it.

What a waste of air and space.

Where is the information coming from that he had his own apartment?

An earlier article upthread said a neighbour (of the parents) said three people lived in the house, parents and a son. I assumed it was Robin.

here's a link to the info about his apartment. i don't think he lived in this apartment with his family... but, i could be wrong.

I’m not sure why the person is referred to as he/they when she is, legally, a female. It’s disappointing to see people here - a place that prides itself on being a place for reasoned, civil discussion - bickering about he/they/she instead of the actual slaughter of children. By court order, she is female. If you want to refer to her by her non-legal gender, virtually any other platform or news article comment section will meet your needs.

evidently, this murderer had his own apartment... did he have a job, was he a student. how was he able to purchase all the weapons and ammo as i doubt they were cheap. did he have some sort of financial assistance paying for his lifestyle... whatever that was.

Do we know that the murderer had an apartment or did his mother live in an apartment and the shooter lived there with her? If the shooter had an apartment, then I agree, we need to find out who paid the rent and utilities, etc. It doesn't sound like the shooter held down a job, other than three months at a marijuana dispensary. Where has the shooter worked, if anywhere, since graduating high school? Were his parents enabling him to live like this?

The point here in relation to this murderer is that the Ode to Joy is full of light and love and beauty and goodness and faith that is the total opposite of what the murderer stood for with the murderer's "ode to death" and destruction.
