MN- Minneapolis, mass shooting at church, multiple fatalities, possible explosive device found. Aug 2025

“I know we have not been successful in talking to the shooter’s mother yet at this time,” O’Hara said. “But there continue to be efforts made to get that done.”

This is concerning.
I wonder if the mother has “lawyered up” or if there’s a more innocuous reason, like grief. MOO

Good observations.
Maybe both reasons ? ^^^

At this time and unless more information comes to light, I consider the family of the shooter to be victims as well.
The entire family is going to be under a microscope for some time, and imo that's unfair considering that they they prob. did nothing to provoke the murders, who knows, maybe they tried to be helpful & supportive ?
Imo.

I’m going to suggest that she has obtained legal representation.

That phrasing is very intentional.

As for the shooter, she bought the weapons legally we are told. Why did Minnesota's red flag laws fail to identify a clearly troubled individual?

Does anyone even know if his mother is alive? I mean, he did have Lanza's name on one of his magazines.

I think one of the early articles mentioned a reporter having spoken to the mother shortly after the attack

I read that the mother and father were divorced after 25 years of marriage and that the mother's condo in Naples, FL, was searched by the FBI yesterday. Here's one link:

I hate to say it, but when I read upthread investigators haven't been able to speak with her, I immediately wondered if she was still alive. JMO

I've seen that she has a place in Naples, and this has already been in the MSM:

"Police have not been able to reach the suspect's mother, Mary Grace Westman, who previously worked at the school and has not responded to law enforcement's attempts to contact her."

This probably can't be easy for the mother, but it's been 24 hours.. it's about time you talk to LE. IMHO.

No doubt LE did immediate wellness checks on immediate family.

My guess, she obtained legal counsel and eventually a public statement will be made/read.

Despite the inflated prose and flowery script saying otherwise, the shooter chose actions guaranteed to destroy lives, not excluding those closest to home.

Unchecked evil.

She could be in deep shock and not medically fit to speak to anyone.

Has anyone heard from her? Do we know she is still living? Given what the perpetrator did, I hope he didn't also kill his mother beforehand. (Speculation)

ETA Ah I see this has been addressed above.

This might be reaching a a bit, but do we know for sure that she bought them in Minnesota?

I can only imagine the nightmare that it is for this family. Every family member will be intensely interviewed by the FBI. I have a feeling that they all knew that Robin was troubled. How much did they know and who knew about all of the weapons and ammunition?

Those reports are almost always unfounded. Nothing new in that regard though.
Hey Mass Guy.. Pat from Twitter..
Side note but I really like that he repeats the question before answering it. Its sometimes so hard to hear the question being asked.
The hard of hearing thank you!

That could be the case, but most families in a situation like this want to do whatever they can to show their cooperation with authorities out of respect and empathy for the families of the dead and injured and to show their own horror at what their family member did. And to make it clear that in no way do they condone what their child did.

Agreed with all of this, and very well said !

Emphasis mine.
Agreed with entire post.

In that specific (bolded) area, LE will surely want to take an intense look, and may have uncomfortable questions ?
I.e.,
  • Who bought the weapons ?
  • Who paid for them, as guns --even used ones -- aren't cheap.
  • For how long did they know R.W. was becoming unhinged ?
  • Had they tried to warn LE but were rebuffed ?
That last point may work in the families' favor, imo.

I will not fault law enforcement either for digging deeply into this.
Two precious little lives are dead.
Murdered.
Their families in grief and maybe anger, and who can blame them ?
Imo.
