MN- Minneapolis, mass shooting at church, multiple fatalities, possible explosive device found. Aug 2025

It's odd that MSM hasn't reported on any jobs that the shooter has had since graduating from high school quite a few years ago. As far as I have seen posted here, it has only been reported that the shooter worked at a marijuana dispensary for three months last year, IIRC. So how did the shooter pay rent? Where did the shooter get the money to buy the firearms, tactical vests, clothing, etc.?

It's possible that there's something we don't know about the mother that makes her guilty. It's also possible that she simply freaked out about the possibility of being held responsible and got an attorney unnecessarily.

There's a lot of people in this thread saying that she should have known and should have made a red flag report. But lots of eighth graders are loners who get detention a lot and lots of high schoolers have mental health problems and the vast majority of them don't turn out to be school shooters. You can't get someone banned from gun ownership for any of that. You have to show that they are currently an actual threat. We don't know if the mom knew about any of the social media stuff.

Minnesota's red flag law is relatively new (Jan 2024) and the mom may not even have known it existed. I could see lawyering up if I felt like I should have made a report in retrospect but didn't know at the time that I could have.

True. It's an absolutely overwhelming shock what happened. She is not the perpetrator and, imo, a victim as far as WS definitions. If we learn otherwise, that will be a different case. But from what we know now, she is a criminal's mother not the criminal.

MINNEAPOLIS — The heavily armed assailant who opened fire during Mass at a Minneapolis Catholic school was found dead at the rear of the church with an apparent gunshot wound to the head, according to preliminary information in newly released search warrants.

Robin Westman, 23, was found dressed in black "tactical" gear with at least two firearms nearby in Wednesday morning's rampage at Annunciation Catholic Church, police said. Two children were killed and 18 other worshippers were injured.

A search warrant for the church said three guns were taken into evidence: a Taurus semiautomatic pistol, a Mossberg pump-action shotgun, and a Magpul semiautomatic rifle. Police found a wood board with a gas container and a metal pull pin on the ground, according to the search warrant, items that may have been intended to be used as a smoke bomb...
Here’s the Magpul assault rifle web site. A very deadly military-style weapon

I've been reading many articles. So, I don't have a particular link, but I read where he worked at the marijuana dispensary until August 16th (if I'm not mistaken). I was thinking that it was about a week before the massacre that he was let go. A coworker said that he was let go because of tardiness and absenteeism. If I can find the article, I'll link it again. I'm assuming that is how he paid rent.

Another reminder. One day time out if you bring up the transgender issue in your post.
Thank you

Yeah, I’m on the fence regarding the mom. I’ll wait until we know more. It’s highly unlikely she had anything to do with this. She lives over 1,000 miles away. Her offspring was 23 years old, an adult. She’s being besieged by the media and some crazies.

No one attacked the mother of Patrick Joseph White, who killed officer David Rose while trying to kill employees of the US Centers For Disease Control headquarters because he wanted to kill the scientists working on the COVID 19 vaccine. She didn’t speak to the news media, either.

I’ll wait until the investigation is complete.

It’s possible MW not speaking with LE and not able to be located by them doesn’t mean her intention is to not cooperate but maybe because she didn’t want to speak with the authorities without having an attorney present and likely needed time to connect with and hire one, that sometimes takes a little time. I noticed it’s now been confirmed she has done so.

Hiring an Attorney imo doesn’t mean she knew anything about RW’s intentions to commit mass murder, was complicit or anything like that.
I imagine MW is likely very distraught over the evil her child perpetrated yesterday at Annunciation church. The shock alone may have rendered her speechless and/or not knowing what to say in the direct aftermath and may have decided to hire an Attorney to consult with for help with navigating things, LE’s questions, how to deal with the public, journalists’ questions, etc.

It’s my understanding RW didn’t even live with MW. MW may not have even been aware RW had amassed an arsenal of weapons nor about RW’s deep seated hatefulness uncovered in RW’s unhinged cruel hateful writings including writings about desire to kill little children. Awful the hate and cruelness RW spewed. While she may have known RW was struggling with mental health for a long time she may have had no idea about the extent to which RW had spiraled down into a very sick, twisted, hateful, extremist, with murderous rampage intentions. Just my personal thoughts about MW hiring an attorney and what she may or may not have known prior to yesterday’s atrocity unless or until more information is released.

As an adult, the impetus was on RW to have gotten the help/treatment RW obviously needed. You cannot force an adult to get help if they don’t want it. (even forcing a 5150/72 hour psychiatric hold doesn’t always get the desired results as once released from hold, noone can force the adult to continue treatment or to take medication).
RW professed knew self was sick and having bad thoughts and imo likely didn’t seek out help/treatment as the murderous plans might have been exposed during treatment.

At the end of the day, imo this sick twisted evil killer didn’t want help, was determined to carry out murderous plans and made a deliberate choice to commit mass murder of innocents praying in church. Doesn’t get much more disgusting and evil than that.

Thinking about the children, their families and all the victims of yesterday’s horrific tragedy.

Here's the latest from RW's journal blaming the killings on RW's mother. I really think that she wanted to help and discourage extreme solutions that may be regretted later. Very tragic. Again, this young person needed therapy; however, as an adult, RW would have to personally seek it out. Minneapolis gunman Robin Westman blamed massacre on mom warning him not to change gender— and discouraged people from letting their kids transition

What a horrible, awful, cruel piece of writing to leave behind for the mother to read. It's like flaying her open for public display.

I want to defy this shooter's cruelty and refuse to judge the mother.

The first thing that I thought was, "Yeah, it figures."

I have no doubt that the mother was doing her best to help a child that she loved.

In the drawing it depicts the shooter standing in front of a bathroom mirror with guns slung cross body style. And what is reflected is a demon. Is that demon Baphomet?
Not quite. Baphomet has feminine anatomy from the waist up.
This just looks like your standard monster/demonic figure.

Was there a recent case of a school shooter whose parents got jail time , i wonder if mom is worried about that angle
