GUILTY MN - Nicole Beecroft for murder of newborn, Oakdale, 10 April 2007

I can't even imagine who could do this. Something worse than a monster. I hope she NEVER gets out of prison. Sick.

Sweet Jesus! 135 stabs on a newborn???

My God, was there anything left of that poor, poor baby?

A new trial request from Nicole Beecroft, the now 21-year-old convicted of first-degree murder for the death of her newborn baby in 2007, was denied July 20.

Washington County District Judge Mary E. Hannon, who presided over Beecroft's murder trial, handed down the order denying the motion for a new trial. Beecroft requested her conviction be reversed and a new trial ordered, arguing she did not have a complete defense during the court proceedings in November 2008.

Kelly Mills, the principal assistant medical examiner for Washington County who performed the autopsy, concluded the baby was born alive and died from multiple stab wounds.

Defense attorneys, however, argued the infant was stillborn.

Although air in the infant's lungs and stomach, defense lawyers presented several different theories to refute that meant she was alive. They said the infant was born alive but died before she was stabbed; she inhaled air in the birth canal but was stillborn; or the air entered her stomach and lungs when the infant was stabbed, according to Hannon's order.

Now that Hannon issued her decision on the post-conviction hearing, Beecroft will forward her appeal to the Minnesota Supreme Court.

"It's totally out of our hands right now," Johnson said. "It's going to be up to the Supreme Court to decide what happens to her ... we expect the verdict is going to be upheld," he said.

This girl is a killer, and she is in the right place right now.

As much as it makes no sense to stab a newborn 135 times, it makes even less sense if she stabbed a stillborn baby 135 times. That's her defense? "I didn't kill my baby, I stabbed an already dead baby."

She needs to rot in jail

On Friday October 21, 2011, at 9:00 am, Ms. Beecroft was back in court in Washington County for an evidentiary hearingon whether she would be getting a new trial. I have not seen the court ruling on it yet.

The difference between stabbing the baby while alive and stabbing a stillborn baby is simple. Murder versus tampering with a corpse/concealing a birth. Life without parole or up to 5 years for concealing the birth. Tampering with a corpse is a misdemeanor in Minnesota.

As I was reading the different posts on Ms. Beecroft, I saw one that was speaking about her being held in an undisclosed state institution, followed by a comment about Shakopee being the only women's prison in Minnesota. To shed light on that is simple. She was caught planning an escape with her brother and was put into Ad Seg, awaiting an out of state transfer to either Oklahoma or Nebraska. The running joke was that if she thought being in prison in Minnesota was bad, she wasn't going to like life in either of those two states prisons.

During her brief stay in Shakopee, she was not liked at all. The women detested her. They were willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, until her mouth started running about the crime she was convicted of. Very disturbing stuff came out of her mouth. She became known as 'B.K.'. I am sure you can figure that one out. She had the doctors in the jail she as held at before the sentencing believing she was mentallin ill. Even in the prison she tried to get them to believe she was mentallly ill. She is not at all mentally ill. She is a girl who is MALINGERING. That is it and that is all. There were some doozies in there.

All just an FYI. Have good days!!!

But all it takes is for 1 stupid and gullible attorney to decided that they will be her "god" and help her to get a new trial. And then to connect with that 1 stupid and gullible judge... and all of you know that we have more than our fair share of stupid and gullible out there!!

I thought this psychopath stabbed the infant after seeing its finger move? That would indicate the infant was alive, right? Unless some Defense Attorney wants to spin it and say it was some sort of post-death-reflex.

pffftttt...

This thing planned to kill her newborn child at birth - that's quite obvious to me. A true nutter would only stab a child!

My opinion Only.

I totally agree with all the comments. I'm not defending her in the least. Her comments in the hospital are alarming, and, show a guilty woman. I wish her comments inside the prison would be looked at by the prosecution, and then they could subpoena anyone and everyone she spoke to.

Where she might get the new trial is the prosecution sending those silly e-mails. He knew better than to send them. But, everyone has the right to their day in court. Ugh..... I wish the prosecution was going to bring in some more well-known experts in pediatric forensic pathology. That might help them if she gets a new trial. They need all the help they can get at this point. With the tampering done in the original trial, they will scrutinize everything.

Keep your fingers crossed that justice prevails!!! Great days to you!!!

I feel there is a little girl who would be in school or pre-k, coming home to loving adoptive parents...if she hadn't been killed. No punishment is too harsh, in my mind.

But how is she caring about herself and selfishly taking care of herself by stabbing the baby so many times and throwing the baby away? The selfish only caring about herself course of action would be to take advantage of the 3-day law and get on with her life, never to be bothered by the baby again. The mentally ill course of action would be to do what she did and end up in prison and ruin the rest of her life.

I am interested to hear more about what law enforcement finds out.

Good points.

I also want to point out that in other cases of teen pregnancy, they have usually had the child then immediately abandoned it. The child usually from exposure or smothering.

The fact that she stabbed it and stabbed it so many times I think does indicate either great rage or some type of mental illness.

The murder was horrific & she never shed a tear, no remorse / no nothing / possibly hostility for her Mom. The Dad of Nikki had went to the house yrs ago & had a gun & was going to kill them all. So maybe the defense will be insanity / using the Dad as an example.

I'm not really surprised to hear the girl has come from a background of domestic violence.

The case reminds me of another discussed here, where a 15 yo stabbed her baby with scissors and put the body in a box under her bed...

So many young girls having babies, and killing them.. why? What's causing this behaviour? It isn't normal or balanced to murder your infant, unless there's some deep and all consuming problem going on.

Are these girls just so terrified of the stigma/parental rejection/abuse, social rejection, whatever, that they lose thier wits? Or is it that PPP is far more common in teenagers than adults?

My own girl (14) sat me down for a serious talk about boyfriends, sex, contraception (yes, she sat -me- down, ha) because she had just agreed to date her first boyfriend and she thought we'd better talk it through thoroughly. Ofc, we've had the birds and bees talk long ago, but this was her letting me know she's fully aware of herself and the responsibilities of dating. She said she plans to marry before having sex, even though we're not religious at all. She feels it's just how she wishes to honour her body and heart. "Okay" I said, "That's a bit over the top in my opinion, but I support your choice" and then we laughed about that, how different we are in opinions. We also talked about how pregnancy happens, despite anyone's best intentions, why contraception is important if you're dating, even celibately, and what we'd do about an unplanned pregnancy (not that, she vowed, she ever would, but best have a plan of action just in case!)

.....all that's by way of perspective, in how some families can be open and honest and relaxed about these things, and communicate in a healthy way so the kids have a healthy mind about it. I am betting the farm this girl felt she could not talk to her parents at all...

It's so important to allow space for real-world talk with kids these days. They are under so much more pressure than my generation ever was..

Poor baby. I hope this girl gets the help she obviously needs while serving time for murder.

Someone somewhere else made a good point, IMO. What if she was raped? It has been said she probably knew who the father was, but that doesn't have to be her boyfriend.
Even if she was raped she did not have the 'right' to do this to an innocent baby. Don't even try to tell me I am sticking up for her. With what she did, that would be impossible.
But if this child was conceived through rape, possibly violent, to me that would be an explanation of her behaviour. Again: it would not be an excuse.

Yeah, I don't care. I understand you're not excusing her behavior, but there are many other options. Dang, a dirty grimy trash can is a better option. :( Just...sad. RIP baby.

If you research infanticide, this has been going on for years. It could be a psychological or physiological break .from the hormones. That is not excusing it in any way, just something to consider. When my youngest was 4 days old, I had a sort of meltdown. It was raining and I went outside to wash my car and I was freaking out and crying. For no reason. And I was an adult, married with an older child. I went on medication the following week.
I know someone who thought about putting her newborn in the microwave, she got help too. I really think we need to take the stigma out of post partum depression and other issues New moms have. Going around saying "that's horrible. Who would do/ think these things" puts women who do go through this at a disadvantage. They feel shunned because of something that isn't their fault. There is more I can add to this, but I want to do research. All imo.

I do agree there are other options, but not all young girls no about these options and/or are scared to look into them.
