I believe that’s the plan from the regime, scare us into submission
I agree. Unless people from both sides do something, this is going to keep on happening. I fear for your country.

I guess the ones that shot people and who are charged with murder (if not soon, years from now) can use that as their defense/mitigating circumstances.

MOO
Except the head of DHS has repeatedly and firmly said the agents are trained and followed protocol. She is supposed to be the authority who would know.

Therefore, it seems, their training offers no defense.

Response to protests 'uniquely aggressive', says Minnesota resident

Ana Faguy
US reporter

I’m on my way to Minnesota right now to cover growing protests in Minneapolis following the killing of Alex Pretti.

On the plane, I’ve been chatting with Abby Roza, who is retuning to her hometown.

Like many Minnesotans, she was on the front lines of protests after Renee Good’s death two weeks ago. She was also out in the streets protesting nearly six years ago when George Floyd was killed.

But, Roza says, the law enforcement response to more recent protests is “uniquely aggressive”.

“They’re openly aggressive towards people who aren’t doing anything,” she said, describing an instance where she and others were peacefully protesting together near ICE headquarters in the city and dozens of people were pushed to the ground by ICE agents.

I asked if she plans to go out again and protest the death of Alex Petti. Roza said yes.

“I’m sure I’ll go out but I also think you can’t be in Minneapolis right now and not run into ICE doing something weird,” she said. “I won’t need to be protesting to run into ICE in the neighbourhood.”

Too many videos out there already from witnesses and bystanders to spin this any other way than murder, millions of eyes have seen

Tussel?? How dismissive
I see no clear evidence of what went down in the tussell. There is no charge of murder so that terminology in my opinion is inappropriate.

It's my opinion powerful emotion drives perception in these matters and that is simply not helpful to determining truth.

If there's a charge of murder in this incident I'd be grateful to see definitive evidence of said charge.

If the decedent's firearm was holstered I'd be grateful to see definitive evidence therof.

My opinion is that there is much subjective speculation relative to this incident but at this juncture little factual evidence exists of what truly occurred in the tussell seen in the vids.
Good thing there are at least 3 very clear videos of the incident to help in evidence collection.

Do something?

Thousands upon thousands upon thousands of peaceful protesters took to the streets in Minneapolis yesterday in frigid weather with the clear statement, "GET OUT, ICE."

There have been protesters every day in Minnesota.

Minnesotans are sharing videos of ICE tactics all over the internet.

Local elected officials are calling for ICE TO GET OUT. The Governor today called the White House to say, STOP. This is not the first request.

Please don't say people aren't doing anything.

As I type this comment, thousands of Minnesotans are at the site of today's killing - in frigid weather - and have been there non-stop since this morning. They are crying out, "GET OUT ICE."

Yeah, I think if he were a veteran, we'd know by now. Though, working at the VA Hospital is a form of service to the nation, imo.

jmo
Yes, and Pretti was also a federal employee at the VA, a member of the American Federation of Government Employees Union Local 3669.

The Military Times article, pulling from the Associated Press, is in the Veterans section of their news, but doesn't indicate that he was a veteran. He is probably there because of his service to the VA hospital. He was a Boy Scout and sang in a boy's choir in school.

His ex-wife said that "Pretti got a permit to carry a concealed firearm about three years ago and that he owned at least one semiautomatic handgun when they separated."

His neighbors "knew he had guns — he’d occasionally take a rifle to shoot at a gun range — but were surprised at the idea that he might carry a pistol on the streets."

The article also notes that he lived about 2 miles away from the location where he was shot and killed.

They would of killed him anyway, legally carried gun or NOT. IMO

Weird protocol, shooting people dead and walking away.

I recall the words of the Minneapolis mayor to people after the first murder by ICE agents in the city: Don't take the bait.

Who was Alex Pretti?

Details emerging about the man shot dead in Minneapolis paint a picture of someone who cared deeply about other people and the environment.

Family members were aware Alex Pretti had a legally obtained gun but had never known him to actually carry it.

Working as an intensive care nurse at the Veterans Administration, the 37-year-old had joined protests after the killing of Renee Good by a federal immigration agent in the city earlier this month.

"He cared about people deeply and he was very upset with what was happening in Minneapolis and throughout the United States with ICE, as millions of other people are upset," his father, Michael Pretti, told the Associated Press.

"He felt that doing the protesting was a way to express that, you know, his care for others."

His mother Susan Pretti said her son had cared immensely about the direction the county was headed, especially the Trump administration's rollback of environmental regulations.

"He hated that, you know, people were just trashing the land," she said. "He was an outdoorsman... He loved this country, but he hated what people were doing to it."

Alex Pretti's father said he had talked to his parents "two weeks ago or so" and he had told them that he knew not to "do anything stupid" during the protests.

While he did have a gun, CBS News, the BBC's partner in the US, notes that US Border Patrol officers did not specify if he had brandished it and that it is not visible in bystander videos of the shooting it has obtained and verified.

Family: ‘heartbroken but also very angry’

BY CHRISTOPHER WEBER

Pretti’s family released a statement Saturday evening saying they are “heartbroken but also very angry” and calling him a kindhearted soul who wanted to make a difference in the world through his work as a nurse.

“The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He has his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down all while being pepper sprayed,” the statement said.

“Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you.”

Lawyers file declaration in federal court from first-hand witness to immigration agents' shooting of a US citizen onlookers today. Minneapolis Mayor Frey said details would be used to bolster case for ousting ICE from city.

Here's the Tincher v. Noem (0:25-cv-04669) case file that this testimony is added to. This latest testimony is near the bottom. The person who testified was one of the people who was videoing during the killing, and the filing indicates that the video was submitted with the testimony.

Site of the crime scene right now, 12 hours after the killing. Temp is -6 F ( which is -21 C).
People are not accepting the ICE behavior. They are doing something, and it's peaceful.
