That’s your opinion.
That’s the opinion of many people including me. imo

Thankfully it won’t be any of us determining the outcome of this case. All videos will be scrutinized by the appropriate agencies. imo

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is holding a news conference Thursday in New York City one day after U.S. Immigration and Customs enforcement officer fatally shot a U.S. citizen during an operation in Minneapolis.

I think that link will carry the presser live.

Anyone can buy a uniform online to cosplay as law enforcement. That’s why there are rules and procedures how actual law enforcement must present themselves in a situation. From the videos available so far, those procedures were not followed.
agree, ICE imposters do exist, here are some examples of recent instances

On Thursday morning, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said the FBI had taken over the investigation into the shooting. The BCA said in a statement, “the FBI informed the BCA that the U.S. Attorney’s Office had reversed course: the investigation would now be led solely by the FBI.”

“Without complete access to the evidence, witnesses and information collected, we cannot meet the investigative standards that Minnesota law and the public demands. As a result, the BCA has reluctantly withdrawn from the investigation. The BCA Force Investigations Unit was designed to ensure consistency, accountability and public confidence, none of which can be achieved without full cooperation and jurisdictional clarity,” he wrote.

Feeling disappointed and let down, but not surprised.

they might be able to control the investigation, but -- question for any lawyers -- can they stop the state from filing charges? i believe murder, manslaughter, and reckless endangerment are all state charges. and i believe state crimes are beyond the reach of presidential pardon power.

edit: and even if they control the investigation, there might be enough for charges just in the publicly available videos. jmo

The final report is probably already written.

You can buy their red and blue vehicle lights right here for under $50:

"I made her come down here" and "just dropped off her 6-year-old son at school" are not mutually exclusive. JMO, the son was dropped off, the victim was returning home, and at the same time the wife saw or heard that there was something going on in the neighborhood and wanted to be an observer. IMO that's a brave thing to do these days, because watching your government at work shouldn't get you murdered but lately sometimes it does. MOO.
🎯 exactly this.

IANAL, but as I understand it, they can be charged by the state, but since the incident occurred in the course of their official duties they can request that it be transferred to federal court, and they can argue that charges should be dismissed due to supremacy clause immunity. If a judge finds the actions were reasonable and within their official duties then they walk. The success of state prosecution in similar situations is very mixed. Realistically, we know any attempt would likely result in this administration cutting all federal funds to the state. State prosecution would be a great thing, but I'm not holding my breath.

They can try to hide the identity of the officer, I guess. I don’t know to what degree the state can compel them to give his identity. I know at the press conference yesterday, it was stated that Minneapolis officials did not have his identity.

ETA: IANAL

Gee, I wonder why they did that? I can’t imagine it’s so they can control a narrative that Minnesota officials and the people living there weren’t willing to accept. Remind me, who appointed the latest totally-not-unqualified Director of the FBI?

Because federal convictions can be pardoned by the president?

I had to take a break from the coverage of this because it’s just so upsetting, but I just watched Noem’s press conference. All I can think of is this quote:

“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.” - Orwell

As others have said, everyday I hope is a tipping point to people waking up to what’s happening around us, and I hope people watch those videos, the government’s response, and truly see this for what it is - state sanctioned murder. There is no world, at least in my opinion, where this is okay or justified.

Justice for Renee Nicole Good, for her children, and for what’s happening to our country. 🤍

Excellent post and I agree -- even as I also am having to take a break from this one.

This was, IMO, as much a murder as the cleaner shot through a door for having the temerity to try a lock on the house she was expecting to work at that day.

In that case, however, we had a prosecutor who was willing to tell the truth about what had happened, even if the why proves to be more elusive (and troubling).

Here we have elected officials prepared to lie about what happened even as the evidence comes in so as to "get ahead of the narrative," smearing a mother of three who seems to have had no record even of legal protest -- should such an ordinary, laudable democratic activity require a record -- let alone"deranged leftist terrorism // organized LE vehicle ramming operative // blah blah blah lies lies lies."

It's obscene, and I hope it does not stand. Though I suspect there are already efforts to shift the narrative underway from a group that is, if nothing else, honest in their cynicism.

I feel actually, physically and morally sick. Like so many.

This from above article, clearly shows the officer being struck.

It's amazing what different angles show. You can barely even see the guy in front of her from the side angle videos that have been shared. This angle makes it clear he is lucky he wasn't seriously injured in this incident. Moo. I didn't even think he was hit at all from the other videos that were released.

I"ll do an experiment with my car today. I maybe able to turn in a circle slower than she did.
Make sure to add the panic, fear and stress that she probably felt due to armed, masked men screaming at her, giving her different instructions, and trying to forcefully enter the car during your experiment.
IMO.

It seems like the FBI will be the sole appropriate agency at this point:

Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension withdraws from ICE shooting investigation, says FBI blocked access to evidence

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) – the state’s top investigative agency – announced today that it would be withdrawing from the investigation into the fatal shooting of a 37-year-old woman in Minneapolis by a federal immigration agent.

In a statement, BCA superintendent Drew Evans said the investigation would now be “solely led FBI”, noting that that federal authorities have blocked BCA from accessing “case materials, scene evidence or investigative interviews necessary to complete a thorough and independent investigation”.

Evans added that without “complete access to the evidence” BCA would have to “reluctantly” withdraw from the ongoing investigation.

I'm hearing that Noem will be doing a presser this morning? Searching for a link - post if you find one please.
pass, I already heard what she had to say her spin yesterday. I feel no need to subject myself to more of the same.

Wise decision. (It went exactly as you'd expect.)
