<modsniip: no source link> It is my understanding that ice agents are supposed to be bringing in illegal immigrants that have criminal charges or history.. aka violent or drugs...this entire situation has me sick! The agent could have stepped to the side if he was that afraid. I guarantee you if she had been trying to run him over it would've happened. It's clear that was not the situation! Heartbroken for the state of our country and wish people would just have common decency and respect for lives

Whatever happened to that wall that Mexico was going to pay for to fix this “problem”?
I'm inclined to believe Argentina could build a free wall if they wanted to, cuz isn't Trump giving them $40B?

That is a very foggy statistic because only about 2/3 of the voting public actually voted, and only about 1/2 of that 2/3 voted for these policies. So, about 1/3 of the voting public gave their mandate for these actions. Link

imo
The point is that the current administration has a mandate from the people to deal with the illegal immigration crisis and that the immigration enforcement officers are doing work that is legal and have every right to be in U.S. cities.

Looks like the problem is fixed and the illegal border crossing issue has been dealt with as the number of illegals attempting to come into the U.S. illegally now is minimal. The border agents are doing a good job.

I suspect that more cops voted for Trump than not. And it may be so that most cops don't like what comes with illegal immigration.

However. The police was under so much fire several years ago, especially in Minnesota (and it was not for the first time, I still remember Flint), that I am not sure if it has recovered, tbh. Definitely not in Seattle. We all remember that time. They have enough problems. But, also, they can't cover their faces and they have to wear bodycams. Most of all, they are better trained on how to avoid escalation so they are trying to avoid it.
I don't think those ICE guys had to shoot the victim, but could've just shot out her tires to stop her or tazed her, or similar. It didn't rise to the level of threat of having to kill her! She was probably so frazzled by then that she probably didn't know how to proceed. IMO.

Imo the originally stated work is legal but the tactics and expansion are morally indefensible.

A majority of the American voters identified illegal immigration as one of the top issues for them in the last election. Our borders are now pretty much closed, but we still have about 15 million illegal immigrants in the country that entered through the open borders policy of the previous administration. The border agents and immigration enforcement officers are enforcing U.S. laws. Illegal immigrants were offered funds to depart the country voluntarily and many chose to do so and then in the future apply to enter legally.

Sorry but I find your comments a little contradictory. If many immigrants chose to voluntarily leave then why is there even a need for not only their presence but such heavy enforcement by these agents? And they are not enforcing any of these laws anyway when they are shooting and killing unarmed American citizens. JMO.

Especially sanctuary cities where they are not wanted, like Minneapolis.

Excellent post and I agree -- even as I also am having to take a break from this one.

This was, IMO, as much a murder as the cleaner shot through a door for having the temerity to try a lock on the house she was expecting to work at that day.

In that case, however, we had a prosecutor who was willing to tell the truth about what had happened, even if the why proves to be more elusive (and troubling).

Here we have elected officials prepared to lie about what happened even as the evidence comes in so as to "get ahead of the narrative," smearing a mother of three who seems to have had no record even of legal protest -- should such an ordinary, laudable democratic activity require a record -- let alone"deranged leftist terrorism // organized LE vehicle ramming operative // blah blah blah lies lies lies."

It's obscene, and I hope it does not stand. Though I suspect there are already efforts to shift the narrative underway from a group that is, if nothing else, honest in their cynicism.

I feel actually, physically and morally sick. Like so many.

Like a plague thy hate shall spread.

Tazed won't go either. Might be very dangerous as the driver may seize or jerk and inadvertently remove the leg from the brake or push the gas pedal, who knows. Best to avoid shooting at the moving transport as it is a hazard on a blocked road. She was driving slowly. So, he could have simply made a step back. But if he absolutely needed to use his gun, two front tires at such a low speed could have been enough. Most authors recommended the radiator, but with two people in the car, I don't think shooting anywhere at the body of the car is safe, tbh.

But the driver's head is absolutely the worst idea. As with the tazer, the dying body may jerk or seize and accelerate the car.

1.9 million illegal immigrants have voluntary self-deported. I'd say that is "many." But it's a drop in the bucket, of course, given that about 15 million immigrants are here illegally.

Source is DHS website for numbers of voluntary self-deportations of illegal immigrants.

It's not about who wants or doesn't want them there, the law is being enforced, it's not about what sanctuary cities want. Their policies don't supersede the law.

From the first page of this thread, several posters reference an officer telling the victim to leave, and this interpretation appears to be commonly shared. I have not been able to identify recorded audio that clearly captures this instruction. If anyone is aware of a video in which these words can be heard, I would appreciate being directed to it.

Some examples of comments from the beginning of the thread include:

-it appears one officer tells her to leave as another begins yanking on her door
-trying to leave, as they instructed her
-So as per eyewitness (as well as what I saw in the video) she was told to leave

Yes, preaching to the choir. I get all that. Unfortunately.

I don't know if this has already been shared, but here's a fairly thorough breakdown of what happened yesterday. It's from the CBC. Aren't we Canadians fortunate to have such good handling of the news? It helps us be critical thinkers.

I"ll do an experiment with my car today. I maybe able to turn in a circle slower than she did.
I think you'll have to come up with a scenario that scares the bejesus out of you to properly execute a recreation. Just saying.

Thank you for posting this video. I think the single most important bit of info, from the DHS/ICE manual: "Deadly force may not be used solely to prevent the escape of a fleeing suspect." Nevermind that this woman was not an undocumented immigrant, and was thus not a suspect. It is not okay, according to DHS/ICE, to kill someone who is fleeing. Period.

Thank you for posting that. It's a thorough examination of the the evidence.

Brilliant unbiased reporting
