Suspects are still in jail, will be transported back once paperwork is finalized.

Sheriff says motive will come out once trial starts.
Asked about whether Nicholas could've manipulated Gypsy, he says things not always as they appear.
Says they didn't have wheelchair in WI.

You are right and a good person for giving people the benefit of the doubt.

I see you've only just joined Websleuths. After a following a few dozen stories, you'll see the red flags. It's terrible but we learn here that the world can be completely bizarre and depraved. :(

That said, in my real life I'm a very trusting person and don't think every stranger I meet is a killer! Websleuths doesn't warp you, it just teaches you that you can *often* trust your gut feelings.

Most people ARE good. And the ones who are not usually let you know, subtly or overtly.

HUGS.

Agree. If everyone on a thread took the same stance and voiced the same opinions without having other people question or disagree with certain things. Then most threads would only be 2 pages long.

Different insights are definitely needed to help make a thread more interesting. Sometimes posters may agree but voice a different opinion for conversation sake.

We have our ways. Lol.

No other calls to the residence, seemed to say that there was also no call about the burglary that was being speculated about.

Exactly. I dont understand why they did not just leave! He siad the mother was asleep! As an adult she had every right to leave! Sure the mother would have reported her missing or as some kind of endangered/missing adult, but once the daughter had been located, all she needed to do w was tell them about how her mother had been manipulating her for years for cash prizes, housing, attention etc. She would have been free, and the police would simply have told her mother, she is fine, and is not breaking any laws etc.

That being said, the boyfriend seems so disturbed, that she very well could have wound up a victim in another way.

I can't help but wonder why extended family or her own father was not able to remove her from the situation. It seems like I am reading comments about how people knew about it for years, and nobody did anything.

editing to add, now that I think about it, she probably was trapped in that house with no kind of identification, and no drivers license. She was essentially a prisoner. It still isn't reason enough to murder somebody, but its just too bad she didn't have a better advocate. :(

Just remember, it's easy to put all the blame on someone when they're too dead to defend themselves. Gypsy is 23 years old. As much as I want to believe she was manipulated and abused, at what point is the line crossed where she was PART OF the fraud? It's nice when people give you stuff. She's obviously not stupid. But I'm sure this will turn into how DeeDee is this awful fraudulent woman who gave her daughter Stockholm's or something.

When asked about the home they lived in, Sheriff says the community tends to be trusting and in this case didn't work out.
Also he corrects his previous comment and says there was a call about a burglary in April.

Media questioned whether they were really victims of Hurricane Katrina and Sheriff says at this point they just don't know.

He basically said she has been cut off from family for 16 years due to fraud (dee dee that is)

I agree with you. There are always different views from the other side of the door. I'm sure some type of abuse happened, whether it be emotional or physical I'm not sure.
BUT- I'm still not sold on murder being her only way out. Seriously....it's speculated that DeeDee was asleep before the murder happened. They couldn't just roll out the front door? Come on now.

Not justifying DeeDee being brutally murdered. But we don't know what happened behind closed doors. It appears DeeDee maniputlated/ victimized Gypsy all her life. What if DeeDee also convinced Gypsy that if she ever left the scam would be exposed and Gypsy would go to prison ? Or once every one found out about the scam no one would ever be her friend again and she would be alone without money or a home ? Or what if Gypsy suspected or discovered that now that she has reached adulthood the next step in the scam was for DeeDee to fake ( or not ) Gypsy's death to continue to get money ?
IMO, a loving, nurturing mother would not subject her daughter to a lifetime of appearing sickly and wheelchair bound. I have no problem imagining Gypsy believing the only way she would ever be free of the scam was for her mom to die. Look how many professionals were scammed into believing Gypsy was severly disabled . IMO, Gypsy didn't believe there was anyway out , much the same way women killing their abusive husbands because they believed there was no other way out .

Sheriff says
Gypsy authored both fb posts
cautions on giving $ to family, uncovered evidence of long going financial fraud
O.M.G. would you look at that!

Wow...........now THAT was a press conference.

DeeDee and Gypsy are apparent scam artist.

Not only was she walking around unaided, she was carrying her own luggage as well. The jailers said she was walking around without any problem as well.

That police chief didn't pull any punches, he basically said that they had deceived the community.

I can't wait to see what she looks like in a up-to-date video without the false dressings.

You can watch the livestream video here, right now anyway.

I agree--we totally don't know what happened inside that house, and I don't believe financial fraud makes someone deserve to be murdered.

But if it's anything like what it looks like--that a perfectly healthy child was denied a normal life by her mother and made to believe she had to go along with it, then the mother created the monster that killed her.

check twitter for Gypsy's mugshot. haven't found link yet.

The step mom is live on the FB case page. And she's answering questions
