This is scary. Poor Lil guy. And it’s so cold at night too.
My son is 5 and I don’t think at 3, almost 4, he was capable of getting his coat, shoes and backpack on. Let alone have the sense to pack a snack.

I hope my gut is wrong about this and he’s found safe soon!!

I just found this thread, so please forgive if I say/ask what has already been said.
Still catching up...
My gut is worried about sad or bad things, too.

Agree -- and the pajamas -- along with a coat and gloves -- at night? Did someone come in and take him?

I agree about the gloves -- maybe they were simply in his coat pockets. A three year old who knew to take his coat -- thank goodness. And takes snacks -- that's good, too. Why, why, why? Could he have been sleep-walking? Our son did that once -- he just came walking down the stairs in his pj's, inside our house and we were watching TV. We could tell he wasn't really awake although his eyes were open. He was very agreeable when we asked him if he wanted to go back up to his room. We just turned him around and walked back upstairs with him and put him back in his bed. It never happened again. He was about 5 years old.

Little Darnell lives in an area with a lot of apts. I hope someone coming or going to his area might have seen something and maybe didn't realize what he/she saw at the time, and has reported it by now.

There are also some woods near those apts -- an easy place to get lost, especially at night. Surely that area has been or is going to be searched asap. Ohhhh, this is frightening. A 3-year-old boy by himself, or is he with someone with bad intentions?

I don't like this.

I so hope this little guy is able to celebrate his 5th birthday in 9 days.
Hoping he is found soon.

Oh, what is this? Roller-coaster from glee to sadness. What to believe...

I'm having a *really* hard time wrapping my head around this one.
[Same here -- from the first -- we have seen this situation, before resolution, so many times. We see, sadly, so many unhappy endings.]

*FOUR year old packs some snacks and hits the road without detection
[Amazing that he found everything he packed all by himself.]

*Some relative associated with the four year old reports he has been found! News stations report the good news and rejoicing abounds!
[How and why did that happen?]
*Shortly thereafter, we are told this was a false alarm, child still missing
[How and why did that happen?]
*Father is in jail? Father is in for questioning?
[The word, "released" hangs in the air. Could be just a bad choice of words.]

This is nuts.

Amateur opinion and speculation only

Jefferson City police: Amount of time Darnell Gray missing is critical

“JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - UPDATE 8:05 p.m.: The Jefferson City Police Department drained the Linden Way pond in their continued search for 4-year-old Darnell Gray.”

Snip

“He said the water conditions have them racing against the clock.

"Cold evenings, really cold mornings, exposure for an adult is almost too much," Williams said.

Williams said they have raised the reward amount to $11,000, which is being funded by the JCPD, the FBI, and CrimeStoppers.“

The dimples did me in. :(
Yeah, I am lost when I see dimples, or long dark eyelashes. I just want to hug 'em all. My little boy is 36 years old...

Small point, but I have three kids, and every time one of them lost a tooth, we took a picture. Is that unusual? It seems as though if his teeth fell out naturally, sometim would have a picture with a cute little gap in the front.

Also, where is bio mom? Could this (I hope) be a simple custody issue, and she came and took him and he's somewhere safe with her?

I just can’t stop thinking about this washing machine!!! Maybe when they were interviewing the women they found drugs? So then they were arrested? Is that even a place people would hide it?
Bloody clothing? Traces of DNA? Weapons, belts, etc. clothing?
I do think it might be a place for hiding things under dirty clothes.

Who would look in a washing machine? (LE investigators.)
Probably just being as thorough as possible, as they should. Thorough investigations can help absolve people, too.

He's a toddler/preschooler. He's not equipped to pack up and live in a fort. But I'd love for him to be the first one to do it!
Oh, so do I, but it's been too long. He would have gotten hungry and dirty and probably scared by this time. If he tried to go back, he could easily be totally lost. If he really did leave the house by himself, at night, in the dark, in the cold, someone with bad intentions could have found him. He could still be in those woods that are all around that apartment area. Lots of woods, especially for a 4 y/o all by himself. Or someone might have put him there.

This is so ominous:

JCPD said not all the criteria was met for an Amber Alert, primarily because they don't suspect abduction.

Practically word for word from Lucas’ case, iirc.

(ETA/ for reference:

“An Amber Alert was never issued because there was no evidence that Lucas had been abducted.”
Texas volunteers come up empty in search for missing Wichita boy, police say)

(ETA/ might as well look at Sherin too:
“WFAA says the Amber Alert was terminated due to the absence of "actionable leads."“
Amber Alert canceled; Dallas-area girl still missing )

(Then there’s this, Pink, LE’s usage of the word “inconsistencies”:

(Here’s them using it in Malik’s case:

“However, as the investigation continued police noticed inconsistencies in the story.“
Girlfriend confesses to helping father cover up the murder of Malik Drummond)
Yeah. People have a tendency to make inconsistent statements, when they are telling lies.

The truth is unchanging, and seldom forgotten.

People with guilty knowledge lie. That’s what I feel and fear, is going on here.

Whoever did this, won’t get away with it. The truth will come out, and I think soon.

Indeed. Agree.

I am encouraged that the FBI is involved now and throwing some reward money in to boot. They have the resources to send some agents to Chicago if need be and knock down whatever doors they have to there to find this little boy, or what happened to him. Also lying to an FBI Agent is a felony whereas not to local LE so the little Truth or Consequences game the people "close to the investigation" are playing will either end or the consequences will kick in.

Day four since his disappearance and still no sign of Darnell Gray. I’m live at the police department this morning with the latest on search efforts. @KRCG13

Law enforcement continues to drain the pond near missing 4-year-old Darnell Gray’s house. Within the past 20 minutes, two additional police cars have arrived at the scene and law enforcement has been looking over the pond with flashlights. @KOMUnews

I just spoke with a woman who told me she’s been out here by the pond all night long. She lives nearby and has been a part of the volunteer search all four days. She says she cannot sleep and wants to keep watch for all the people who can’t be out here. @KOMUnews

I just spoke with a man who told me he’s been doing everything he can to help search for Gray. This hits home for him because when he was a young parent, his child left the house and went missing in this area. Luckily, authorities found his child. @KOMUnews

Good morning Love 75 and welcome to WS and the thread. I believe you are correct about the Washer. That being the case the reporters specified that it had no bearing on the missing child case. CaseNet is a public access information site for MO and you might use the case number in the link to the site without using her name. If not maybe a Mod could assist you.

Also I believe those homes or apartments are government assisted they are very strict as to the number of people occupying them. There might be one gf too many. Correct me if I'm wrong about them being government assisted.

Again, Welcome Aboard Love 75.
