<mod snip> No amount of sense is going to get through to them. They could watch a video of MB being shot - they still wouldn't believe why. Case in point, they watched the strong-armed robbery and they don't believe that!

I hope that the Grand Jury will use common sense in their decision and not be affected by unreasonable demands made by the protestors.

The other weird dichotomy that I was discussing with the protestors on live chat, was their outrage about 'racial profiling.' They were very upset when I admitted that cops were probably more fearful of pulling over a car full of black males than white males. They thought that was a racist stance. And yet, we saw a huge mob of black males chanting EFF the POH-LICE and screaming with hatred into their faces. Yelling that they should bring out OW's body or prepare to DIE FOR HIM. Treatening the cops and their families, chanting they are ALL Darren Wilson and they want them all dead.

After weeks of that behavior, they say to me, why should a cop be afraid of a car full of young black males? It seems to me that the protestors want to incite FEAR in the cops, and act aggressive and hateful, and yet, the cops are not supposed to take that into account when they are alone and pull over 2 black males at night.

It is so confusing because they are purposely painting a portrait of themselves as 'ready to die' for their cause, and blaming the cops and wanting them to pay with their lives, and yet, questioning WHY the cops would be cautious and fearful. :waitasec:

next time you're on there - iirc jesse jackson said he'd heard several people following him & was relieved when he turned around & saw they were white.

hope i paraphrased it correctly - so imo!

IMHO the protesters picked the wrong "case" to support for their movement

99.9 percent of population agrees with you, myself included.

I smoked pot back in the 60's 70's era. I haven't smoked it since but even back then, you sometimes got pot 'laced' with other things like acid. Today I have no idea what they mix street pot with. Some pot is synthetic, some is dangerous. IIRC, MB and his friends were dipping their pot in Nyquil so I have no idea what kind of high that would be or how that would affect someone. Would it make them laid back or violent?

Yeah, they said the dipped ones gave what was referred to as a cheap "PCP" like high.

I think they dip some in codeine, too... And some stick something like pills inside them.

 To all of it. I always figured I'd be one of those unlucky girls who wound up in a vegetative state if I tried anything.

Back from the weekend wedding trip - so fun! And nice to be away from it all for a couple of days! So I come back to a wonderful Sunday church service where they are calling fort the arrest of a LEO.

Also, I wonder what everyone thinks of that whole symphony fiasco. What was that all about? It seemed to me like they got a lot of support from the crown and the actual orchestra. That whole thing just seemed really odd to me. What are all of your thoughts.

I can't wait till this is over.

That's my only fear too, Ranch. They need to be sure their identities are kept secret, but I don't think I could.

OTOH, I can't imagine how they could come back with anything that makes them safe from the protesters (I hate using such a benign word, but YKWIM).

Even if they try a lesser charge, they won't be completely safe. Heck, people are saying that, even if they throw the book at him, there will still be riots. Then the victims of those will be angry, especially if they don't think Wilson deserved it.

If I were on that GJ, I would 100% have my house up for sale and all family tucked safely away somewhere, somehow. :(

I thinbk they learned something and did this 'event' without harming any spectators. They waited for a break in the show, so they did not 'shut it down.' and they did not chant curse words or ugly things. They sang a song, so that was fine. And they hung a nicely made banner from the balcony. Again, nothing that would harm anyone or inconvenience anyone.

It would have been wrong to block traffic or stand up in the middle of the show, and interrupt the symphony. And they were smart enough to not do so. But I don't think it had that huge of an impact, imo. Just a nice little oddity in the scheme of things.

I only watched once, and need to watch a few more times to count. I too saw some support from some in the orchestra and audience, but also a few who refused to join the clapping, and others demonstrating anger. Some in the audience were clearly in on it from the start.

I think it took awhile for most people to figure out what the singing was about.

Overall, I think it was a dumb move, especially singling out MB in the song and banners.

I saw some tweets that said there was initially some booing from the audience, and then people clapped and cheered, over riding that. It looks like a lot kept silent. I think some were intimidated.

Good point...of all the things they've done, this was for sure the least offensive!

I just don't think it was productive, unless they avoid offensive protests from now on... :waitasec:

Here's the video. Thanks, Pops! :blowkiss:

wonder whether the nyquil would show up in the tox screen?

whether it does or not - imo i think he had a lot of testosterone flowing.

I would assume NyQuil would "read" as alcohol since it's >25% alcohol, right?

yeah, my dds was at the symphony & felt intimidated or so he said at church this morning

while it was moving, people who frequent the symphony in StL don't really care about MB or what's going on in Ferguson -- not the right venue; but is there a "right" venue for this except the StLC GJ ???

Again, the movement chose the wrong scenario to support IMHO

eh, look at the attendance at Powell Hall -- lots of empty seats IMHO but my DDS & his wife were there -- maybe the protesters will make an impact at the Cards game tomorrow where >50K people will be congregating

Gawd, I hate opera, rap & the symphony even though I do blow a mean saxophone :saber: give me some Grateful Dead on a Summer day & I am fine :)

 Someone tweeted asking if they are going to mob the Redbirds game because it was the most watched ever last night on MLB. I read it and thought wtf is that person talking about.

I've been doing a little more research about facial recognition software available for LE since many agencies are at least testing out body cameras. There seem to be some applications made specifically for LE use but there are also many questions about the storage of the data being collected. If Officer Wilson had been wearing a body camera during the confrontation with MB and Dorian there probably wouldn't have been nearly as much publicity. I do wonder if the SUV Officer Wilson was driving had a dash cam.
