I've been doing a little more research about facial recognition software available for LE since many agencies are at least testing out body cameras. There seem to be some applications made specifically for LE use but there are also many questions about the storage of the data being collected. If Officer Wilson had been wearing a body camera during the confrontation with MB and Dorian there probably wouldn't have been nearly as much publicity. I do wonder if the SUV Officer Wilson was driving had a dash cam.

I wondered the same thing about dash cams. I thought almost all PDs have them now. But I have not heard a peep about there being any footage from his dash cam. There is a rumor that he MIGHT have turned on his mic to dispatch, and the incident was recorded. But it is just speculation, I believe.

eh, look at the attendance at Powell Hall -- lots of empty seats IMHO but my DDS & his wife were there -- maybe the protesters will make an impact at the Cards game tomorrow where >50K people will be congregating

Gawd, I hate opera, rap & the symphony even though I do blow a mean saxophone :saber: give me some Grateful Dead on a Summer day & I am fine :)

Yeah, I was surprised by all the empty seats!

OMG I always wanted to play the sax, but totally blew it. ( :tomatoes: )

LOVE the symphony, hate opera and rap. Concerts only if I have a cushioned seat, A/C, and a calm crowd, otherwise, a box. LOL :nerdygirl: (I sometimes jam down in the safety of my house or car, though! :D )

Not that I've found other than Bassem and some kind of music, which I'm not going to listen to.
(Meant to reply to Sugar.)

I could swear FPD did not have dash cams...

Yeah...

" Thomas Jackson says his department has 18 patrol cars. This spring, the department purchased two dashboard cameras and two wearable body cameras, but the equipment hasn’t been installed in vehicles because the department doesn’t have the money to cover that cost, he said.

A dashcam and installation runs about $3,000, he said."

IMOO this MB fiasco would never have happened if a police camera caught the incident on tape.

I think that NoThiefSallowed has made them think twice about live feeds being on the net. I think they are going to video from their personal phones, but not have them streaming publicly much anymore. jmo

I would assume NyQuil would "read" as alcohol since it's >25% alcohol, right?
Nyquil contains diphenhydramine, which is tested for in tox reports.

Yeah, the nightly protests seem to be fizzling out. I'm not really sure what took the wind out of their sails but I'm thankful.
I think it had something to do with the 14 that were arrested the other day and I think many are just over it.

I am concerned because the last time it got calm, 'someone' set the memorial on fire to fire protesters up again. Maybe it's just the calm before this weekend s festivities. :dunno: New agitators from different states all raring to go with their rage. Should be pretty hectic

I agree. I think it is going to stay pretty quiet until that weekend. They will feel pretty confident surrounded by a thousand other marchers.

They will if they're smart, won't they? They should at least have been more careful about what they showed and moderated their commentaries (understatement of the year).

It would be so awesome for most of that thousand to no-show.

Last day I was lucid, I was convinced there was serious dissension among the ranks.

Bugs me to see the New Black Panthers coming out again.

A local tweeted a close up pic of the 'tape' at Faraci's Pizza. It's caution tape and there are construction signs. It's not police tape. Just FYI

Funny how all the livestreams have disappeared. POOF!

I'm going to be closing up in about 20 minutes.

Have a good evening all!

I don't think the protests have fizzled. I think it is the calm before the storm. Today they had some kind of big ACLU 'training' seminar. I saw pix tweeted out. They were trained to be 'ambassadors' but I don't know in what context. I imagine they were taught their rights. I think everyone is hunkering down and getting ready for OctoberSurprise, whatever that will be.

Ferguson remains on edge as 4-day protest looms

FERGUSON, Mo. — Protesters in this small Midwest city measure time by counting the number of days Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson has remained free since killing Michael Brown.

Here, after 58 days, almost everyone is waiting for a grand jury to decide whether Wilson, who shot the unarmed black 18-year-old on Aug. 9, will face charges. Businesses have put off repairing looter damage and instead have covered shattered glass with wooden boards.
