City officials are preparing for all possible outcomes of the grand jury's investigation into the shooting death of Michael Brown, James said.

"I'm just being real. If there's no indictment and there's an evacuation situation, then we need to be prepared for that," he said. "If there is an indictment and there's celebratory unrest, we need to be prepared for that. The city and the law enforcement agencies are looking at all scenarios."

If violence breaks out, James said officials are considering how they would alert residents and instruct them to "hunker down or get out."All options are being explored, even an evacuation plan, James said. The city is weighing whether to use of robotic calls, emails, text messages, or simply relying on the media to get the word out.

If the officials were smart, they'd announce that the GJ is finished and a statement will be made the following day. It would give the whole city a chance to get outta Dodge or hunker down. Either indictment or no indictment there's gonna be a mess.
Just sayin.......

ETA: sorry Lovejac, I didn't see you post the same thing earlier :blushing:

And his profession is as a paid communication expert??
(Pro bono for Ferguson right now.)
Devin James has created more trouble than solved, IMHO.

Just got a call from #Ferguson PIO Tim Zoll on so-called "evacuation plan" for residents: "There's nothing in the works now..."

"... nor is there anything being thought of in the future." -- #Ferguson PIO Zoll on "evacuation" plan @WesleyLowery @sdkstl @STLonAir

He's creating more work for them at this point and his statements about Michael seem to support the protestors' narrative. He's either trying to make FPD and the city look bad or he's bad at his job, IMO.

[h=1]DOJ: No additional federal funding to cover Ferguson-related law enforcement costs[/h]
... the Justice Department already gave more than $4.2 million in Justice Assistance Grants to Missouri and $91,000 to St. Louis County.

"Beyond these awards, (the Bureau of Justice Assistance) unfortunately has no additional funding available to support the law enforcement costs noted in your letter," Kadzik wrote.

I am sure he is an opportunist. I can see that. However, his tutoring organization is a beneficial thing for the community.

I worked for one for 9 years. And it had a big impact upon the student body. We couldn't help all the kids who came to us. Only those who wanted to help themselves. But those that followed through were helped tremendously. We were like a mediation group between the students and their teachers. We would help the students figure out EXACTLY what they needed to get enough credits to graduate. And then we would administer missed tests and help them acquire missing homework assignments and tutor them if they did not understand how to complete the work.

there are many worthwhile grants/programs, but i'm also a bit leary when the non-profit group has dirt on their hands.

i happened to drive down 125th st./nyc this week & saw the the kids in their uniforms waiting to go in. check out their teacher/student/parent committment - easy peasy to implement this in all ferguson public schools as a start - no $ needed! page 4:

also mr. canada (the founder) has found a successor to manage the schools & hopefully he'll start traveling around/spreading how failing schools can start moving forward.

Quick question, and I tried searching for it so sorry if it's been answered, I am confused about accusations that the state is violating sunshine laws by not releasing certain info...is this typical if evidence is going before a grand jury?

The statutes and statements have been posted before, but long story short open investigation = closed records.

It just seems a little insane to me for the DOJ to come blazing in there with 40 agents like they just found Jimmy Hoffa, make premature remarks, send their "community" team in there, and do a bang up job of riling these protestors up, but now they have no more money for law enforcement there.

What I remember from Casey doc dump days is that as each part of the investigation is complete by law it has to be released. Such as the convenience store robbery was investigated and the investigation of it completed it has to be released in a certain amount of days if requested. Since they are still investigating the shooting and witnesses those depots wont be turned over till the investigation is completed and they have a certain amount of time to turn them over to anyone requesting them. Also they can go before a judge and ask for a delay. It is the sunshine law that requires release of info is what I remember.
