I don't tweet. But anyone who does might want to tweet Matt Lauer and ask why he is hosting a fund raiser for MariaChappelleNadal. Maybe he doesnt know much about her?

We're happy to say all 13 arrestees are out! 10 were released on their own recognizance. We paid bond for 3 others that totaled $2000

That's great if the newly registered actually do vote!

Absolutely agree. Even more great if the newly registered become informed voters before voting.

I love seeing that the tides are changing. :happydance: LE is getting all their ducks in a row and taking care of business. Awesome!

I so hope you're right. Do you think that they will be "allowed" to take care of business?

Arrests at the moment being to break up the present protest? Arrest 'em, Let 'em go. Minimum punishment, if any.

Why isn't there an ordinance against obscene language in public? That would wipe out most of the protesters. They use words that may not be considered "threatening" but no way to spell them that they aren't obscene.

JMO. I absolutely don't like that kind of talk. Shows a huge amount of immaturity, and a deficit of problem-solving abilities.

thanks so much for this - i'm definitely b/marking it.

i wonder if drummer boy will be there tonite - apparently he is breaking the law - at a minimum he should have gotten a permit from the chief of police

quote from your link:

A permit from the chief of police or his designee must be obtained for an outdoor event where the volume of any radio, music player, such as a boom box, tape cassette, disk player, television, audio system, musical instrument, or any other kind of sound device could exceed that established in this section.

The permit will only be issued if, in the opinion of the chief of police or his designee, the peace of the general public and/or residents of the area affected would not be unduly disturbed thereby.

Said permit shall be issued for only the hours between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m

(I read this and for a minute I thought I'd accidentally been posting in the ebola thread :scared:
)

Well, listen, that was a serious question. I am curious about it. Nothing to do with ebola, although you made me laugh, for sure!

nothiefsallowed on ustream has a video where he called FPD, I guess early this morning right after the arrests. He is talking to dispatch about everything going on and she tells him yes we finally wised up, we have it all... twitter, ustream, live stream, bambuser

  • #598
I hope you are right. But it doesnt seem to me that is what he is saying. He seems to be throwing the FPD under the bus and trying to appease the protesters. He said " just because there is an ordinance against something, doesnt mean you have to enforce it if it affects protestors first amendment rights.'

So it sounds to me like he was rebuking the FPD for making the arrests. Hate to break it to him, but that is only going to ignite the violence, not tamp it down. Being a 'nice' police officer is not going to win him any favor with this mob, imo. It will only allow them the confidence to get more
I hope, but remember when Jackson [eta: I mean Capt JOHNSON  ] came out the other night, after FPD had been dealing with the nonsense for hours, the protesters boohood like tattle tellers about how they were being treated.

He answered by saying he and Belmar talked about it and they agreed that they wouldn't enforce the rules FPD were enforcing.

Too many cooks in that kitchen. Even parents know that consistency is vital and not to let kids play you off each other.

The problem is everyone wants their hand in the pot, but no one wants to take the responsibility.

Whole entire situation is fubar, and since poop runs downhill, the ones who'll be slammed will be the ones who had the least power. :(

Way too much politics in police work.
My take is that he's warning them if they are violent, nasty, vocal, in-your-face from the get-go, do not expect the officer not to enforce the ordinance you are breaking.

Every time I have seen them with gloves on they look like leather.
