Now police are ORDERING camera crews to Shut off the cameras!
Cameras often only encourage other loky-loos, tweets, etc. to act out.

The people who are live streaming this situation are exacerbating the problem IMO.
This is an opportunity for Al Sharpton. He needs to be out there encouraging people to return to their homes. He needs to lead. With LE in riot gear, protestors need to prop their signs up and head in. Show the LE, media, and watching world that there is no need for riot gear, tear gas, extra.
But alas, those intelligent protestors are already home, all that is left are the thugs who want a confrontation, who want to destroy and rob. And the media. Jmo
Thanks wasn't enough. Can everyone please look away, and go about their daily lives and ignore the people who want to be in the spotlight here? What would happen if media trucks pulled away right now and those who want their mugs on the news were ignored?
Perhaps because he is there speaking along with Crump?I know some white folks love to trot out Al Sharpton and usually Jesse Jackson as some sort of boogeyman, or spokesman who should do X, Y or Z, or not be doing A, B or C, but people need to understand that neither of these guys either represent the black community as a whole, speak for the black community, or are even just respected or listened to as leaders by the black community lol. Its frankly demeaning to keep trotting out Sharpton as some sort of rallying point or voice of representation or leadership. I mean, do people do the same for ANYONE in regards to the white community?? Of course not - because no one person represents white people, speaks for white people, or is universally supported, respected, or followed by white people. Why does anyone think black people would do so for any one person??!
If Sharpton is a figure of import for anyone, it seems to be the media, and the WHITE community, who have sort of adopted him as a representational black man to focus their ire on.

I think they are worrying about the cameras escalating the violence. People will do crazy things for the benefit of the cameras.
In Ferguson, Washington Post reporter Wesley Lowery gives account of his arrest

He might be there, but why does anyone look to him to do something? He's not king of the black community. He shows up because he has something to say, and white media know that he gets attention from white viewers. To expect him to act, or speak, or lead is insulting. Again, no one looks to one person to speak for or to white America, do they?

that is outrageous.
I agree - some people will act out if a camera is on them.
But I can't help but feel that the officers who ordered the media to shut off their cameras may not want their own actions to be caught on camera.
LE has no authority whatsoever to suppress the media who are covering this story, even if they have a misguided noble agenda and believe that the cameras may be contributing to the escalation.
The media has every right to film what's going on. A picture paints a thousand words, more so than a print story. When an officer of the law orders the media to stop filming, it's more than likely that officer is either doing something or is about to do something that will invite deserved scrutiny, IMO.

He is otherwise he wouldn't always be a spokesperson at these gatherings. jmoSharpton has his own show on MSNBC. Sounds like he is a recognized spokesman to me.
