I'm sorry ImaMaze, I should have been more clear, I totally got that from your post. I was just prompted by your post to explain why these particular protests have me and seemingly others so irked. Because protesting is a valuable and hard won American right as you suggested. I just hate to see them IMO misused in the way I feel these have been.

My bad, your post was clear, I could have been clearer.

No, no I'm sorry tlcya, I didn't make it clear but thank you for being so sweet! :loveyou:

Thanks. But not sure I'm following. I think one possibility for Holder being there is to look into the practices of the FPD in a broader sense. Obviously, I have no idea if he'll bring charges against Wilson or if his investigation will ultimately concentrate on the department as a whole, but I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be the latter.

He'll do both IMO, and likely to no avail.

Definitely the FPD.

I don't like how he has "put his finger on the scale of justice," as some have commented in MSM, particularly FOX.

He told parents, "I'll be here for you, all the way through... " (CNN interview) What does even that mean?
It probably means something more to MBs parents.

I agree with the premise that phones are a necessity not a luxury. I-phones with data packages, internet and two year plans are not IMO. A track phone sufficed for me for many years. Because I could not afford any bells or whistles.

But I do agree that phones are necessities.

It's strictly ones opinion whether phones are a luxury or necessity. That's a whole other topic that probably has it's own thread

If it comes down to having money to buy food for your children, or money for a cell phone, it's a no brainer

Okay lets "Stop the music". We are getting into personal areas that have nothing to do with what happened in this case. Please stay on topic.

Please everyone remember we DO NOT allow posters to attack each other. You must reply in a respectful manner or not at all.

We are only allowing main stream media links when it comes to information.

There is too much misinformation out there on the 8 zillion blogs and twitter accounts that are not considered main stream media.

Thank you,
Tricia

I have read enough to understand why people of Ferguson may be concerned that there are serious problems with their police department and some of their officers. And I am glad the Feds may be looking at it for that reason. I simply think this shooting is not as it was first presented the public or the residents of Ferguson by one very tall tale telling DJ. I find it very frustrating that an officer of the law who has never had one complaint made about his behavior by those same citizens that we are aware of (and if even one existed I feel reasonably confident Crump and Co. would have been shouting it from rooftops with bullhorns by now) is being railroaded for something he personally is not responsible for the greater good.

JMO IMO and all that jazzy jazz

Yup....."the greater good" is being ignored though. :sigh:

At some point before they release the information from the Grand Jury, if it is a no-bill, I would think one of the prosecutors will meet with the family to let them know the findings from the investigation. They may be aware of a lot more than we know already. I can't see making them suffer either way. JMO

oops we got offtrack. Sorry mods, back on topic we go.

Does anyone know if still more marching and protesting is planned for tonight in Ferguson or are things beginning to settle back into some semblance of normal? Are the kids going to school finally tomorrow? They are the ones I feel the worst for, aside from the lessons I think this situation is leaving them with, they need every opportunity to get their educations and this whole drama trauma has robbed them of some of those so far this year.

I would hope so. I was under the impression that families of victims of possible crime are kept abreast of such big developments. Whether I feel MB was victim of a crime notwithstanding, his family obviously does and I would hope they would be informed before the press and general public. Same goes for Officer Wilson.

IA. They should be informed, just anxious that they may not like the results.

I'd suggest it's not so stupid. They're goal is to bring attention to themselves. From reading this thread, attention is being given to them. I'd fully suspect that those who do it anticipate being arrested but figure the price of getting arrested is worth the benefit of drawing attention to their cause. Whether you agree with them or not is really not their primary concern.

So even negative attention is good attention. That could turn ugly if this continues much longer. MOO

And there will be certain agenda driven folks who will be thrilled with that turn of events. So will the press IMO because when it bleeds it leads as the old saying goes. This is a scary thought to me.

Speaking of "the community", I noticed today that Canfield Dr. is 7 mi. from Lambert-StL International Airport, requiring lots of workers, including low-skilled maintenance, shop clerks, parking attendants, etc. Ditto the hotels, eateries surrounding the airport. There are many isolated places where jobs are few or too far away, but not so for people in Ferguson imo.

And I'm sure a good number of those Ferguson residents work in that area IMO

Most people still have to pay the monthly charges. Our monthly fee for 2 phones is $120 per month. If I couldn't feed my children, the phones would be the first thing to go.

Feeding my children is a necessity, a cell phone is a luxury.

I don't understand how anyone can keep a job these days or do much without a phone. I know loads of people who are making low wages, and they would be lost without a phone. Employers are always reschduling their shifts, etc. No one does land lines anymore, just the cell. It's expected by employers that you have one these days. People who work for Walmart etc are paid so low these days they qualify for food stamps. Yep people blame the individuals who are taxed, but not Walmart who escapes paying their fare share and pays exploitive wages. IMHO, it's missing the big picture.

DeDee, I can't quite figure it out myself  I'm not one to ever make excuses for criminals and liars. I don't know why I feel this way.

I agree with every single word of your post and I know that DJ is partially responsible for this mess that plagues Ferguson. I just feel like this could be a real watershed moment for DJ. :dunno:

Maybe my brain is being taken over by alien mind control. Where is that tin foil hat?

I must really be off my rocker, but I remember everyone yelling about how the riots and looting were NOT the fault of the PD and their response. That the rioters and looters were responsible for their own actions. Maybe you weren't one to say that but now some of the blame at least is being removed from the rioters and looters and is placed on a 22 year old because of telling what he saw? Really just don't know what to think.

I am not assessing by which 'side' he supports. I am assessing by the credibilty of the story and it's surrounding facts. His original story made ZERO SENSE. None. But it seemed to be designed to 'cover' what witnesses saw when they saw the struggle. Instead of admitting that MB rushed the cop and punched him, DJ said that OW grabbed MB by the neck and tried to pull him into the car window. :waitasec:

I have NEVER ever heard of a cop, grabbing a huge muscular suspect by the neck, with his left arm, and try to pull him into the cop car through the window. Does that make any logical sense at all?

And then the 2 female witnesses then parroted same thing---'it looked like the cop was trying to pull MB thru the window into the car.' huh?

So if DJ goes ahead and tells a story that corroborates OW , I will find it much more credible. Partially because he will be 'switching' sides, admittedly.

Do I think it could look like he was trying to pull him into his car? Sure, but that's just a perception. Do I think he actually was? No, I think that's as likely as a <modsnip> dude trying to jump through a window to get a gun. More likely, if at all, the cop was trying to simply grab MB to stop him from going anywhere.

ETA - My apologies mods. I'll say big dude to convey that message.

There is at least one that no longer works because she quit her job so she could protest. Article is linked in the threads somewhere.
