I'd meant to type at least 5 but it's late and I'm watching a show.

I think people should close their businesses and leave town. Let the cough cough peaceful protesters have at it with no LE, no stores,no resturants. Allow them to implode.
And those calling for OW's death should be arrested AND CHARGED.
The town is full of people acting like mukalucks.

But, but CHERIE.T, how will the protesters stop interstate traffic without the mean police there to protect them from getting run over like a pack of armadillos? :waitasec:

Are there any 9/11 memorial events planned in the area tomorrow.... anyone local know?

Today, the process of meticulously placing the flags an equal distance apart over the 6 acres on Art Hill will begin. The holes will be measured and dug. On Saturday, more than 100 firefighters and police officers, along with another 150 volunteers, will erect the flags.

The exhibit will open to the public at 8:46 a.m. Sunday, marking the exact time 10 years ago that the first World Trade Center tower was struck, and remain on display for seven more days.

It matters when they surfaced because CNN was referring to it as "new" and some here wondered what new videos.

Gotcha. I always take that to mean new to CNN.

The way they showed' his hands it looked more like the position a football player might use when he goes towards a tackle.

Good point!

You just reminded me, thank you. This was another piece of information that I noticed.

Michael Brown will be remembered on the football field this weekend.

Brown played football at Normandy High School, which is now the Normandy Collaborative High School, and played offensive tackle.

TThe offensive tackle position is one of the toughest to play in the NFL. It takes a rare breed of size, strength, technique, quickness and athleticism to succeed. Unlike their counterparts to the inside, the tackle HAS to be strong enough to move defensive ends and defensive tackles, quick enough to drop into his kick-slide against a speed-rusher, solid enough in his hands to deliver a jarring blow to a defender that will knock him off his pursuit path, and agile enough to work in space against a smaller linebacker or corner.

The hand-punch is a weapon for the offensive tackle in pass-pro. Delivering a good punch to the defender can knock him off balance, and divert his path to the quarterback. You often hear scouts use the term "heavy hands" when referring to an offensive tackle, and believe me, this is a good thing. One of the best offensive tackles I have even had the pleasure of watching was Jonathan Ogden. He had some of the heaviest hands I have ever seen. His punch was so jarring, that he would often d-rail a pass-rusher withing two seconds of the ball being snapped.

Michael was the size of these NFL players too. I think Officer Wilson had reason to be afraid. Imagine wrestling for the gun with someone with this size and skillset.

I think it was reported that at one point during their struggle, the gun was turned into Darren's hip. He might have bruises on more than his face.

Oh, and does anyone honestly and truly believe that having one's hands up means they are not a threat?

Especially if they are humongous
and the situation isn't congenial?

Because if they do, and aren't just blowing hot air for an agenda, I hope they hot-foot themselves to a self-defense class website.

(I'm not even going to point out all the reasons to doubt that his hands were really up.)

I just pictured a ghost which his hands up to threaten and intimidate someone. Didn't MB make himself appear really big when he tried to scare someone? I just recently read it here, IIRC.

Could that have been the "hand up" gesture? To intimidate and scare? Combined with the daring words "are you going to shoot me"? Just a thought.

Yes, and IIRC, it was his own uncle who told us that.

I'll go get the link with quote now.

Here it is. It was his friend, though, not his uncle:

Mr. Brown tended to use his size to scare away potential trouble, Mr. Lewis said.

“He’ll swell up like, ‘I’m mad,’ and you’ll back off,” he said.

Id love a little demo of "swell up"

I imagine it looks similar to how he intimated that shopkeep.

And another niggling....I'm wondering if it wasn't Brown that at some point grabbed Wilson by the neck?

He grabbed the shopkeeper's neck area and neck grabbing was certainly on DJ's mind...he claimed Wilson grabbed Brown by the neck....but not a mark on Brown....

Interesting.....

Hm.

Officer Darren Wilson also reportedly suffered injuries to his face and neck.
