Above link, "Lauren Raab, Los Angeles Times | 3 weeks ago " w headline "Grand jury starts on Michael Brown case: What you need to know "-
refers to Officer "Willis" multiple times.

Pardon me--- who, Officer Wilson?

Saw that. Have also seen him referred to as Derrick.

with emphasis only on the fact that Michael was not "facing" any criminal charges and not "facing" any murder charges at the time of his death. It makes no assertion regarding whether Michael ever faced any charges in the past, or whether he was ever invovled in the juvenile justice system. Which is fine. If there are records, they are sealed pursuant to state law and will be only be unsealed if good cause exists.

But it's all so carefully crafted to bolster their tale. Which is designed to stir up emotions and increase conflict. There just can't be any admission of truth here. In their version, there was no store robbery, no drug use (despite tox screen results), no aggression toward the officer, no aggression possible at all by this victim. He was just a harmless child innocently walking to Grandma's, executed by a racist cop for absolutely no reason while he pleaded for his life.

There are no people of good faith speaking hard truth, explaining the justice system and representative democracy to this community. Just willful incitement based on emotion. I can see so many needs the people of that community have. The outside attorneys and professional agitators have no intention of sticking around to effect any change that would actually benefit those people. They know how the system works but aren't about to share that knowledge and dampen the "enthusiasm" that brings the cameras and keeps the focus and thus ups the ante for the payday that will benefit very few.

It's just a very sad situation. I feel like, if anything, that community will end up even worse off and more divorced and alienated from the social norms most of us depend on. If only the "leaders" would teach them how to organize for change, register voters, groom candidates, teach our representative democratic system so they can participate. But then, what would the agitators agitate for? I feel like they have a vested interest in perpetuating a victim mentality because it's their bread and butter.

Nailed it.

In a separate move, some protesters plan to stage a boycott of Ferguson businesses starting Saturday. Many of the protests have largely been on West Florissant, further east. But Charles Mayo said he and others planned to picket outside of businesses on South Florissant every Saturday until business owners helped pressure Ferguson Mayor James Knowles and Police Chief Thomas Jackson to step down.

************************************************

So the protesters are going to try to bully the business owners into bullying Mayor Knowles and Chief Jackson to resign.

You use nearly the identical language that the local leadership used in announcing what a new program they will be running will do. I suspect in a year or two, the make up of the entire city council will change, there will be a different mayor and Chief of police.

Speaking of Chief Jackson...does he survive this? And I DON'T MEAN LITERALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obviously DW cannot work in Ferguson and may have no interest in returning to patrol duty as katy indicated. Can Chief Jackson effectively remain Chief? I think he can but will ultimately be replaced, but not until down the road.

Well, nevermind what I just said about Chief Jackson. If they want the mayor gone, they just need to get enough signatures and recall him.

[h=1]Ferguson protesters say they weren't served at brewery[/h]
A group of about 10 protesters went to Ferguson Brewing Company on South Florissant Road about 9 p.m. Thursday to eat, said Natasha Gray, who was standing with a small group of protesters on South Florissant Friday afternoon. “They just said no, no, no, no,” said Gray.

The group left, but returned later with more protesters. Orlando Brown said he was among the second group, which numbered about 25. They sat down to see if they would be served, and they were, Brown said. But he and Gray both said they didn’t order any food. “Who’s going to eat there after they told us no first?” Brown said. “Your first reaction is your true reaction.”

Stop looking for trouble and go home.

Don't forget all the council members. They want them all gone, too

Aaten-White says it took some persistence to get police to respond to her gunshot wound to the head.

“We had to call 911 three times before we got a response vehicle there,” she said. “When they arrived, officers came with guns drawn. They questioned the homeowners about how long they’ve lived in the house; if it was under their name, and asked me what happened. I said ‘I was shot,’ obviously.’”
********************************************************
She called police during a violent protest, when every single available LE AND LE from different counties were trying to keep order and then complains that it took them too long to get there. :sigh:

And then also complains that they were on high alert and asking lots of questions when they got there. I would have too, because I would have been worried that I was walking into an ambush

She's "shot in the head" by one of her fellow "peaceful protestors" and she doesn't trust the police???
What am I missing?
Why call the police?

Yes, yes! I commented earlier that I didn't know if I was being overly cynical, but I felt it was all way too carefully worded. his descriptions of MBs innocence needed a closer look. We were discussing earlier whether or not the GJ having access to this info? Any thoughts on that?

As for the last 1/2 of your post, it's one of the saddest parts of this case. :(

Why would she need an attorney if she did nothing wrong? That makes no sense. In fact, a lot of her story sounds screwy.

Just a few thoughts & questions coming to mind now: how does the black community feel about & respond to a largely black police force? Does the black community feel a black officer has sold out "to the ma" and is now an "Uncle Tom"? Do they feel he now has the elusive "white card" (whatever that means?). Do they resent him more? And how does the black LE feels about black criminals---is he more harsher, or less??
