Older guy walks up to me. "This is crazy. This is not what it's for." Young guys run past with beer boxes. "Why," he says to them. "Why."

Matt Pearce @mattdpearce · 6h
"Y'all want to buy something?" a young man walks up to a couple young men with a box of liquor. "Three for a dollar." (A few minutes ago.)

The people who aren't doing anything wrong want us to emphasize that there are people who have been trying to protect the store

Matt Pearce @mattdpearce · 5h
There is also immense, immense frustration at white journalists documenting looting.

Like, these are the people taking the pictures, and these are their subjects. You get the idea. pic.twitter.com/ziIrpvfn0y

All the looters just broke out of here everyone chanting "Walmart!" I think they're headed to a Walmart to loot?

Many people just sped off saying "Let's go to Walmart!" #Ferguson

Matt Pearce @mattdpearce · 4h
All quiet at Walmart, apparently. Couple of security cars with flashing lights out front and a couple of cars circling the parking lot.

Matt Pearce @mattdpearce · 4h
Stopped my car to email my boss and someone tried to get into my car.

Just a couple of his tweets from overnight.

Those journalists have to be sweating it. I sure hope nothing happens to Lowry. :)

from the link above...

so, the stop had nothing to do with the store theft..as it has been said many times..

I just hope the FBI/DOJ get to the truth.
Read the post right below you or many of the posts upthread.

Also in the article...which explains the cigars imo.

Mr. Brown was still a teenager: He smoked marijuana with friends in the neighborhood, they recalled, and drank cans of Bud Light with them when he ducked away from the watchful eyes of his family.

And?

So what if he smokes weed...many productive members of society smoke weed...SMH

Does that mean this young man should be executed?

Does that mean it's okay for any officer to shoot someone who is in surrender position?

Na, not buying anything that's being sold here.. LE had days to cover for the officer who executed a young man. He should have placed him under arrest. Last shot the officer fired was in the forehead of Mike Brown..

I'm not assuming, I'm going by witness accounts..not one witness corroborates the officer's thru the Chief's account. Then going my the officer's lady friend who spoke out on a radio show, told of the last shot was in the forehead...how is that okay?

please do not tell me not to assume. I don't believe you should be doing that...

The officer's friend in the radio interview told of the victim attacking the officer in the car, then she said the victim later challenged the officer and ran at him, requiring the officer to fire multiple shots to subdue him. In that moment, IF the victim assaulted the officer in the car and then rushed the officer the second time, what should the officer do?

Honestly, I have no idea whether this interview is real or not. Just asking you, IF these were the circumstances, how should the cop deal with 6'4" and nearly 300 lbs of suspect who obviously has no respect for the law?

Police checking on store owners. A little too late they say. #ferguson

Shimon Prokupecz @ShimonPro · 2h

Police have been on 12 hour shifts 7 days a week. Store owners want to know why they didn't stop the looters.

Shimon Prokupecz @ShimonPro · 2h

Just amazing how so many community members woke up so early to help clean up #ferguson

What is your opinion of the witness stories not matching? D. Johnson lied, there are discrepancies between all three about the type of vehicle and where the officer struggled with Brown, either through the window or in Crenshaw's case, back seat.

This may well be a case of a bad shoot by the officer and if it is proven to be that, prosecute him to the fullest. You are portraying this story after what we knew in the first two days, you seem to give no weight to D. Johnson's lies or admission they stole the cigars. What motive did the cop have in the seconds between driving ahead and then backing up to confront the teens, what changed? Suddenly he decided to execute one of them? Why just one of them?

Right now I'm waiting to see if it stops raining, if it does I will be loading up my Jeep to go exhibit my crafts at an outdoor market, I was supposed to be there awhile ago but it hasn't stopped raining. If it doesn't, I wonder if I should put on my rain poncho and help with the clean up. I don't care if I get wet but it's bad if my merchandise gets wet! I'll keep up with the news and weather and play it by ear. You know, this site is a much better news source than the radio or TV in terms of making decisions about what to do with my day! I guess because it's tuned into SM and the moderation is good and there is an emphasis on what is fact or not.

Great link. So many people can't understand why citizens would want/need AR style rifles like the one being held by the owner in the video; a small capacity hand gun would be little comfort when facing a mob of looters.

So let me get this straight. The police, whichever ones are supposedly in charge, after Ferguson LE was pushed aside, did nothing about the looting?

It seems to me that the Ferguson LE knew what they were doing with their armored vehicle and swat? team. Maybe this is what the State wanted, appease the looters, appease the people, appease, let 'em loot and steal. Great way to bring understanding and heeling to the community.

I've read/seen on video/heard that the looters weren't from Ferguson. What did they (whomever they are) do, get their names and addresses? I don't think so. I think it's another lie among so many lies in that place.

If I were a business owner, I'd take the insurance money, run, and never look back on a place like Ferguson or it's citizens. Yeah, I'm angry at the lawlessness that is allowed to happen.

My opinion only

Who is the real Michael Brown? I think Officer Wilson may have met him that day. jmo

So am I. This is a battle against who wants a community that good people want to live in and who wants one where criminals are in charge and people who want a civilized society have the gangs' feet on their necks. This same battle is going on all over the world in different spots. There are lots of people in Ferguson who want a good community, I hope they can win this.

Wow the video released of this "innocent victim" was pretty scary. That poor guy he assaulted at the store must have been terrified.

I just want to say I really appreciate you posting your thoughts, opinions and knowledge of the area and politics. If you go to the art exhibit or to help clean-up, I hope you stay safe.

Yeah, and the store owner was told by the authorities that the police were protecting the store from looting as he WATCHED IT HAPPENING on the tv footage!

Sort of reminds me of when 911 operators told the folks in the second Twin Tower to "stay where you are, don't go anywhere just stay put, the authorities have it under control" shortly before the second plane hit.

Thanks a lot! The market I would go to is not near this, I think it will be ok during the day, just got my hair cut across the street from where it takes place yesterday, and nothing unusual was going on. I left a message on the answering machine of my friend who lives a few blocks from the epicenter on all of this to see what he thinks before I seriously consider going over there. I am very inspired to see people cleaning up and I want to encourage them! Appeals to the leadership part of my personality I guess! I'm always inspired when people think for themselves and don't wait for the government to fix it for them. Sometimes the government does the right thing, often they don't. In my opinion sometimes they don't care, sometimes the culture of where they work punishes creative thinking so they stop doing it. Sometimes you have to think for yourself. I wonder how the Ferguson Farmer's market is going today. They have a popular one that is well-known throughout the region. Maybe rained out.

The thugs are sleeping off a long night, you will definitely be okay during the day.

Oh these business owners will open again although it's a high crime area the money they make off of these residents is very good. The shop keepers take the risk and take the profits to their own community. Outside of church and maybe beauty shops what other businesses thrive in those communities? There is no or very little pride in ownership. Don't own it don't care steal, loot, burn. This whole thing is awful.

See how easily Brown grabbed the store clerk, come on how many times had he done that before... On that day it was the last time. Jmo

Only because I'm not quite certain DJ was coerced into this. Why was he not arrested?

I do agree with if this is a bad shoot the officer should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. It appears to me, he might just get arrested..

No other witness accounts come close to what the lady friend of the officer has stated. By her account with the last shot to the forehead, sure appears to be over kill...

Release the ME report, release the amount of bullets this officer fired into someone who 3 say was in surrender position, hands raised, getting to his knees.

I saw a lot of "pride of ownership" in the piece about Mike's Meat Market or whatever that store was that was completely destroyed inside - the ATM broken into and the cash register also destroyed, as well as all the merchandise. And they were hit on the first night of looting, also. They seemed to be in complete despair and kept calling it their community. I couldn't quite tell the nationality of the two owners (brothers?) but they might have been middle eastern.

Well talked to my friend and although his street is quiet, he thinks it's kind of insane to go into the epicenter of it on purpose, so I'll stay away. His roommate went to the protest and he told him he was nuts but do what you gotta do! So I'll listen to him. Apparently there is a cutoff of where the affected and unaffected parts of town are and he lives just on the right side of it.

Both he and I used to work at the same Wal-Mart. He's talked to some of the other people we both used to work with who still live in the area to see if they are ok, so far they are.
