A 50 dollar box of cigars. The same type that teens often use to roll their blunts.

Not clear on this. I read somewhere that Brown handed the BOX to Dorian Johnson, who put the box back on the counter. Then Brown snatched more cigars, shoved the clerk and took off. Am I mistaken? Not sure. JMO

Although I do not believe this was a racially motivated incident, for the sake of fairness in examining this issue at a broad level......we could flip what I've boldened in your statement and turn it around the other way too, can't we?
If we really want to examine fully this issue and others like it; we must look at it unbiasedly from every party's perspective.

After all, there are 2 sides to every story and the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

I say explore every facet. Examine all of the forensics, statistics, and anything measurable. Take opinion polls, gather evidence and research.

We need to solve this issue for our society and attempt to proactively address the need for peace and civility.

I agree, look at it all. The statistics on death during arrest, discharges of LE firearms during arrest against unarmed suspects, are there for those who wish to look. The evidence has been presented, attempts are made to raise the issue over the years, but how can we even talk about it or look at it when so many refuse to listen to any talk at all about racial bias? Yes it's an ugly subject but putting ones fingers in ones ears only assures that that the current flames die down only to explode again another day.

http://www.kctv5.com/story/26290847...-of-punching-store-clerk-moments-before-death

video at link from Kansas City media - a good 200 miles away

the video from the store starts at 0:22

Thanks for posting. So I see MB shoving the clerk when he tries to stop him from leaving with the cigars and then when the clerk tries to follow MB out of the store MB walks toward him in a threatening manner and scares him back into the store.

And WOW MB is one big dude and that clerk is tiny.

I'm still behind but will bump this anyway.

TY saw it. Where is the incident report authored by Wilson for the shooting? JMO

He stole Sweet Swisher cigars and was going to cut them and remove the tobacco, which would be replaced by weed. The result is called a "Blunt."
Do you have a link to an MSM report that he was going to cut and remove the tobacco and replace it with weed? Is this a fact?

Brown was a suspect in a strong-arm robbery (violence) and had just assaulted the officer and tried to take his weapon (violence, violence) so the officer did his first duty which was try to protect the public from further violence by MB. I think if it had been in an area crowded with people, the officer probably would have given chase and called for back up. But it sounds to me that Brown was aggressively moving toward the officer and continued to move toward him even after initial shots were fired at him.

JMO

If you believe the cop's story, he assaulted the cop. I don't buy it. MB knows the cop is armed; there's a big difference between strong arming a small, unarmed store clerk and assaulting an armed cop.

in his gramma's own neighborhood - but I don't discount Dorian Johnson's culpability in this tragic situation . . . 4 yrs older & such

Attention Please!

Do not make up things about the victim that are not out in the MSM. He was filmed allegedly stealing a box of cigars. What he was going to do with them when he got a chance, we do NOT know.

MB is a victim.

TIA for your cooperation,
fran

He was blocking traffic, not jaywalking. He was being arrogant. jmo

probably still under investigation with the FBI & StL County PD as they are still under investigation of the incident -- Ferguson PD is a municipal force & I think it was on Sunday that the County took over . . . then the feds came in

Not with highway patrolmen accustomed to stopping speeders in rural Missouri.

ITA. Not that those troopers aren't as nice as can be when they are writing you the ticket. My daughter was very impressed with his cuteness factor. He smiled at her and suggested I let her drive. She was 12.

I'm shocked at how they are handling this. Announcing they won't use tanks or tear gas? Why not just unlock the stores and hold the doors?

Michael Brown did not die because he was a black male. Michael Brown did not die because the Police Officer was a racist.

Michael Brown died because he was a criminal who resisted Police confrontation. The PO may not have known initially that MB was a suspect in a robbery but Michael Brown himself knew that he had just brazenly committed the crime of robbery.

Watching the video shows me that he was a bully, imo. He had no fear. He assaulted the owner when, with his open fist, he shoved the store owner's throat. He calmly exited the business as if he had the right to get something for free.

Many, too many, in our society of today feel entitled to free stuff. MB may have felt he could commit the theft without suffering repercussions. As someone here wrote earlier, this wass most likely not MBs first crime. To that I shall add but it will be his last.

omo mho omho and all that jazz
I tend to doubt it was his first, too. Note in the pdf (I posted the link just above - #1051, I think) that his birthday is 5/20, so his legal record prior to 3 months ago would likely be sealed. We can't know right now.

I think another interesting thing in the pdf is the status of his driver's license. (same for his friend's, if I remember correctly.)

Also, what bothers me a lot in the video is that, even after he had shoved the guy's throat and was halfway out of the store, he turned around and got in the manager's face again.

I'm very glad I've never been gunned down for walking in the road. I've jaywalkers during the day many, many times, and late at night I've walked down plenty of empty streets because there's no traffic. If it's a death penalty crime to do so, I guess I should have been dead long ago.

sure hope you're not walking down a street (the middle of it) heavily used by apt complex residents trying to get home . . .

and while there is a "sick call" in the area where EMS needed to be (initial call to officer "on media trial" )

What is this about? Walking down the middle of the street? Is that what he did after he robbed the store?

Hmmm. Where are all the "blocked" drivers who surely witnessed the incident? Why haven't we heard from them? I agree that he was jaywalking, and I'll accept that it was rather arrogant of him to not move out of the way when told to by Wilson. JMO
