Not for this Rams game. I think they expect 'thousands' of global leaders during their big Ferguson weekend, october 13th. And I think, not sure, that is when the Rams are on Monday nighr football?

ETA:
The Organization for Black Struggle is calling for activists to converge on Ferguson, Missouri from October 10 to the 13 for large demonstrations and civil disobedience. The actions are an effort to call attention to police brutality, militarized police, structural violence and systemic racism. Beginning on October 9 thousands of leaders from around the country will arrive in Ferguson for training session. Saturday October 11 there will be a large mobilization march leading to “civil disobedience and major demonstrations at significant targets” on Monday October 13th.

This is relevant to show MB's state of mind and behavior shortly before MB/OW incident. Admissible relevant evidence.

Maybe

But to release the video before you release info about ow left a bad taste in my mouth

I saw nothing saying the PLAYERS donated, only the fans,
from last Paragraph:

"Umar Lee also sent out a tweet thanking the St. Louis Rams fans who have already donated tickets to the protest. The Rams have been atrocious this season, and the Cowboys haven’t been much better. Given the poor quality of play as well as the widely publicized revelations that the NFL is an empty moral chasm of coverup and abuse, the specter of in-stadium demonstrators might actually be the only thing that makes this Sunday’s game worth watching."

Yeah, I saw that. Thanks. So they have maybe a dozen tickets spread throughout 60,000 seats or whatever the dome holds?

Exactly! That's why the video and stills will be seen by the grand jury.
And it was released in response to FOI requests, no matter what the spin and attempts to deflect tried to say.

Ferguson City Attorney Stephanie Karr makes Statement on FOI Requests

Ferguson, Missouri – September 5th, 2014 - Within days of the tragic events on August 9, the City of Ferguson began receiving multiple requests for information and documents. While some of these requests were made in writing, many requests were made verbally due to the fact that the City’s website and email were down at several points during that week. City personnel cataloged all requests and treated them in the same manner as it would any Sunshine Law request. (The “Sunshine Law” is Missouri’s equivalent of the federal Freedom of Information Act).
Several reporters, news organizations and others asked for documents specifically pertaining to Michael Brown. One such request was made by the St. Louis Post Dispatch. On August 12, 2014, the paper requested “all documentation concerning the events leading up to and including the shooting of Michael Brown” which shall include “incident, arrest and investigative reports, 911 audio, photos and video retained by the police department.” Another request, made on August 14, 2014, by Judicial Watch requested all records relating to Michael Brown and dated between August 1, 2013, and August 9, 2014.
The Sunshine Law dictates that Governmental entities must respond to both general requests and specific requests and release all documents that are responsive to the those requests, unless those documents are otherwise closed.
The Ferguson police department retained the incident and investigative report of the store robbery which occurred less than 10 minutes before the shooting. The reports, which included the surveillance video, concerned Michael Brown. Under the Sunshine Law, the police department had no reason to close these records and withhold them from the public.
By the date of August 15, the City having reached its statutory deadline to respond to the information requests, released the store robbery reports, including the surveillance video.

Update 9/15/14: Mayor Knowles specifically mentioned that days before the August 15 tape release, reporters from KTVI FOX 2 asked him about the existence of surveillance footage of Brown Jr. shoplifting. Daily RFT just heard back from anchor Mandy Murphey via email who said she is the one who asked: "I asked him about the robbery video because I had learned about it several days before it was released. I asked him the question and he gave me no information about it. He said he didn't know anything about it at the time. I put in a formal sunshine request for the documented information leading up to the shooting."

According to the cheif of the ferguson pd, ow had no knowledge of the robbery at the time of the shooting...that is part of the reason why there was a big outrage when the video of brown in the convient store was released

The incident started when ow stopped mb and friend and told them to get out the street. Words were exchanged and that is when johnson said wilson grabbed brown

THere has been more info released since then. He did hear have the opportunity to hear the BOLO and he did see the cigars. But that is not even that important. The crucial question is WHO was the aggressor?

'Words' were exchanged? A cop tells 2 teens to stop blocking traffic and get out of the road, and 'words' are exchanged?

You are right, that is when 'Johnson said' Wilson grabbed Brown. But that is not the truth about what happened. There are witnesses who saw what really happened. And forensics which show what happened. And that is why Wilson has not been arrested, imo/

Johnson made up that story. It is hogwash.

BBM.
I'm confused about the bolded portion of your opinion.

It's the Grand Jury that issues the indictment. Either a true bill or a no bill.

Our DA is the person who decides if a case goes to a Grand Jury here in upstate NY (unless a special prosecutor gets involved; which is extraordinarily unusual, btw) but the members of the GJ are the folks that make the decision whether a case goes to trial or plead etc...or not. I had to walk away from this case for a while to retain my sanity. Your post appears to be 2 days old. I'm uncertain if you will see it or not. If another member could clarify, TIA. It could be that I'm misunderstanding what you are conveying, reading it incorrectly or whatnot.

That's just how much influence I believe the prosecuting attorney has in front of a grand jury. Part of my beliefs on that is not just the results but also talking to my friend who is on staff with McCulloch's office and those kind of statements go back years, not just in response to MB's case.

a scenario can still exist where the shooting was unjustified.

Even if a scenario is possible where the shooting was unjustified, that wouldn't mean OW was guilty. Only if that scenario is the only reasonably possible scenario, beyond a reasonable doubt, would it be right to convict OW.

  • #869
What about what happened 100+ feet from the vehicle, both with MB and OW? Because all of that stuff could be true and a scenario can still exist where the shooting was unjustified.

Great point

I think what he is trying to say is that the prosecutor has a big role in which evidence is shown to the GJ. However in this case, he has already said he would have his prosecutors show EVERYTHING, and let the GJ decide what to charge or not charge.

C'mon katydid. We both know it's not just about what you show them but how you show them, the order it's presented in and so forth. No different than the same word can have multiple meanings depending on how it is said.

BBM

Wonder what's covered in the training session. I didn't realize people 'trained' for protesting :dunno:

You're wrong. Watch the video of the presser previously provided to you. He said at first contact ...first contact!
Then Wilson began to drive away...then he backed up...IMO it's logical to assume at the time he re engaged it was because he became aware of the robbery and saw brown with stolen goods

Link?

And what does that mean exaclty

Did he suspect mb once they came face to face

Be nice if there was a detailed police report of the incident...smh

Interesting. 12 posts in and asking for a link. As I said, it's in my longer response to you.

Do you think there isn't a detailed police report?

Okay, I sacrificed an hour, and took one for the team. I actually sat and watched the entire hour of Rev Al Sharpton show just now. I was really curious to see if he was going to mention the Rams game. Either to encourage or discourage the protests. He didn't say a peep. Actually never mentioned Ferguson. Although he spent the entire show on the problems in the NFL.

Telling ya, I don't think he likes Shahid's approach. I know many don't like him, and on many points I would agree with those that don't care for him, but if you listen to his words, even in protesting, it is not consistent with Shahid's approach.

Great post and that's what the evidence we know of so far seems to suggest. I will wait for all of the evidence, but can't argue with any of that based on what is actually known so far. I would only also add that not only was there no bruising on MB's knuckles, but in the video at the scene, I couldn't see any visible signs of injury to OW and neither him nor the other officer seemed to pay his eye any attention, though that video was shot from quite a distance.

Do you believe all the reports that Wilson was injured are false? Even in light of Park's statements?

Liar! Pants are on Fire!!

we really should stop reading so much into this social media aka Twitter

and the Cards are playing with zero protesters this fine Friday evening :)

And they are winning!!!!!!!!!

Maybe

But to release the video before you release info about ow left a bad taste in my mouth

Are you more worried about the taste in your mouth or seeking the truth?
What Brown was doing 10 minutes before he encountered is VERY relevant .imo

He had to release the video. His town was about to implode. That video took the air out of the balloon. Everything calmed down a bit as some of the outrage was tampered down. It put a dent in the 'choir boy walking to Grandmas house' narrative.

This kind of thinking continues to bother me. Legally, OW starts out vindicated, just like everyone else. There is no burden on OW or his legal team to vindicate him. Right now, he is no more guilty of anything than you or I.

Meh. To me means you were right and later shown to be right the whole time. In this context, you were innocent and the lack of an indictment reinforces the fact you were innocent.

Reminds of something Bill Clinton might say!
