OK-I need to tread carefully here, so I will present this as a "theory" at this point. I wish I could take credit for the theory, but figured I would at least mention it here and see what you guys think. The "theory" is that it would be quite likely that if OW found himself in a very dangerous situation, there is a strong liklihood that he would use a feature on his body mike that would do 2 things. It would put out an "officer in distress" signal as well as RECORD everything that was said after pressing the mike, due to its lock feature on it. It is my understanding that this is a common feature on the types of body mikes worn by officers and would be a simple button for an officer to push, based on his familiarity with the equipment.
Here is a screen shot from Piaget's video of OW in the street shortly after the shooting.
You can clearly see that OW is indeed wearing what appears to be a body mike, and you can see his fellow officer actually using his as well. Watching the video helps as well:

I am not sure if this is the same mike used by OW, but here is a photo showing the different buttons on a standard issue body mike. I can't take credit for this, as someone else shared it, but wanted to share it with you guys:
NOW....how interesting would it be if OW did, in fact, choose to activate the emergency feature on his mike when he was first assaulted in the vehicle, and just how enlightening might any audio that would have been recorded from that moment forward??
