Does anyone know if the officer got out of the vehicle before being pushed back in/the door ricocheting closed? I can't find anything on it, but I feel like that's a pretty important key in the possible assault.

I don't think Eric Holder, head of the DOJ, is going to bring in the Natl Guard. He is more likely to bring in caterers for the protestors, imo.

It would appear by now he has lost some of his influence and usefulness --- he (Al) is becoming a caricature . There are other cities with worse violence he could be addressing ; imo.

I don't think this is fair. You are conflating the protestors - who have a perfect right to be present, voice their anger, and demand change (because the issue the are protesting is larger than just MB and this investigation; they are protesting too the larger issue of bias on the part of LE when dealing with black males). The protestors have every right to expect and demand that LE do their jobs of enforcing the law (protecting the law abiding and protection from looting) while at the same time NOT overstepping by rolling out military gear and snipers during peaceful daytime protests. Citizens do not give up their rights to have the police do their actual jobs simply because they protest.

Folks have the right to exercise their 1st amendment rights and to peacefully protest.

But many of these same folks (peaceful protesters) insisted that it was LE's fault that violence (throwing bottles, throwing molatov cocktails, vandalizing, looting) occurred because LE were in formation up the street. Many of the same folks blamed LE for the violence and said that if LE would stand down, the violence would disappear.

The opposite was proven to be true the night of Friday, August 15th. I watched it in real time via a live feed, along with many other posters here.

I think it's not only completely fair, but it's also absolutely necessary, to note the hypocrisy of those (both peaceful protesters & MSM talking heads) blaming LE for the violence & looting and demanding that they stand down (claiming that if LE stays away that everything will be hunky-dory), and then when LE does stand down (under Captain Johnson's orders) and looting occurs, to then complain that LE didn't respond.

They can't have it both ways.

I have watched several interviews with Dorian Johnson (Mike Brown's friend) on his story of the events leading up to the shooting. Not sure if this has been discussed, sorry if it has.

DJ says the officer (Darren Wilson) drove up beside the two who were walking in the street and told them to "get the eff on the sidewalk". DJ said he explained they were nearly to their destination, the officer kept driving. Dorian said the officer then backed up to the two of them one or 2 seconds later (they were still on the street) and couldn't exit his police car because the boys were positioned so close to the door ("it ricocheted off us" when he tried to open the car door), DJ speculated maybe that made the officer upset. DJ says Officer Wilson then grabbed MB's neck with his left hand, through the open window, while still seated in the car and tried to choke MB while MB tried to back away but couldn't.

DJ said that's when MB was first shot. The officer pointed the gun at them with his right hand while still holding and pulling/ tugging Mike Brown through the window. (Other witnesses describe a scuffle- officer in car, MB outside driver window as well but couldn't see what was happening inside the car). Any thoughts on this part of the story? It's hard for me to imagine MB not being able to break a one-armed grip while standing, but that's jmo.

I don't know what to think, other than I'm sure things happened extremely quickly, and being so close to the car, and some kind of scuffle happening, DJ is probably explaining it simply to the best of his ability. He may be missing parts, he might be filling in by supposition things he actually didn't see because of the circumstances (there is interesting research on how during trauma/disturbing events or even just significant remembrances our brain "fills in" the smaller details that we might have actually missed in the moment).

One would think that if the officer was still sitting when grabbing MB, then he would have been able to throw his body weight enough to break the grip. On the other hand, MB might have been off balance due to the door having "ricocheted" off the two young men and back into the officer. Te officer might have been in the process of getting up and not fully seated... Wish we knew. This is why I think each cop should be equipped with a camera!

Dispatch was called by multiple witness's stating that there a was an officer involved shooting. When dispatch called Ferguson police, they denied it for at least 45mins- to an hour. Then they finally admitted it because they needed help with crowd control. Ferguson's handling of this was wrong from the start!

I don't think the protestors (and really, there is no one voice of the protestor. We should actually speak instead of "those protestors who were interviewed" or something) blamed the Looting on LE presence. I did hear the complaint - which I agree with - that a heavy, militarized presence such that we saw during a daytime protest - would only serve to inflame people's emotions and anger.

I'm pretty sure that scanner clip was from St Louis Cty, not Ferguson. I read that Ferguson pd scanners are not broadcast, so this was posted. I believe SLC was asked for back up for crowd that day and that clip doesn't have anything on it referencing the robbery or the shooting. IMO, that's how I understood what I heard about that Anonymous clip elsewhere (not sure where I heard that tho!)

My prediction is that the downfall of Johnson will continue now that aome peoe hear he actually has sympathy for MBs family, and can relate to the many experiences of young black men who have been hassled by LE, no matter what social class, educational level, they are.

No, according to Dorian Johnson, the officer couldn't open the car door when he pulled next to the boys and quickly grabbed Mike's neck from the seat of the car when he couldn't open the car door to get out.

Thank Goodness this video is finally getting some media attention. I hope it's brought to the attention of the DOJ and FBI.

When I went to click on it to read and watch the video, it said there were about 2 million views. It's now showing almost 3.5 million.
