Here are some gang signs and what they mean to one another . A lot of it is about "declaring" which gang you are involved in

http://northtownmud.org/docs/IPTM_Basic_Street_Gangs_Hand_Signs1.pdf

B ut the problem with that is MILLIONS of teens take selfies throwing 'gang' signs. It does not mean they are in gangs. They also signify neighborhoods, friendships, area codes etc.

My daughter and my son BOTH have taken pictures in the past 'throwing signs.' Neither of them have ever been anywhere near a gang.

Unfortunately our pop culture has made it 'cool' to make signs even without an affiliation-- either something folks strive to join or try to pretend to be a part of a lifestyle. I'm trying to decide when that happened-- I'm 41 and would have NEVER flashed a sign of any kind (gang or even peace) or taken a naked pic or anything that kids do today. I guess I'm just uncool!

Trying to find out. I'm not getting the impression that he's mainstream media (like LA Times), though, so although he's apparently working hard on it, and says there's going to be a hard time in the court today, I don't think he's going to pass the creds for tweetable people here. I have no idea who he confirmed it with.

We need to be careful... Keep digging, but it would be bad to get this wrong...

I agree. This guy may be taking us down a rabbit hole. The name Michael Brown couldnt be more difficult to verify as it is so very common.

My son is 26 and when he was 14 and 15, he and his friends used the deaf sign language alphabet to make up their own 'finger signs' and always used them in pictures. lol When you look at them now they look like gang signs being thrown.

Ha ha-- that is hilarious about using the deaf sign language alpha for signs!

Its gang signing even the head posture is part of it all !!

However, they are DEMANDING that he be arrested immediately and insisting he be found gUILTY or else. Even Browns parents are making that demand. They said today on tv that the officer needs to be arrested, brought to justice, successfully, for them to have any resolution.

So Wilson is now a scapegoat. YES, the protests are about much more than Wilson, but he will be paying the price and will be sacrificed, in exchange.

I'm hoping Holder is aware of these NEW POSSIBLE developments, and seeks to temper attitudes as this may prove to be a justified shooting. hopefully defusing the "MB was assassinated," and the "he was shot down like a dog," rhetoric that has been fueling a lot of this unrest.

Ugggh, is anyone else getting close to OVER this nonsense? Unfortunately I can't look away, but I'm just exhausted at these protests and demands and utter ignorance coming out of Ferguson and all the folks involved.

I believe I need to take a break from coverage until all the facts come out-- the officer's story, MB's record, other survellance cameras-- basically the full investigation. There has to be a reason why the PD investigation facts aren't coming out-- I hope it's to show in clear terms what happened.

Between the attorneys, the looters, the leaches (Sharpton, et al), Obama and Holder, this has turned into a kabuki theater show.

I predict when all evidence is shown, either it will out-right clear the officer or there won't be enough evidence to convict. My only fear is that the community will turn all cray-cray again, or my hope is they'll be exhausted by that time.

I thought when the violence started the protests would slow down. The really scary part of it at this point IMO of time is it just does not seem like it is stopping any time soon. Just the notion of "sleep deprivation" for the folks who just live there is a valid entity! It is like powerlessness last night was really intense

and just as a country it is sad the world is watching this too

Holder is the LAST person to tamp things down. He will be stirring the pot, imo. He is there to try and pressure the prosecutor to arrest the officer as soon as possible, imo.

I found a few on his twitter - you just have to scroll a lot. I took screenshots, but I'm on Tapatalk. Don't remember my password or I'd go to a browse and post them... Although I kind of expect this line of discussion to get removed

That's pretty big news all by itself... Could be from a fist, and would affect vision...

Will that news be reported by MSM? IMo likely not.

A crowd fund page has been set up to Support Officer Darren Wilson is currently sitting around 23,000$ #Ferguson

If this goes to trial I predict a LOT of folks will send funds to support Officer Wilson. Hopefully he will be able to keep the money and not have to spend it on lawyers for appeals and such.

(ETA I was hoping there would be a fund, thank you for that Popsicle! Going there now).

Redskins players show solidarity with Ferguson protest with 'Hands up, don't shoot' gesture http://bit.ly/1yVTwRg

Safety Ryan Clark said Brown "could have been any one of us. That could have been any one of our brothers, our cousins. ... When you get an opportunity to make a statement and be more than a football player, it's good."

It was horrible....but how to stop it? - is the big question.

I'm afraid you're right. The modus operandi, judging by the DOJ and Gov's and others ' reactions to the video release is to suppress anything that doesn't support the narrative that officer Wilson should be convicted of whatever will make the rioters content.

Since when does a person who
steals
pushes
disobeys cops
become a hero supported by sports teams?
For me NEVER...smh.

The only reason anyone in that town would go "cray-cray" if Officer Wilson is not charged, hung, drawn, and quartered, is because they don't understand, or refuse to abide by our laws. If they don't understand our laws, maybe they should ask Johnson of the Highway Patrol. He ought to be able to enlighten them, or they could call Sharpton. If they refuse to abide by our laws and go cray-cray, bring in the heavy LE equipment. At that point, in my opinion, they would be domestic terrorists and should be dealt with accordingly.

My sympathy quotient is zero about now.
