I'm not sure that was the bikers I meant. But I hope and pray they work with the police to keep the peace. I have heard of them. If they are really there to keep the peace. I believe they will do it and get it done.

So anyway, for the last few nights my thoughts have kept coming back to a musical I once saw on the Broadway tour circuit. No, I'm not making that up. It didn't have a super long run, but if you love or can at least tolerate musicals, please, please find a way to watch it. I went and rewatched a whole college production of it on You Tube, which without all the bells and whistles of a pro show was still quite good. The first twenty minutes or so are expositional and I remember at the beginning feeling kind of like "meh." The lead character is - intentionally - not all that likable to start with. But pretty soon you'll be riveted - and stunned to see how relevant this true story from 1915 is to Ferguson today.

For those not so musically inclined, you can Google the story of Leo Frank if you don't already know it.

"Parade".

I have never been convinced Leo Frank was not the responsible party. He tried to frame a factory worker named Connelly, I think, and his (Frank's) attorneys claimed Connelly was suspect due to the propensity of his race to lying.

Connelly was black.

Frank was ultimately convicted. Then kidnapped from his jail cell, taken to Marietta and hanged from a tree by an angry mob who, I can only assume, believed Frank was possibly going to appeal and escape justice.

They took lots of pictures, with smiling participants gathered around the hanged body of Frank dressed only in his prison nightshirt. And some burlap sack wrapped around his lower half.

The whole story is a tragedy. IMO, Frank was likely the murderer/rapist, but because of vigilantism, he became a folk hero.

Many disagree and feel Frank was targeted because he was Jewish. I cannot say. I was not there. Just going on research and gut.

and I get it , but it scares me in a way (which is not ok!) but I just feel we ARE heading for some very serious riots , destruction of propery, in more than one city , deaths - and then I say (which also is sad) I guess if it gets that bad it might have to martail law. Posted a bit back but in light of learning that GJ takes half a year , Houston I think we might have a problem :



And remeber the $$ stuff was destrucion values like 22 years ago:

I don't think he plans on being a cop anymore. Maybe. But I think he is more afraid of he or his family being attacked or killed in retribution.

I hate that they are calling for the DA to step down. The state senator started that. The man can't be ousted from his job because his father was killed by a black man in 1964. That is not fair. imo

There will be a special prosecutor chosen and no grand jury neccessary if Mc Cullough is removed. Link upthread

People will have time to cool down...Americans have notoriously short attention spans.

If there weren't riots after the Zimmerman verdict, I highly doubt with time, distance and perspective there will be in this case. Mike Brown is no Trayvon Martin.

My own head almost exploded off my neck at the Zimmerman verdict. I couldn't even participate on the topic here on Websleuths. I think I set a record for timeouts.....

I think the overall majority of protesters are asking for justice. Although they may believe justice means Wilson convicted.
Why do you think there are so many that hold this conviction, yet here on Websleuths it seems we are getting the exact opposite reaction? I don't know the answer to that, I am asking because I really would like to know peoples opinions why.

You are growing on me CoolJ, still don't agree with you a lot about this case, but I don't feel a rise in pulse when you post as much as in the beginning. (Yes, this is more compliment than insult)

The reasons why are on these threads, reiterated with each new opening of the daily dose. What specifically is confusing to you, there have been 8750 posts on this case, I can't imagine an answer on the side of "justified" hasn't been given at least once. I can say I have yet to see a response from the "excessive" side with regards to the voice who indicated Mike went at Wilson in Black Canseco's video that was filmed a mere few minutes after the shooting though.

I am hoping this case dissuades my own son from wanting to be law enforcement...I talk to him about it every day.

I feel for the people who live in Ferguson that just want to live their lives and not involved in this mess. Afraid to go out even to a grocery store for well over a week. A man on CNN said his daughter (a single mom) and children live just behind the QT (they call it now ground zero) and have not been able to go the grocery store or get a decent nights sleep since all this began.

For what it's worth, an instructor from the Police Academy in Columbia, Mo called in to a talk radio station discussing this case had a couple comments that made sense to me. According to him, and I'm paraphrasing, an Officer would NOT remove a firearm from it's holster inside his vehicle ever unless being assault IN the vehicle. And IF the Officer could get out of the vehicle he certainly would and THEN draw his weapon and ONLY then. However if he had been assaulted in the vehicle and was trapped because of nearly 300 pounds of pressure against the door it could explain the "altercation" at the vehicle. Made sense to and matches up to what most of the witnesses concur.

Oh... that explains a lot. But Greta VS was saying she thought maybe he should step aside just in this case, not because he is not qualified, but because of the emotional nature of it and said he should appoint one of the assistant DA's in his office. The 2 guests did not agree with her...

Of course not, b/c if there isn't an indictment and conviction it ain't his fault.

One of the shows was debating this earlier. Someone put forth the idea that MCullan. (Sp?) should look at the long term implications. Should he have to recuse himself b/c of his ties to LO, and his fathers death? No. But if he doesn't, and there is no indictment, or if Wilson is acquitted, the community will never believe it was an unbiased process.

IDK, maybe they had a point.
