My post is not intended at all to disparage the victim's family. However, I think it's important to note the circumstances surrounding child abductions to work to prevent them in the future. To me, it seems fairly obvious that a child walking alone would be more at risk of abduction than one walking with an adult or in a group of children.
A close friend of mine lives in Springfield. She is close friends with one of Hailey's neighbors. (Obviously, I'm not going to say which neighbor.) Anyway, without delving into rumor or hearsay, yes, it is plausible that this perp "knew Hailey walked by herself at times."
Of course, it's also possible that the perp knew nothing of Hailey's walking habits & happened upon her by chance, saw that she was walking alone, & felt she would be easy prey.
This makes me even more cautious as a mother. It's horrendous that this world is not safe enough for our kids to walk a couple of blocks alone, during the day, without risk of ending up a lost life & a statistic.
