Here's something I don't understand. The police report says when they found a "possible body" in bags in the Rubbermaid tub they left and went to get a warrant. I know they were on a safety sweep at that time. But it doesn't say they checked to see if maybe the "possible body" still had a pulse or was still breathing? why not?

I wondered that, too. According to the earlier press release and the search warrant affidavit filed with the court, they discovered her body at about 2:40 AM, after entering house with the first warrant that was signed at 1:28 AM (per affadavit filed with court). They entered via back door (like I suspect CW did with Hailey) and went down the steps just inside that entry to the basement as it was reeking of bleach. They described opening the blue plastic tote and seeing the plastic bag with what appeared to be the contours of a small body inside--with head at one end and legs/feet at the other. But did they didn't touch or open the bag to determine it was her, instead putting the lid back on. They said they then went on to search the other rooms in the house while awaiting the FBI and crime lab detectives. When I read that, I figured that must mean that they knew that it was a dead body even without opening up the bag. Otherwise, they'd have opened it up, and tried to see if they could administer CPR, etc.

How they knew this is only speculative at this point. Maybe it was the amount of blood in the "pool" of blood also described in the tote, or maybe it was that they knew from 'interviewing' CW for 3 hours that she was already dead (he was booked on suspicion of murder at 11:30 PM, not arrested in his driveway like some media reported). I'm leaning toward the latter...that they knew this was a murder scene, not just a crime scene.

Here's a question I have...with all the child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 found, I didn't see where they had charged him with that as of yet. Maybe I missed it.

It'd be my guess that they are waiting until all that sort of evidence is complete--until the computers and cameras have all been thoroughly checked as well. IT evidence typically takes a bit longer to gather in these cases--days, not hours.

Missouri is a death penalty state and I don't see any reason for any plea deals in this case so I truly hope that this man gets the needle.

In regard to the "trust fund". IMO it could well be that the "trust" was set up by grandparents long ago to make sure the family farm "stays in the family". It could well be that the farm has been in the family for generations.

According to "Zillow" the family farm is 90 acres. That's a pretty good sized farm IMO.

If you take that address to Google Earth and go to street view, it looks like a Ford truck parked in the driveway. JMO but they should definitely check out that house and farm.

I am wondering if these two men knew each other. This recent case is being prosecuted in Springfield as well. There are several articles regarding this case, this just one. But apparently his first arrest was something like Dec. 5, 2013. This man's Mother turned him in. But this shows how the Feds get involved in these cases as well.
"SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – A Springfield man charged earlier in state court with 15 felony counts involving sex with family members ages 3 and 5 has now been charged in federal court."

"Ronald J. Mazza, 33, was named in a three-count federal grand jury indictment today on two counts of producing child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 and a third count of receiving and distributing child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 over the Internet, according to Tammy Dickinson, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri.

Today’s indictment alleges that Mazza used two minors to produce child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 between Aug. 1 and Dec. 1, 2013."

This man admits to have been filming and distributing these things for years. I am wondering if this guy and CMW were maybe BFF's.

They got his computer. Maybe CMW is on it. Something triggered this guy.

JMO but I think there might be a connection between these two. And maybe the FBI thinks so too?

"She told police she found about 80 photos and three videos. She also told police Mazza had taken the computer to a friend’s house two

days earlier, according to the statement."

Wood grew up in Marshfield MO where he graduated from Marshfield MO highschool.

"Hailey was born on Aug. 18, 2003 at St. John’s Hospital, now Mercy. When she was young, she lived in Marshfield, where her grandmother lives now. For a brief time the family lived out of state, but in recent years have lived in Springfield."

Curious that both lived in Marshfield which is about 30 miles east of Springfield. Wood moved away before Hailey was born.

jggordo, your link leads to an "Error 404.5 not found"--got a different one?

I guess it can vary state to state, but cattle is a huge money maker here.

Thanks. Do we know if he's running a cattle operation? He's a man well into his 70's. I'd like to think he's retired by now, perhaps renting out his pastures. Funny, when you zoom in on google maps you can even see a few cows around the pond.

Is there any explanation for why police were unable to locate her sooner? It sounds like the had the license plate at 4:30 in the afternoon.

I think I corrected it. But if having trouble, you can google the name and the various articles written. But according to google driving these two lived 6 miles apart. What are the odds? JMO

Thanks for fixing the link, jggordo! I'm trying to map the route the Hailey usually walked to her friend's house; anyone know what block of Page St. that would have started at?

Hailey's home is in the 3300 block of Page St.

Thanks, Methodical.

The reason I'm interested is that there is a Greene Cty registered sex offender listed on Page St, Springfield, MO. Just wondering, as the street doesn't appear to be that long. Sometimes these things are 'rings' - though we haven't been told there is anything larger going on here, yet. Seems there are quite a number of sex offenders in the Springfield area (including the one jggordo was mentioning up above).

ETA: It is longer than it first appears. Seems the street is split and then there are 3 more blocks that go eastward to Park Ave.

Yes, there's a massive amount of streets in Springfield that are much longer than they appear, as many 'appear to end' in just a few blocks, but really jump over a few 'gaps' and continue on, repeating the random gap/jump down it's entire length. That, plus you also have W. Page St and E. Page St, like most other E/W streets. Same way for the N/S streets.

It's disgusting, but there are 667 RSO's residing within Greene County, not counting the 205 Greene County RSO's that are presently in Department of Corrections (the latter is the better part).

I do have an a RSO map for the area (roughly 1/2 mile radius) around 3300 Page St, if that will help you and you want me to post that.

Can this be right? (Research on registered sex offenders in Hailey's zipcode):

According to our research of Missouri and other state lists there were 187 registered sex offenders living in zip code 65802 (Willard, MO) as of February 22, 2014.

This seems to be on the high end, doesn't it? Stats for this zipcode:

I'd be interested in taking a look at the map, yes. If we can't post it for some reason, I'd appreciate a PM with it--thanks!

ETA: I googled it and found it, so if you can't post it, don't worry about it.
