What on earth happened? Poor mother.

I can’t imagine what has happened to them. Their mother must have been frantic and very confused.

Oh my gosh! How horrible. What happened to these little girls? The poor mother!

WHERE "outside their home" were these little girls found?

Could it be secondary drowning? I’m not sure if that is the name?
A wild animal???? But then I think they wouldn’t say foul play isn’t suspected as they wouldn’t know how they got harmed.
Maybe they were poisoned? Ate berries/mushrooms or something outside?
Just my own random thoughts.

This article says the girls were found inside the home:

2 young sisters found dead inside their home in rural Clay County”

Clay County sheriff's Capt. Will Akin said the girls were found inside their home by their mother and were not breathing. Both girls were under 5 years old. The mother ran to a neighbor's house and the neighbor called 911. When paramedics arrived, the children passed away.

Authorities are waiting for a medical examiner to determine the exact cause of death.

Both neighbors and investigators say the incident is a tragic situation.

‘I can only imagine what it is like for any parent to lose two children, let alone one, is nothing more than tragic,’ Akin said.”

A couple of the possibilities I can think of right now are perhaps the girls accidentally ingested some sort of medication or household product, or a heavy piece of furniture falling on them.

Regardless of what happened, this is so tragic. Keeping the mom and the rest of the family in my thoughts and prayers.

Carbon monoxide poisoning perhaps?

I was thinking heat stroke/exhaustion, maybe?

Were these 2 children found dead INSIDE or OUTSIDE the house? Why the confusion?

Carbon monoxide poisoning perhaps?

In this video, the reporter says according to LE, they did not find any obvious injuries to the girls during the initial investigation.

Capt. Akin also speaks on camera, stating “The children looked like they were unharmed.”

Maybe a car was accidentally left running in the garage ... :(.

This is horrible.
I hope this is one time a medical examiner puts the examination on a super fast track to get some answers for these two little girls.

How very, very sad.

Heat exhaustion could be possible; they supposedly passed around noon on July 4th. Yesterday's temp. in Kearney, MO, was 90 degrees.

Hot car?

Very possible, yes.

I was brought up in a rural area. We never locked our cars. Maybe they were playing inside a vehicle.

As I posted above, the temp. on July 4th was 90 degrees. Per below, the vehicle's interior temp. could have been as much as 130 degrees:

When temperatures outside range from 80 degrees to 100 degrees, the temperature inside a car parked in direct sunlight can quickly climb to between 130 to 172, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The temperature inside a closed car rises most quickly during the first 15 minutes that it is left in the sun, according to the CDC.

I am thinking they died in the car thus the mother found them outside. She then took them inside and that would be why responders would find the girls inside the house.

Makes sense.

Two sisters under the age of five are found dead in front of home | Daily Mail Online

“The girls, who are sisters, were discovered outside a residence by their mother near Kearney, Missouri on Wednesday.”

There’s very little info on this. No signs of injury or drowning. The Clay County sheriff does not suspect foul play.

I wonder if it could somehow be heat related? We had temps in KY which almost hit 100 degrees yesterday, and the humidity was out of site!
