Legitimate news outlets do not pay for any information and/or interviews. Can't prove they never have, but it's unethical. Tabloids, however, are different.

"Legitimate" news outlets - MSM such as ABC, CBS, and CNN - pay for pictures and videos, all the time.

You see it in so many of these cases. There's the interview with a national outlet, new 'family' pictures are released, then you hear of bills being paid, etc., and later sometimes you get the solid admissions that indeed, $$$$ for pics/videos was paid.

In one of the 1 zillion articles and I think it was last night one of the local stations said a man described as the father of one of the parents answered the door and said they were not talking to any local stations because they had a deal with a national one. I think that is where it is all coming from.

I could have sworn Debbie said it when they were walking into the hotel. I'll look again. I don't know that she said the word "deal" though.

  • #383
Hrm i think I'll head on over the the KCA threads and promote her innocence based on she had true tears in court.

Do the parents have to give permission for this to happen? The reason I ask is because I don't think, and I could be wrong, but I dodn't remember Susan Powell's kids being interviewed by LE. The parents don't have to talk. They are under no obligation to speak to the police, so I wouldn't think the police could just talk with the kids without the parents agreeing to it, and if they're not talking, I would be they aren't allowing their kids to be interviewed.

But that is troubling, imo. If my daughter was missing then I would happily allow LE to interview my son, knowing he MAY have heard or seen something in the middle of the night. Why would I prevent LE from trying to get important info that might help them find my daughter ?

  • #386
It's not been said that I can find (and, believe me when I say, I feel like I've been run through a printing press lol).

Debbie said that they questioned her over and over a lot of different ways and if she answered differently in small ways it was noted. So, yeah, she claims that LE used ways to rattle her.

Is it any surprise that LE would try to rattle someone? A person telling the truth usually answers the same no matter how many ways the question was asked.

The poly would be used to ask her questions in order to detect deception.

Missouri Baby Parents' Feel Pressure From Police
- VIDEO: Police Search Landfill for Missing Baby
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/10/07/missing-missouri-infants-mother-says-police-accused-her/

In the video with this news article; it's said that the mother made a call to someone at 2:30am; but the police haven't said to whom the call was made.
So Lisa's mom was possibly awake before or at the time the dad came home from work.
This was news for me; but maybe it's been discussed already ?

Is this why the parents are claiming someone took all their phones? To try to cover up this call at 2:30? Do they have evidence she actually made the call, or just that the call came from her phone? Interesting.

Here's one source:
"Late Thursday evening, FOX 4 learned Lisa's parents, Jeremy Irwin and Deborah Bradley, made a 'deal' with national news networks and would no longer be talking with local media."

That's not true. A person who is frightened, confused, shocked, tired, etc, can give all kinds of contradictory or inaccurate answers under pressure. That's how false confessions happen.

Nope, didn't say it would be a surprise, just trying to answer someone's question.

It can't be used against you in court so I guess it doesn't matter. I've always looked at it as being a tool to "HELP" eliminate suspects. I'm not so sure if it always works that way. The reason being is that it is not totally reliable. MOO.

Oh I know. I guess my point is I've seen this so many times in other cases. It is almost as though the parents reach a roadblock with LE and then start talking about the investigation and polys and insisting they are cooperating and disputing police claims.

If they are innocent bringing what LE said about the polys can shed them in bad light in the eyes of the public and with the Investigators. The court of public opinion is already harsh enough at times. So why bring this additional condemnation upon yourself? Sometimes saying nothing really is better.

  • #393
Is there a good photo of Jeremy somewhere I would like to see if Lisa has any of his features. TIA.

  • #394
I did read that, but wondering where money came in...from deal? From exclusive? Assumptions?

What sort of "deal" would they have made if it didn't involve money? I can't think of anything else except giving their baby back.

  • #395
I may be wrong, but I believe it has to be completely dark to see the stuff luminol picks up? So they're not covering luminol but covering the light source. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong or using the incorrect terminology. Just guessing here - TIA!

That's true about it having to be completely dark for luminol testing. It could have been this. Luminol tests are also not admissible in court.

That is what I am wondering as well. Maybe one of the perps accidentally butt-dialed. [ as my kids call it.]

  • #397
LE may well know that some of what the parents have said is not true, for example, but cannot charge them with any crime relating to the child at this point and do not want to charge them with obstruction, i.e., in hopes of still getting access to them again. Just a guess/example of what could be happening.

I think that is where it is all coming from.

That showed it happening in a video, and prior to that, there was a different video where a female relative was running in and out of the house and told the reporter twice they weren't talking because of a deal they'd made with the national networks. I believe I posted about this one.

Other two sons asleep in different bedrooms. (sons are half brothers to Lisa-the 6 year old is Debbie’s and the 8 year old is Jeremy’s from previous relationships.)—Correction. One son—the 6 year old was asleep with the mom and a stray kitten he had found earlier in the day.

Father is electrician that works nights. This night was the first night he EVER worked at night.—Jeremy http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/video/miss...olice-14688735

Mother is a SAHM--Debbie

Monday October 3, 2011 10:00 p.m. Last seen in crib wearing purple shorts and purple shirt with white kittens on it.

**Possibly seen by Mr. Parscale (a man that lives in the area) according to his wife Lisa around 12:00 a.m. Tuesday wearing only a diaper being carried by a male. Quote from Lisa--“He seen the guy act like he was going to go into a residence,” Parscale said, “but then my husband drove off so we’re thinking that maybe he was just doing that so that my husband would leave.”

**Parscale says her husband saw the man walking on a street perpendicular to North Lister, where Lisa Irwin lives with her parents and brothers.

Tuesday October 4, 2011 3:30 a.m. (first report stated it was 4:00 a.m.) Father returns home from work and discovered baby missing from crib.

UPDATE at 2:00 p.m. October 4 presser Capt. Steve Young speaking—Parents’ story has no holes. Looking into neighbor that possibly saw Lisa being carried by the male. No suspects other than neighbor sighting.

Tuesday October 4, 2011 approx. 7:00 p.m. amber alert cancelled. Lisa is considered a MISSING/ENDANGERED JUVENILE. Per police the alert has served it’s purpose. Police and dogs will search for a while into the night.

*** Tuesday night authorities searched a van and car at the home. There is no word on what police found or were looking for. Officers searching for the child focused on areas near the family's home such as railroad tracks near the north side of the Missouri River and a wooded area behind the home. http://www.fox4kc.com/news/wdaf-aut...rch-for-missing-baby-20111005,0,6273053.story

Tuesday 9:25 p.m.

Mass exodus of police from the command center. Looks like K-9's are finished searching for the night. Police search will continue in AM
by cliffjudy via twitter 9:25 P

**family stayed with relatives after being questioned until 10:30 p.m.

Wednesday October 5, 2011

9:00 a.m. press conference Capt. Steve Young speaking—basically no new information. Still searching with dogs, however there have been no hits. Parents not ruled out, but also not suspects. Very cooperative.

NBC Action News reporter Sloane Heller reports Lisa’s grandparents are watching the couple’s other children and have not been able to reach them since earlier Tuesday.

Next news conference sometime this afternoon.

2:00 news conference—Jeremy spoke with Deborah (Bradley?) by his side. Begged for baby to be dropped off somewhere safe. The brothers are waiting to see their sister. Declined to take questions.

Again, Capt. Has no leads, not ruling out anything. 300 knocks and searches. 46 tips. No ransom note. Family is free to go where they would like. Family does not want to be at house.

**Alleged sighting of Lisa with a middle aged white male and female at a Love’s gas station in St. Joseph, MO I-29 and US HWY 169. Driving older model SUV. Article came out around 5:15 p.m. Surveillance video has been turned over to LE. Police say it doesn’t seem to be a major lead.

Thursday October 6, 2011

**Jeremy and Debbie provided LE with a list of 9 names of people that could be possible suspects.

**Per Debbie regarding cell phones and possible other missing items:

~one of the cell phones did not work.. all three were on the counter and she was in the midst of reprogramming them/putting numbers into them

Well, they clearly jumped ship to ABC, because Dan what's-his-name the Nightline reporter did the interview with the video today where he's inside their house, and KMBC, the ABC local affiliate, has brand new family pics on their site tonight.

Cha-ching.

Nightline covered it extensively last night, too.
