I wonder if he may have been identified as a Doe (UP7348) who was removed from NamUs on Friday.
UP7348 was found floating in the Mississippi River in St. Louis, MO, but there is a problem with the timing, as the Doe was found in June 2007, months before Marcoe was reported missing.
