According to REB Z's twitter Bassem is being held at least until 10:00 am tomorrow .
Under the constitution they can. Obviously, NYC can enact policies/procedures more restrictive on LE because they tend to protect 4th amendment rights, not violate them. But I'm curious how/why NYC would do this?
Well that's about as stupid as it can get. So a pedophile can get a job working in a school around children cause....no questions asked? just wow
The ACLU does not say to document and comply "so you don't die". They (ACLU) have been out talking to the protesters telling them what they need to do and how they need to behave in order to document things for their "cause". Unfortunately the protesters can't seem to keep themselves in line and actually document anything that is useable. How many people in Ferguson have been pulled over, arrested for whatever reason, dealt with LE that have NOT been shot or died? That answer should alert the protesters that their chants of police killing them is pointless. LE has shown great restraint during all of this. The protesters have not.

Warning Pastor says there are inconsistencies in police story of shooting of VM! Also story is from CNN.
Gunshot residue found on clothing, body of teen shot by St. Louis officer

As far as the whole "why did the Shaw cop chase after VM" thing, with his history, I would imagine just the way he was behaving and acting gave the officer more than enough to gather suspicion than just the color of his skin.
And you know what? I realize there is racism in the world and I realize that racial profiling does happen. But I will tell you this: Who do you think a cop would be more likely to find suspicious and perhaps follow...Vanilla Ice or Carlton from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air??? Who would the average cop prefer to beat down - Justin Bieber or Denzel Washington? It is about far more than skin color. It is about the way they dress, the way they carry themselves, the way they speak that makes someone look suspicious. I am sorry that so many in the black community choose to act this way and call it their culture. Well their CULTURE is what is getting them killed and is getting them profiled - much more than the color of their skin. Act, talk, dress like a, you will be treated like a
, even if you are a medical student. Act, talk, dress like a normal person in society and you will be treated as such, even if you are a violent criminal. Perception is the key and police - and all human beings for that matter - respond to a lot of visual and verbal cues when making an initial assessment of another human being. They say that first impressions count, well, yes, they do. Your initial assessment of someone might be totally incorrect or off base once additional information is known, but when you are talking about life and death situations like these, where the totality of the event last less than 3 minutes, there isn't a whole lot else to go off of.
Think about how many times per day you make an initial visual summary of a person. You see a man iin a 3 piece suit and tie, you would likely think "businessman" even though he may just be headed to a funeral, or a wedding, or to a court appearance. You see someone wearing gold chains, baseball cap turned sideways and their pants hanging down, you are going to think "street" even if the person is a straight A student that volunteers with the elderly 3 days a week.
It's interesting that Chief Dotson is releasing so much info re VM, while Chief Belmar kept the tox/ballistics/injury reports of MB/DW sealed tight.

IDK for sure. Like you, I wonder what LEO saw.
IOW, even if Vonderrit's monitor & gun were 'concealed' & not noticeable to us civ's, maybe alert an LEO could detect one or both.
Is it poss LEO saw --
--gun 'print' (bulge, shadow) underneath Vonderrit's shirt, at waistband or pocket, however it was carried?
--ankle 'print' (bulge, shadow) underneath Vonderrit's pants, down toward hem?
Assuming this LEO saw either monitor or gun or both, is that sufficient cause to stop?
Is it necessary for LEO to know exact terms of monitor use to have reason of violation of terms?
Does seeing 'print' of gun (or gunlike shape) under clothing give LEO cause to ask to see CCW permit?
Just wondering. Anyone?
ETA: I see some of this was discussed after reedus23" post, but looks like no definitive answers.
Ya know, I'm in the StL area and am really embarrassed to say I live here. All these activists, communists, thugs, gangs all antagonizing, bullying and holding a city hostage for their own agendas. I wish the peaceful protesters would separate themselves from these people. Hey, I'm all for a movement and protesting if it's for a cause they truly believe in. But the lies and propaganda is draw dropping. Many of these protesters know or rather seen/heard the facts and refuse to believe a word of it. However, they will believe street rumors. No video, autopsy, paperwork, gun residue or hard cold fact will change their minds and that's so very sad.
Let's pick Bella for a perfect example of truth vs rumor since she's such a great journalist (ugh). Watching her on livestream getting pulled over by LE with her perfect Eddie Haskel sweetness and then to the viewers, after the fact, making up all those wild accusations of what LE did and said to her was incredible. LE was nothing but polite to her - lots of us saw it and heard it. Truly a person with an agenda. Making up nonsense and accusations just floors me. Stick to the movement without all the lying.
As far as THEIR civil rights? What about the businesses and citizens civil rights THEY (protesters) are taking away without a thought. This whole fiasco in StL is nothing but hypocrisy at it's finest. And, anyone with a list of DEMANDS OR ELSE is nothing short of a terrorist. Or else what? The city gets torched? People will pay? Businesses will be ruined? Where is this 'peaceful' in peaceful protesting? I still think it boils down to wanting no laws, no rules. Our city. I guess we should give it to them and move so they can have their own city? I would laugh if it wasn't so tragic that black lives matter, LE should stop killing their kids! OMG! Stop killing your own!
Well, he left his baby boy fatherless.
YES!! Zero parenting.
Nope, that's the same guy:
"Though Roorda is, by all accounts, a friend to the police, his own history as a cop isn't all that flattering. He spent spent eleven years as a police officer in Arnold before the department terminated him 2001. According to court filings from a later appeal, Roorda was accused in 1997 of trying to cover for another officer by filing a report containing false statements about a suspect's apprehension and arrest. That incident earned him a reprimand. Four years later the department fired him after a dispute with his police chief over paternity leave grew heated. Roorda claimed that the chief verbally intimated him, but an audio recording proved that this claim, too, was a "false report.""

A bit extreme. I don't think anyone ever said that.
Sounds to me like it's just giving people an excuse not to be honest..."hey, you don't need to put that pesky conviction down....we'll check you out..." ....cause we all know how well follow up and checking works....Of course not. The applications are still going to be checked and anyone with a record that is of a serious nature will not be hired. It's all about placating them on the surface right now. But behind the scenes, those that are murderers, child abusers, etc will be tossed aside and not even considered for hiring.
