Either we have some very careless reporting or the interviews have uncovered new facts. This article is new, from March 11th and methodically outlines what went wrong. I would think that the mother of this child would be raising holy heck if incorrect information was repeated about the man being her new boyfriend. And the probable cause clearly states that a couple slept in the living room, not Lande. What am I missing? Maybe there was a good deal of bedswapping going on. That's all I can figure. So Lande was released but ordered not to drink. How often was he having UAs? I guess that's why he grabbed that beer on the way out of the house.

Alleged rapist slipped through cracks in law
"In June 2010, police from several agencies swept down on dozens of registered sex offenders throughout much of Jackson County in an effort to update and confirm the county’s sex offender data base.
One address was

W. Farmer St. in Independence, the home of Randy Lande, a former Belton, Mo., man. He was charged last month with six counts of forcible sodomy and one count of kidnapping of an 8-year-old girl...."
and
"...Lande, whose registered address was the one on Farmer Street, had reportedly been staying with friends in a home on the 600 block of North Pleasant Street, where the 8-year-old had gone for a birthday party with two young girls who lived there. Lande had slept on a living room couch the night after the birthday party. The children had slept in a bedroom.
The next morning the man in the home could not find the victim. Eventually he and his wife found her upstairs. Police were called, and she told them that Lande had given her some whiskey and sexually abused her “all night.” The girl identified Lande as “Mom’s new boyfriend.....”

I understand that an offender might not be home. But with the number of reports about this guy in the neighborhood, couldn't they have come back later? I can't even post anymore of it. It just flattens me.
