Isn't it amazing how you can read something twenty times and still find something new? Kathy Webb was murdered January 15, 1988, exactly three months before Randy Leach went missing 40 miles away. Randy roughly matches the description of the man who the Mohler girls state that they were forced to attack and possibly murder. Randy has never been found and an excellent website exists concerning his disappearance:
www.randyleach.com
The reason I keep bringing up Kathy Webb's and her sister Anita's murders is that Kathy was killed in Sugar Creek. That is not far from where the girls say they went with their father, Burrell Jr., to lure the large man back to their farm. There are some who hold a theory that Randy Leach's disappearance, Kathy Webb's murder, and possibly another man's murder in Odessa, MO (just a couple of miles from the farmhouse) in summer 1989 might be linked. The words torture and stabbing come up repeatedly.
If you read any of the theories on Randy Leach's site, you will find much conjecture about the caves and reports of several people who saw a man being tortured. You learn that the Sugar Creek area is where the Cement City Road and there are caves located there. Just a lot of criss cross double cross.
I have no idea if any of it is related to the Mohler crimes but the Sheriff's statement resonated with me. He said that there would be more charges in other jurisdictions and states.
I'm trying to learn all I can from the woman who is writing a book about Randy Leach. She has reams of information about the area at the time of the Mohler children's abuse. I feel very strongly that something could be connected.
Anyway, back to the article:
"Both sisters were murdered on Jan. 15, but 12 years apart.
"Her sister was found in Kansas City, Kan., Jan. 15, 2000," Sgt. Rick DeFelice said. "Exactly to the day 12 years. Both murdered in similar fashion."
"I think Anita tried to find out who murdered her sister and that might be what got her murdered," Roberts said.
Police say there is no evidence linking the case, but they have reopened Kathy Webb's cold case and are using new DNA technology to try to track the killer.
"We're not going to forget this case and we are going to put somebody in jail over it," Topi said.
For Kathy's daughter, she wants to see the killer in jail.
"Whoever did it, I hope they suffer," SW said. "I hope they spend the rest of their life in jail."
Police say the Webb sisters' murders remain unsolved. They urge anyone with information to call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS.
So, Kathy was 5 months pregnant and they have DNA. That tells me that it may now be possible to finally determine who killed this woman and whose child she was carrying. And note that Kathy had an eight year old daughter at the time of her murder--right around the age of the Mohler girls.
Was Sr. or Jr. or Darrel or one of the others going after Kathy and her girl? Was Kathy's one of the murders the girls described down by a river? The girls describe multiple stab wounds on the large man and Kathy was stabbed 96 times. The LEO says that Anita died much the same way.
