Tricia and I have both said we'd be happy just turning our camera on and just being available in case anybody wants to show up whenever they wanted to. We wouldn't expect any of you to be there the whole day.
That's why we're calling it "Open Office Hours." The metaphor is we're working in an office and you can walk in, sit down, and have a discussion whenever you want. It's just as easy for us to keep our cameras on as it is to keep my office-door open.

Absolutely. We will be available for a long time. I must warn you. You may see some frightening things on my end. Two dogs that do dog things right in front of my camera all the time. Cats, well my cats will sit there like lumps of fur. So that's not too exciting.
Truly, I am so excited to do this. I can't wait!

Stupid question... Will the link come with the ability to join from a web browser, and not have to download Zoom? I'm not sure if all Zoom links come with that option, or if the organizer has to include it as an option. It's how I've been using it for years.

Lettin' ya know I don't want to DL anything in the event you need to include the ability for folks to be able to join in that alternative way.

Yes, you should be able to join just using the web client.

I'm really looking forward to this. We will have the Zoom open for 8 hours on Saturday July 12th. I will be there for the full 8 hours so you can pop in any time for a chat. I'm sure the mods will jump on as well. However, if you come on the Zoom and I looks like I dropped dead do not worry.and please do not call 911. I will have dropped but not dead, just a 5 minute cat nap. It happens when you get up in years. Some day you youngsters will understand. LOL

I agree: eight hours is a lot to put on yourselves. But I appreciate your willingness to be accessible.

I am excited to have the opportunity to finally put faces with "voices" here at WS. Even when I was staff I never saw any of the fellow mods or got to see if they looked like IRL as I had imagined them. Except for one who is also now retired that I became friends with outside of the site .

@Tricia you don't scare me, having been on phone calls with you before I know the zoo that happens on the daily at your place. I've got three very large dogs so our dogs can get acquainted via zoom

Well, I can see this not working. With all the "Ummm" and "you know" you're gonna end up drunk from all the sipping you'll be doing. And that'll just make your "Ummm's" and "you know's" worse. Now a long range shock collar... now that'd work. lol
