Mother: Son Suspended Because She Wouldn't Spank Him

Out of curiousity, did anything ever happen to bullies. My school has the attitude and I quote " you have to expect a certain amount of bullying at this age". What ever happened to the zero tolerance bullying policy. I had a similar experience to you. When my boy fought back he was given ISS. So basically you can torment someone all you want, but don't fight back. I'm disgusted.

Just out of sheer frustration my kids know that they have to suck it up and take the school's consequences for *fighting* ... but at home if they can show that they were defending themselves from bullying, they have a free pass.

The early years were the hardest. Now that he is older, its not quite as bad, although he still doesnt get the support he needs from the teachers. I was helping him with a psychology project the other night, in which we both had to listen to one anothers favorite songs, then discuss why we like them etc. This is my sons favorite song...

New blood joins this earth
And quickly he’s subdued
Through constant pain disgrace
The young boy learns their rules

With time the child draws in
This whipping boy done wrong
Deprived of all his thoughts
The young man struggles on and on he’s known
A vow unto his own
That never from this day
His will they’ll take away

What I’ve felt
What I’ve known
Never shined through in what I’ve shown
Never be
Never see
Won’t see what might have been

What I’ve felt
What I’ve known
Never shined through in what I’ve shown
Never free
Never me
So I dub thee unforgiven

They dedicate their lives
To running all of his
He tries to please them all
This bitter man he is
Throughout his life the same
He’s battled constantly
This fight he cannot win
A tired man they see no longer cares
The old man then prepares
To die regretfully
That old man here is me

What I’ve felt
What I’ve known
Never shined through in what I’ve shown
Never be
Never see
Won’t see what might have been

What I’ve felt
What I’ve known
Never shined through in what I’ve shown
Never free
Never me
So I dub thee unforgiven

You labeled me
I’ll label you
So I dub thee unforgiven

Says it all IMO

He'll be 17 next month..and if I do say so myself...he is becoming quite a man. Others may not see the potential he has...but he makes me so very proud.

They grow up far to fast! Michael will be taking his physical for the Marines soon, then after graduation, if all goes well, he will ship off to basic.

Both your children are beautiful. Your son's favorite song brought tears to my eyes. What a wonderful sensitive kid. I wish you all the best.

This boy's disruptive behavior must be dealt with. At the very least, he is not being fair to the majority of students who are there to learn. I would not have demanded the mother spank the child. I would have issued a warning that the next time the boy was a discipline problem, he would be suspended or made to stay after school.

Perhaps, the boy should be placed in a school for gifted children, where he would be challenged.

Anyway, forgive me if I have the whole story wrong! I haven't fully investigated this case!! :)

what a DARLING family timex - nice work and an awesome photo of your son golfmom

some of my favorite quotes because I relate to them so easily, I think you'll find them apropos:
If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or faraway.
Henry David Thoreau
(1817 - 1862)

People take different roads seeking fulfillment and happiness. Just because they're not on your road doesn't mean they've gotten lost.
Jackson Browne, P. S. I Love You

The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently.
Friedrich Nietzsche, The Dawn, Sec. 297
German philosopher (1844 - 1900)

Thanks for those quotes. I had heard the one from Thoreau and I can identify with it. The others were new to me. My son has also had a lot of problems with bullies in school. And the school has responded much the same way the others have. It is like, the kids should just take it and keep their mouth shut. If they don't, if they fight or answer back- they are in the wrong. But they are expected to handle it theirselves, because the teachers don't have time for that.
