My guess is that the majority stick around, especially if it's someone who knew the victim and would be missed. Also, just think about the statistics of killers who return to the scene of the crime or insert themselves into the investigation.

Having said that, I do find the comments made by LF, who says she went fishing the night JC died, to be interesting. She either doesn't have a filter or she was nervous and just couldn't stop talking. And I personally think it's strange that she went to the scene and gave an interview. She acted like she knew JC well but also said that she was really friends with JC's older sister. Then she talks about JC's visits to the Sonic and that she called her "my Sonic baby". Then she makes fun of JC always messing with her eyelashes. I don't know. It is probably nothing but I think she gave way too much detail about how she found out JC had been killed. Then she goes with her sister and their kids to the scene and gives an interview including the information that she had driven past that area the night before. It just makes me wonder what her intentions were.

she probably just wants to feel important - like an insider, close the the victim. I doubt her involvement, but do think she likes the attention.

she said she drove right by and didn't see anything, as if she knows she went by while JC's car was there. not sure if she knows exactly what time JC was there or for how long, and exactly what time she drove by to know for sure she went by while JC was there. I don't think she would have been surprised that she didn't see anything if she knew she hadn't gone by right when JC was there. prob just trying to insinuate herself into the case not realizing it makes her look suspect.

I doubt police even know how long Jessica's car was there prior to her being found in the road.

This is the only post (it is from thread #4) where I see a time mentioned in reference to the time of Jessica's friend going fishing:

I also think with getting ready for the holidays and other familial obligations that we all have (e.g., birthday parties), one probably would go fishing around 4:20 p.m. to Enid Lake. All lakes in bayou interesting.

do we know what time Lindsay (sp?) said she drove by on Sat? 4:20 does not actually have any relevance to anything anyone said, right, other than the WS poster, making a joke?

is 4:20 the actual time or a euphemism?

That's what I'd like to know. I guess we are supposed to think it is a euphemism. The post was a bit cryptic. It might have been helpful if the poster added a "j/k". For example.

The video that accompanies the story shows the children in hats/hoodies and they look chilled but perhaps it is the wind. To me, going fishing at night would be a little dangerous in that area because it is so rural and secluded. The thought that Jessica was ambushed on a paved road still sickens me.

Very dangerous, children at night fishing, seems very risky, and scary for kids being that it is so rural and secluded. Just something I would never do anyway, and especially with my kids. I have read and thought about every scenario, but I keep going back to jealousy, and that is where I'm staying until we hear more.

Just the stress of the holidays might lead one to want some time alone to smoke a joint is what I took that to mean. Not that I relieve my own stress that way, but I'm not 19 either.

That's where I've landed. Reminds me so much of the Kimberly Faust case, I can't shake it.

My husband fishes at night, even if it's cold. Anytime we are home (we work out of town most of the time) him and my BIL go at least twice. The weather would have to be quite nasty to prevent it. Their fishing club has been known to hold tournaments in the freezing rain. They have clothes to counter the weather. I often opt to watch tv, read , clean, anything to skip fishing boot camp, even on nice days because I know it could turn into an all day/ all night affair. Sometimes I do go and then their day will get cut short after 12 or so hours. I just do not love the sport the way they do. I do enjoy the fish though. Money has nothing to do with it. Fresh fish taste better than any that could be found in a store.
In fact, if I consider the money that goes into his fishing, we are paying entirely too much for fish. But I won't do that because I love my husband, if it makes him happy *shrugs* idc.

I don't find it odd at all that LF was fishing at night (if she was)or in December. I've seen the pictures of the fish they caught. Although, it seems like it was from a few days before JC died so that might have been a different trip. On that trip, she took her kids fishing with her.

Not to mention, an astute poster noted that there was a full moon that night. Elsewhere in the thread it has been mentioned that during a full moon is the best time to night fish for crappie. It would only be odd if there weren't fishermen/women out and about that night.

This is only my opinion, but what I see as the most likely scenario is that JC was in a relationship with another woman's husband or significant other, and this is the motive for the killing. He family says she was not dating anyone, but who would tell their parents they were in a relationship with someone else husband? I would think not many. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. I believe JC was involved in a relationship of some kind, and if her mother nor anyone else knew about it, it was most likely a secret one. If some of you super sleuths can find out who she was romantically involved with, I believe this will lead straight to the killer/s. Again, this is JMO.

Could be there are a lot more cell phones to triangulate than those belonging to the 100 or so mentioned in the C-L article. The town is very small and rural and it sounds as though they have cast a very large net.

It doesn't necessarily have to be a husband, it could be a guy who was extracting himself from another relationship and it is why there is no "chatter" about it among the close-knit community. It's because it was a secret. Jessica told her mom she was going to clean her car and there is a car wash on Main Street that she would have had to pass to make it as far as Herron Rd. Perhaps she met up with someone at the car wash and they lured her further down Main. Her car and body were found at the point Main Street becomes Herron Rd. as though she was going to turn around.

do you think they are saying there is no street talk in order to protect those who are talking and to prevent any further crimes, if this was some sort of retaliation for "snitching"?

the affair/jealousy theory would explain the comments like "she got what was coming" and "it went too far" and the seats being reclined. it doesn't explain the "snitch" comments.

But, if JC were in a car with someone else's man and his lady came along, she gets mad and starts beating on JC, what is the guy doing? If he was having an affair wouldn't he care enough about JC to stop the action and get the women separated? If he was in the car he would have been burned too. If he was standing outside the car would he let his lady set JC and her car on fire?
