Do you ever find when you write something --- and you post it --- that it helps you decide whether you really believe it or not? There's something about making that commitment to putting it on the message board and seeing it there large as life, that makes you commit to an opinion. Or maybe say nah, that's not right. Well, that's the way it works for me.

Driving down Herron Road just showed me something. It gave me a piece of the puzzle that was missing. I drove all the way from town; it's a nice little drive. So sad that it ended so horribly for Jess. I'm hoping her killer will confess soon, if he has a heart. His scheme didn't work and as time goes by he will be more and more exposed.

Hope that's not too hazy to satisfy. My best to you all.

If he/they had hearts, this would not have happened, and Jessica would still be alive and well. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on any confessions. JMO

About her cell phone... If there are two crime scenes, perhaps she'd left it in her car at the first location so they didn't really worry about it. It is when they went to the second scene that they took it away from her.

To me, the fact that the battery was taken off the phone means that they didn't want her to be able to use it. Otherwise, if it had just been thrown in order to discard it, they would've taken it with them and dropped it somewhere far away. And it tells me something else : there weren't any text messages or phone calls made directly by the perps in JC's phone. They knew they'd be safe even if the phone was found by the police. However, the person who made the call or wrote the text to lure Jessica was probably one of the first persons to be interviewed by LE.

With so little information from LE it's easy to be discouraged that this will go unsolved. It may be the opposite. I served on a grand jury a few years ago and was amazed at how much info local LE presented and by the number of witnesses we questioned over several months about crimes-many homicides-so under-reported most people had forgotten them. Sometimes the DA puts off presenting cases-usually homicides-because it's hard to find criminal defense attorneys with experience in capital murder cases who can or will take on a high profile case on a pro bono basis.

Very encouraging thoughts on which to end/begin the day. Thanks!

The crime starting off in Batesville makes as much sense as anything but why not finish it somewhere more remote than Herron Road? Herron Road may be pretty vacant but isn't it in or very near Courtland?

How do we know the crime started in Batesville? Is that where the gas station is? When I googled M&M, it came up on the corner of Carlisle where her address (parents) live and hwy 51. Is there MSM that tells us it started in Batesville and the gas station address in Batesville? I couldn't find one.

It's a theory some sleuthers have that Jess drove north to Batesville to clean out her car. It's at that point or shortly thereafter they believe the crime began.

Oh ok. Thanks, unless there is survellience cameras anywhere that show her headed to or in Batesville, I don't think so. I think she tossed a few things into the trash out of her car (cleaned out her car) on the survellience video at the gas station or maybe...she pulled away from the pumps out of sight but over next to whomever she talked to off camera at the gas station to finish throwing things in the dumpster outside the station

...and everything happened and escalated from there. Perhaps the owner of the gas station and others saw or heard her or her car being taken straight from the gas station but fear retaliation if they say what or who? Was the call to mom forced by her attackers? To explain why she didn't or wasn't coming back right away since she appeared to be dressed for a quick run to the corner gas station and if I'm sending you for cigarettes, I'm out..and need one soon, not a few hrs later. Batesville doesn't fit to me...

Also after some scanning on SM I came across publicly posted photos of a young man wearing the exact same wintery hat as the young man in the survellience video....name sounds like ..ick..

That's quite a few people whose silence would have to be ensured. Plus the prospect of anyone that could potentially be driving by or coming to the station.

Looks like in the video, the only people present when she pulled away from the pump were maybe those still off camera, the few guys inside who were walking out as she pulled away (and maybe by the off camera car and dumpster), and owner/cashier. What if she calmly gets in car off camera to smoke..and nobody sees anything except that but still enough to say who was with her last..or if they were the ones to take her and/or her car on Herron Rd..keeps it simple and plausible.

Back to using my online resources to identify and find out if any of those in or off the video live in or have lived in the area she was found or direction she was taken.

A lot of posters seem to think that she was dressed for just a quick run out. I live in Maryland and it seems to be the norm for girls of that age to run around dressed just as she was dressed that night, fleece pJ pants and hoodies or t shirts, etc. I've seen them in malls as well as the local 7-11's or similar stores, even just walking through town. Its not something I would do but I'm also not that age.

But they still couldn't take into account anyone that may be driving by or coming into the station that could know her and see who she was with.

Even if they said..we saw her talking to....police already know she did by the persons in the video and who has admitted talking to her. I'm speculating what was seen on video was the only provable contact and there's no evidence of a crime but that's not necessarily where contact ended (end of video) because it's out of camera sight and a huge parking lot off the hwy.

Perhaps he or he and company asked for a ride home from the gas station? Mom is called because she says " mom will be calling police if I don't get right home, I have her cigarettes she knows I'm coming right back.." They make her call and lie "explain her delay"...by threatening her and home alone mom. They end up killing her and walking home.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean...wouldn't a public defender be assigned, if the accused couldn't afford otherwise?

There is a Batesville registered sex offender who falsely used a "Batesville Herron Road street number" as his registered one in a filing. Batesville does not have a "Herron Road".

However, the street name and number which he used is 1.2 miles farther south from the crime scene and on the same, western side of the road. The registered owner of the Courtland property, at one time or another, shared the same surname as the registered sex offender, leading me to believe that perhaps the offender was a family member.

If the offender had stumbled upon Jessica in Batesville, and if he had wanted to provide himself with an alibi, it is conceivable that he could have dumped Jessica at 2352 Herron Road; and a minute later by car, (or 25 minutes by foot) been safely inside that residence.

Of course, this is a highly speculative opinion based solely upon a "false Batesville Herron Road address" but if I were in LE I would be looking at even the most improbable.

GREAT FIND! I did a little digging and publicly available information indicates that he was convicted of sexual offences TWICE in Wisconsin. The first being April of 2005 and the second being in September of 2007! So why move to Mississippi and give a false address which would surly put him in jeopardy for a third offense? The man obviously has a clear record of repeated sexual offenses. Additionally, he uses two different LAST names as aliases. (Women, I understand. Men, really stands out as odd imo)! Think these combined known's would indicate that he is a pretty serious RSO. I've had difficulty subscribing to the many theories being floated out there, but this one has my attention!
