There's also an issue of the safety of the witnesses, or people thought to be witnesses. Somebody was cold blooded enough set fire to another human being. A careless word from LE could send him/her after somebody innocent just because he/she thinks that person might be ratting on them.

Wow, I couldn't believe it. I was looking for the on-line version of the PEOPLE magazine article on Jessica Chambers, published in their January 4, 2016 edition. What I found was not one, but SIX different articles.

Apparently, the PEOPLE news editor thinks there may be a story here. She put FOUR of her writers on it (in alphabetical order): Tara Fowler, Greg Hanlon, Steve Helling, and Sandra Sobieraj Westfall. Either that, or their circulation department is telling them the Jessica Chambers issue is selling like hotcakes.

Regardless, for whatever the reason, here are links to those six PEOPLE magazine on-line articles, spanning from 12/21/15 to 12/23/15:

Now then, I've got some reading to do...

I bought the People magazine today. In the article, it says that "police say they now know who Jessica was with from 6:30 to 7:32pm when she arrived on Herron Rd. Says Champion: "that hour holds the key to solving our case. I'm cautiously optimistic."
I missed it---WHO WAS SHE WITH?

They're not saying but certain individuals (one of which was questioned by LE) have named the people she was with on SM right after it happened.

I finally bit the bullet and looked at the Jessica Chambers Mystery 2 site on FB. My head is spinning from all the names, etc. Interesting read, but all opinions and hearsay. Definitely worth the trip down the rabbit whole though!!

I think the "last word" thing was a myth, and I wonder about that first responder.

I have followed your posts on both the Holly Bobo thread and throughout this one.You are spot on with your post. POW

wfgodot, your suspicion is valid because it's difficult to impeach Cole's account or investigate his alibi.

Sheriff Darby was the first person Cole called;they share what the truth is.* Sheriff Darby was the ranking officer & was responsible for the handling of Jessica's crime scene. I do not have to elaborate on the shoddy way the crime scene was initially processed!

My opinion only.

:cow:

* footnote Link to actual sequence of events:

(Cole Haley speaking)I called the sheriff’s department immediately, I notified P1 (Panola County Sheriff Dennis Darby), called Med Stat (ambulance) and immediately put Air Evac en route,” the firefighter said.

“I called Pope FD because I knew they were close by,” the Courtland firefighter added.

The best link for background will not link.Perhaps you can try a search for,"Investigators Seek Answers In Death of Burned Woman" by Emily Darby Williams and John Howell Sr Publication:'The Panolian' or if someone can post a link that works?

Who was the person (passerby or perhaps even one of the perps) on Herron Rd who called in the fire? The answer would go a long way to helping solve the murder.(in my opinion)This is a circular question. Any answer you discover is ambiguous. Mississippi does not release emergency calls or communications.

This information is mostly from various thread's i.e. #10 thread has a lot of interesting posts:

Justin Turner, a member of the Courtland fire department reported the first call was an hour or so before the call for Jessica came in and that some of the firefighters were at the station in Courtland after having returned from the first call. ‪When the Herron Rd call first toned over the radio it sounded as if it was only a car fire in a remote location (sounded like when people burn cars for insurance). He had been to the previous call and had just gone to get dinner. Whoever called the fire in didn't mention a victim. When Justin Turner heard the tone 'the call went out as a car fire' whoever reported it did NOT mention seeing a person on fire. The first responders in no way expected or were aware of what they were about to encounter.‬

It is unclear where Cole Haley took the tone for Herron Rd fire. He is the first responder most quoted by major media. It was Fire Chief Cole Haley who initially called Sheriff Darby, ambulances,AirEvac and backup firefighters.

It was always my understanding that FCCH was leaving the first fire when the tone dropped for the car fire. We aren't sure where the first fire was located. I have a feeling it was near Daniel "Boone" Burns home on Carlisle, down the road, north toward Eureka on the west side of Carlisle. I know Angel Burns denies this and claims it occurred at the church on Main Street.

If Cole was driving down Carlisle to head to his FC office or to his home, he was the last to leave the first fire. Justin was already at dinner with his family since he decided not to attend the car fire.

PCSD had a hold on Roscoe and Charlotte the day after Jessica's immolation. Rumors in the beginning were that she "left the party with Roscoe". IIRC, he is the one who proposed earlier and Jessica turned him down.

Whatever the case may be on the killers, it was clearly premeditation to have Jessica at that spot and have the gas to light her on fire. That is so difficult to consider. I don't want to drown nor die in a fire, please Lord. I cannot imagine the excruciating pain of intensely deep burning and the emotional hurt from betrayal Jessica felt. Alone in the dark with no one to help her. Thankfully, my mind protects me from the deep imaginings of how horrific it had to be for her to be alone in an inferno.

I, too, purchased the People magazine today. My sweet family is still here for the holidays so I won't have a chance to read it until Monday.

Thanks, bbbd4u. Sounds like a good tool for LE undercover work, too.

FYI, your "Search and Rescue" affiliations may allow you to register as an expert for these forums, which would then be added as a title under your handle. Check with Bessie, or there may be some instructions somewhere in the FAQs.

Thank you I will do that!

I meant to tell you I found the information, bbbd4u. Good luck!

Early on in the case, a cousin of Jessica's claimed on the Justice for Jessica FB page that Jessica made the call herself.
Lisa denied knowing this female person and disputed that she was Jessica's cousin. However, interestingly enough, it was proven that the young lady was on Lisa's friend's list at FB. The cousin lives in Arkansas. I apologize for not recalling her name, att. IIRC, she was related through BC's wife, Debbie.

Some of those involved early in the case may recall the cousin's name. Like all of the other stories we've heard, there could be some truth to this. Who knows?

Notice there was no mentioning of Jessica walking down the street. The article stated she was more dead than alive. Oh, but she was chatting with the FCCH even though she was burned beyond recognition and died within 4 hours after the intense flash fire.

You've about got me convinced, DeDee. This is from the published (not the on-line) version of the PEOPLE magazine article:

"The doctor told us they couldn't even put a [breathing tube] in because all this was gone," says Debbie, putting her hand to her own throat. "He said she breathed fire."

Not sure who Debbie is. She's not mentioned any where else in the article.

=============Update==================

Must've been this lady, mentioned in one of the on-line articles:

But Jessica's organs were already shutting down. "Her heart was the last to go," says Debbie Chambers, Jessica's stepmom. The teen died at 2:37 a.m.

Hi. Can I thread-crash? Reading through the posts, I see that some people think this was an accident. I am curious as to how someone could come to that conclusion, as in, I am actually really interested. Thanks.

Right off hand I don't remember anyone saying that, for myself I think she was killed. As for what anyone else thinks, they can chime in.. Thanks for thread crashing, we need all the help we can get.

That might have been the smoking crack (or cooking meth) scenario; or perhaps the carelessly discarded cig; or a flaw in vehicle manufacture that LE -- not a strong suit here, imho -- missed.

There was a somewhat similar death in the New England area a couple of years back that was from somebody trying to learn how to breathe fire by swallowing lighter fluid. There were witnesses, so there was no question.

(p.s. In no way do I believe that's what happened...)

Also, does anyone know whether there could be an alternate cause of the gash on her head other than an intentional assault?

A member questioned on the last thread post #1008 if the CS was Jessica's actual crime scene shown in the news video. I assumed it would be for why would a news reporter use footage from another car fire? For hours, I studied each frame of the alleged Courtland CS in that news footage.

I cannot remember now, since the link was posted in early December 2015 by rbarber; however, I did find out the car fire seen in the video is not from Jessica's CS. It was footage used from many months prior to her death. Annoying, isn't it? I feel deceived by the wmca news station but I've already forgiven them for that.

Peppermintswirlz, to answer your question about an alternate theory on Jessica's head gash, the answer is yes. gingersnap posted that the intense heat from the fire could have caused Jessica's skull to fracture. gingersnap, of course, provided a lengthy explanation as well as provided a link for her information. She is also a highly trained specialized Registered Nurse.
