Why did most first responders believe that JC said "Eric"? All said that she was trying to respond to questions so, where medical people at the hospital did not witness her attempting to speak and didn't think that she could , earliest responders swore to it. If anything she said was, though muddled, understandable, then what responders heard should be taken very seriously. I think QT is guilty, but I won't be surprised if we have a hung jury because of several unanswerable questions. JMO

What JC said was taken very seriously. That's why investigators spent weeks and weeks combing through 20,000 phone records, Facebook records, everything they could think of to find all the "Eric"s and "Derrick"s in the area. They testified they went beyond the county to look. On Facebook they went not only to "friends" on each person's FB profile, they went to "friends of friends" looking.

They were so focused on finding an Eric or a Derrick, they didn't concentrate on QT beyond the initial cursory interview. That was all detailed in testimony.

LE came up with nothing to tie anyone named Eric or Derrick to this crime, and it was not due to a lack of looking in depth.

There were no calls to anyone in the timeframe before JC was driven to Heron Rd. Not by QT and not by JC.

The only call made was QT to his girlfriend in Louisiana to try and get her to come to visit him in MS and that was *after* QT sent an alibi text to JC's phone to tell her he "couldn't hang out with her that night because his girl was coming up from Louisiana." JC was already incapacitated at this time, could not use her phone, as there was no response back to QT's call or message.

When did she say "they?"

My apologies to sunset beach. I corrected my post 12 in post 32 this thread.

Reference My Post #32
Correction, earlier in the thread (Post# 12)I did a synopsis on the CNN Special. After I realized misquoted Cole Hanley I went back to my original notes and confirmed I had scribbled 'someone' not 'they'. Perhaps you will understand my inaccuracy when I say immediately after the CNN program I took my husband to the ER. It turned out to be another of many challenges we face since he was diagnosed with a brain tumor.I think it is sleep deprivation that muddled my thinking.

We have to remember BARD is not beyond all doubt. The state convinced me with the 4 minute time lapse between QT leaving then returning to the crime scene.

  • #785
Exactly Madelaine. Pure logic with the facts tells me he and he alone did this.

When did she say "they?"
I'll have to go back and listen but it was the first day and I believe it was CH that said it. Will let you know as soon as I find it.

Correction Cole Hanley said Jessica's words were,"someone" not "they"

I am sorry this led to confusion.I corrected it in post #783. You must have missed it.

Perfectly fine, but do consider what a person who has burns on 98% of their body with soot coming out of their nose and mouth might sound like. Perhaps in that condition, she might not sound normal. She died from that condition, soooooooo............ I don't think any of really know of that condition. She was smoking pot, then she was suddenly doused in gasoline and burned on 98% of her body. Soot coming out of her nose and mouth. This is a condition we truly don't know of . Very rare.

RBBM. How do you know what your alleging happened ? I have not heard that in any testimony. DA doesn't even have that as a theory.

Agree. And something else medical prof didn't see was her walking out of the woods or down the halls . No disrespect to anyone, but I have a hard time not taking first responders statements and testimony into account. They had those reports written within hours. Not only the reports from back then, but their testimony almost 4 yrs later. JMHO.

It just seems like they could have taken the extra step to see how many Erics QT was involved with. I know that they know of at least one. JMO

They did.

They investigated and talked to every Eric and Derrick they could find in the entire area, including all Erics or Derricks known by QT. Not one Eric or Derrick was tied to this crime.

Remember, QT made *no* phone calls to anyone before JC was incapacitated and in her car up that little hill. QT made no phone calls to anyone at all in the 30 minutes or so before JC's little car was seen leaving QT's driveway after 7:30pm. The *only* person QT called was his Louisiana girlfriend, trying to get her to come to MS.

They did, but for some reason they did not go into much depth about their investigation into at least one Eric closely associated with QT. I'm sure this person was investigated, but they chose not to share information about it during the trial.

They did.

I'm not privy to all that investigators did, but they could have cleared up that issue had they been more forthcoming with information that they had. Could Jessica have believed that she was under threat? She had recently told her mother that "those b.......s think I'm snitching". We do not know who provided her w the weed and pills that she sold. She may have thought that if something happened to her, that some dude named Eric was behind it. just speculating here.jmo

I listened to those jury instructions multiple times last night and slept on it. While I do not personally believe QT is innocent, I personally could not vote guilty on evidence provided that he and he alone is guilty of 3rd degree arson, which led to the death of JC. That is what they jury has to be convinced of beyond a reasonable doubt.

How did someone in the crowd know that it was Jessica Chambers? I understand small town and people gathering. Also knowing/seeing her possible vehicle. Some things I just can't get past from crime scene that hold me back.

Was it possible someone threw her cell phone there? Paul C said her phone died at 804pm. The gentlemen that came up on the fire, then called 911 at 809 pm. Testimony from all the LEO no one went past the fence. Who knows, there could have been someone climbed over the fence and hid or escaped that way. I can't get over it not being damaged by the water or the extreme heat from the fire. Crime scene photo of the phone jmho does not even look wet in the leaves. Granted it was 2 1/2 feet from the drivers door approx (which amazes me than no measurements were taken by Dixon 22 yrs on job so 19 approx at time) and they were soaking not spraying per testimony. Still that close one would think it would look wet. Car was allegedly photographed at 930 at the M&M. Car crime scene photos were photographed after JC left scene at 830.
 jmho

Interesting from Judge, the jury can use their notes for only themselves. Can not try use them to convince or even share their notes with anyone else. I am a note taker. That one thing I would always like to do - compare notes with jurors, regardless of the verdict.
