The small college town of Oxford is abuzz as the trial of Sheldon Timothy Herrington Jr. unfolds in connection with the tragic disappearance of Jimmie “Jay” Lee, a beloved 20-year-old graduate student from the University of Mississippi. The 24-year-old Herrington stands accused of capital murder, with the trial capturing significant attention from the community and beyond.

It was July 2022 when Lee, a vibrant figure in the LGBTQ+ community at Ole Miss, went missing. Known for his talents in fashion and makeup, Jay was especially admired for his performances at local drag shows. Despite extensive searches and community efforts, Lee’s body has never been found, but a judge has formally declared him dead. This heartbreaking turn of events has left family, friends, and supporters seeking justice.
Herrington was arrested two weeks after Lee vanished, on July 22, 2022. Authorities grew suspicious during interviews, finding conflicting statements from him. As the investigation unfolded, shocking details came to light, suggesting a sinister connection between the two men.

On the same day Lee went missing, Herrington was seen purchasing duct tape and driving back to his hometown of Grenada, Mississippi. These activities, along with other circumstantial evidence, have raised suspicions among investigators, despite the absence of direct DNA evidence linking him to Lee.

So far all the defense has really gotten out of Dad and G'pa was Timothy worked on the rental properties.

G'pa is trying to explain Timothy heading South out of the home and not getting caught on camera that time by saying he has a rental property out that way. (This is the time he left, came back and then removed the wheel barrow and tools from the back of the box truck)
I have searched many news articles and cannot find the length of time the phone was left at his parents house.

What I am trying to connect here is if he had enough time to go here....

This area is SOUTH of Grenada. (Direction of travel when he left with the wheel barrow and shovel with no cell phone on him) 34 Minute Drive.

After some digging i am replying to myself here (apologies)

In the timeline:
  • From 7:18 until 9:19 p.m., Baker said Herrington's phone pinged near his parents' home, but detectives were unable to confirm if Herrington stayed at the home with his phone the entire time.
(This is the time they believe he disposed of Jay Lee)
That is 2 hours and 1 minute. That is plenty of time to make a 34 minute drive, dispose of said remains and drive back to Mom and Dads.

Jimmies necklace was found with the remains.
My heart goes out to the family.
Now maybe justice can be persued again with some possible additional evidence.

Here's to hoping that Jimmie didn't go down without a fight and got some DNA under those nails!

so happy that this is likely Jay Lee because now they can't say there's no evidence that he is not alive. This discovery, if the remains truly belong to Jay Lee, will ensure TH's conviction this time!

I truly thought this might not ever come. At least his family can know where he is. I hope new evidence can be used to fully prosecute and convict.

OH MY GOD. This case is so close to my heart and as soon as I saw that Jimmie’s remains may have been found I screamed. Oh my god.

If Jimmie is the bad b*tch we all know he was, there will be DNA under his fingernails. Time for TH to be convicted. He should be scared.

Fingers crossed. I hope they can get some good evidence from the remains.

Do you think the accused disclosed the place where the victim was buried/hidden?

I mean,
suddenly the victim is found after so much time when the alleged perp is charged.

Or the searches were constant - IDK.

Or was the victim found by chance by somebody?

I sporadically check this thread
just looking for updates,
and I could have missed some info.

So much time has passed.

I'm glad that the family can at last bury their loved one.

RIP Jimmie.
