A Silver Alert has been issued for a Jackson man who has been missing for a week.

Johnathan Jackson was last seen July 31 driving a red 2009 Ford F-150 pickup truck with license plate HP7 359, police said. The Jackson Police Department released a photo of a truck that looks similar to the one Jackson was driving.

Jackson was last seen at the La Quinta Inn hotel near Interstate 55 in Jackson. He was wearing a green shirt, shorts and Nike flip-flops at the time.

Jackson suffers from a medical condition that may impair his judgment.

Apparently he was found after a landowner spotted a freshly dug up area and called the police.

His body was found in/near Sontag in Lincoln county, quite a distance away from where he was last seen.

This is pretty significant to me. It isn't unheard of here for the last 10 years or so to find bodies that have been taken from the city of Jackson to somewhere in country south of it. But... this is the farthest I can remember hearing of. Plus, the body was buried in a farmer's field and many of the ones we have heard of have either been dumped or burned.

This one is strange to me and does not fit the (sad) norm.
