BREAKING: Man charged with murdering his family members in Jackson

Jackson police are investigating a triple shooting that left three people dead on Sunday morning in south Jackson.

When they arrived on scene, they found a man in a wheelchair just outside the home, and a firearm was near him.

22-year-old Maurice Forte is in custody and charged with 3 counts of murder.

The victims were his family members.
-67-year-old, Eddie Mae Wofford (suspect’s grandmother)
-49-year-old, Miyuki Wofford (suspect’s mother)
-26-year-old, Kyisha Wofford (suspect’s sister).

INSIDE HIS HOME ON MARWOOD DRIVE. POLICE SAY FORTE LATER ADMITTED TO FATALLY SHOOTING HIS GRANDMOTHER, MOTHER, AND SISTER.

JACKSON POLICE SAY WHEN THEY GOT TO THIS HOME ON MARWOOD DRIVE SUNDAY MORNING, THEY DISCOVERED A STUNNING SCENE. "WE HEARD A LOT OF GUNSHOTS WHILE SITTING AT HOME. NEXT THING WE KNOW, A BUNCH OF FIRE AND PEOPLE SHOOTING."

POLICE FOUND A WHEELCHAIR BOUND MAN, 22-YEAR-OLD MICHAEL FORTE, AT THE HOME, A GUN ON THE GROUND NEXT TO HIM. AND SOON AFTER, TELLING INVESTIGATORS HE HAD KILLED THREE WOMEN IN HIS FAMILY, HIS GRANDMOTHER, HIS MOTHER, AND HIS SISTER. "IT’S A SAD SITUATION, BUT THAT’S A FAMILY DOMESTIC. The suspect accused of killing three of his family members following a domestic dispute will now have his charges upgraded.

According to Detective Colendula Green, the incident is now considered a quadruple homicide, after it was confirmed that the suspect’s sister, 26-year-old Kyisha Wofford, was pregnant at the time of death.

Twenty-two-year Maurice Forte, who was already being charged with three counts of murder, will now be charged with capital murder as well.

Forte also murdered his grandmother, 67-year-old Eddie Mae Wofford, and his mother, 49-year-old Miyuki Wofford.
