MSM coverage of Baby Lisa, 10/31/11

I think this explains the timeline change from baby Lisa last seen at 10:30 and now last seen at 6:40. She had to separate herself from that phone call, and in her mind, the only way to do that was present a new story. The story would make it possible that somehow the kidnapper got the baby and the phones before 8:30.

MOO.

Keep in mind her nickname is (Juggalette) Skittles... I have read, on line, that "skittles" is a pop term for a potpourri of pills dropped into a big bowl at parties. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=skittles

Guests come through the door and grab from the smorgasboard.

It can mean that, but I'd venture that it's more commonly known as a street name for DXM. It's a young low cost hallucinogenic.

I could be wrong though, I'm not exactly as street wise as I was when I was a kid.

Jaycee Dugard
Shawn Hornbeck
Ben Ownby
Cole Puffinburger
Elizabeth Smart.....

Until they find a body I believe there is enough hope to warrant my prayers for Lisa.

Absolutely, I'm still hopeful myself. I had just read a few comments that seemed to imply new information made it seem more likely. So I thought something specific had given an indication that one might be more hopeful.

just checking if I missed something important.

where did this come from? TY. or is it just inference seeing as how MW didn't seem to know she got the call?

I think I read that on one of the earlier posts in this thread. Please know it has taken me 2 or more hours to catch up here. I can barely type this. lol I will try to find the post tomorrow. I honestly can't remember if it was a link or just a user post.

i have heard it as a name for DXM, as well as in reference to a bowl o' random pills, and also in reference to ecstasy.

Caught up... still know nothing!! Taped Nancy Grace rerun, will watch tomorrow. Good night, all!!:seeya:

Someone please tell me the description of the man walking down the street with a baby in his arms...

http://abcnews.go.com/US/baby-lisa-irwin-surveillance-footage-mystery-man/story?id=14795844

Mike Thompson described the man as around 5-feet-7, between 140 and 150 pounds and in his late 30s or early 40s.

http://news.yahoo.com/baby-lisa-irwin-case-huge-break-false-alarm-202200617.html

The Irwins' neighbors who first reported seeing a man carrying a baby wearing only a diaper in the early hours of Oct. 4 say the man is not the man they saw. Showed a photo by ABC News, the woman, who has been publicly identified only by her first name, Lisa, said, "No, I don't recognize him." She said the man she and her husband saw was tall and slender and looked to be bald.

Just caught the rerun of NG and wanted to say that I did hear correctly that Ms. Short took Thompson to the police where he was interviewed and shown the photo lineup. Also, for the person earlier who said she thought Thompson said he was visiting his cousin, he did say that he visits his cousin (who lives in the area) on Tuesdays and he was on his way there that morning. FYI.

I still would like to know how it came to be that CS found this witness (via media, a tip, contact by him).

Danger alert!!

I saw a story on Orlando's WFTV late night news broadcast where they were doing a report on baby monitors. This story makes me wonder if someone was eavesdropping on baby Lisa via her monitor.

On the telecast they were showing how with a reciever you can pick up both audio and video (if you have that type) from baby monitors inside homes up to a block away. The reporter drove around a neighborhood picking up the sounds and images. They showed how in one case the image got clearer the closer you got to the house, in the end they had a perfect view of a baby in a crib from outside the home.

They then showed them talking to a lady (not sure if it was the one whose baby they saw) explaining their experiment and she said she was turning off her monitor now.

Reporter said the only way to prevent people from eavedropping inside your home via your monitor is if your have the type of monitor that use an encryted frequency. These type of units are more expensive, they said around $300.

I just checked the WFTV website and don't see that story listed there yet. I will check on it again tommorrow to see it they add it but I just wanted to share this with you all now as it is so very creepy.

I also googled baby monitors and found this article about them.

Quite a few interesting developments... my random thoughts:

* While all of this is new information to us here at WS, it is certainly not new information to Law Enforcement. They would have already searched MW's house and spoken to everyone with access to that phone.

* I HIGHLY doubt Deborah had this number written on her hand. No freaking way. People write a number on their hand when it's a number that is new to them, they dont have anything better to write it on, and they don't have a phone to program it into -- if this is so, who gave that number to Deborah that night, and why?

* I wonder who else called that number that evening. Could Debby's drinking buddy be on that list?

* The Juggalo thing means nothing.

* I think it is still likely that the simplest explanation is the correct answer, and that Deborah (drunk or high or depressed or whatever) did something to that baby.

* We do not really know what time this call took place.

* I think we will see an arrest very very soon here.

I have a question

my phone is a android and it has wifi calling, would the wifi work with a free wifi connection if the phone was turned off for no payment ?

I think so as my son has some type of smart touchscreen phone and he can actually text to other people's cells without using his minutes via wifi.

MW is "leaking" whatever she wants. DB is "leaking" whatever she wants. The attorney's are "leaking" whatever they want.

SHOW ME one thing that LE has "leaked" in this case? LE isn't giving anyone a "scoop" they are being highly professional. Just because you have a bunch of mis-fits saying LE is saying something, doesn't mean it's true. Until I hear LE specifically confirm or deny anything, I will put my faith in them. IMO, everyone else has something to gain or lose, not LE. They just want justice for baby Lisa.

Interesting enough that adds up to those close to DB 'leaking whatever they want'.

Angelwings I like your path. I'll put my faith in LE.

The last paragraph says that the FBI tracked MW down through "an online (I heard Craigslist) advertisement for an electronics item" that specified her phone number. I've seen on other boards that the item she was selling was a GPS unit. Jersey's last arrest on 10/13 was for "tampering with a motor vehicle".
Wasn't Jeremy's car broken into several weeks earlier?
Could Jersey have stolen a GPS from Jeremy's car? Could MW have tried to sell it on Craigslist? Maybe DB got wind of it?

I don't know where this is all going, but I do think that all of these people are tied up with each other in bad ways.

Exactly what I was thinking when I heard about the GPS, they are a hot item for car theives. And yes, JI's car was broken into, wondered too if he had one taken from it.

Then again cell phones have become a hot item for thefts. This statement from MW on that same article:

"We have eight people that live here and only one cell phone at the time so it was pretty much community (property)," she said. "Whoever needed my phone."

At the time??? Makes me wonder how many cells are in that house now?

I saw that too and it reminded me of my neighbor saying something one morning that made no sense an she said that she must have heard me say it on the baby monitor since there’s picked up mine. Well, we never owned one so we tried to figure out who she was hearing talk to their toddler. It did creep me out that she thought it was us since I don’t know what was going on on it. Glad now that I never owned one and will mention this if I ever become a grandmother.

I have to admit the gps and the "at the time" both perked my ears- for the reasons implied.

I don't know how one gets from larceny to abduction or helping stash a body.

That was one of my first thoughts. If she wrote it on her hand, it's new. And new numbers aren't usually the numbers you call for covering up a murder. And of course, if that was the number she used to cover a crime, and she remembered to dispose of the phones, I'm pretty darned confident she would wash her hands. Pen comes off easily.

But as always, I'm just sitting back and waiting to hear more...

Regarding baby monitors- we used to always pick up random neighbors when we would turn ours on. It was rather creepy. We only used ours here and there though, as they weren't really important in our regular arrangement.

At 4 am he was going to visit his cousin? It was originally reported he was going home from work. And he also said he contacted LE about a week after the fact, so I don't understand how the defense lawyer came into this picture.
"Mike Thompson told ABC News that he was on his way home from work around 4 a.m. on Oct. 4 when he saw a man in a T-shirt carrying a baby at an intersection about three miles from the Irwin home."

jjenny, there is a lot of conflicting information in this case. I don't know what to believe. The transcript is up now: http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1110/31/ng.01.html

Here are the two items I referenced:

UNIDENTIFIED MALE [Thompson]: Seen this guy walking with -- carrying something. Maybe. I got off work about 4:00. And on Tuesday mornings I go visit my cousin here on 48 Terrace. And I was on the way down. I was on my bike. And I came down this exit. And I seen a guy walking over here.

.....

SPELLMAN [Reporter]: So he -- he has no connection to these people at all and he picked this person out. Cindy Short, the attorney until the other day, of Deborah and Jeremy, took him to the police. He was interviewed for two hours and showed a mugshot. He specifically said a mugshot by police. And ID`d the same man to the police.
