I promise you the average African American suffers all sorts of insults every day, every thing from "driving while black" to being shadowed in stores to being ignored in restaurants to well-meaning but condescending comments about "you people."
99% of the time, those insults are received graciously and silently by African Americans. If they weren't, we'd have rioting in the streets every day of every year.
Can you prove this? They're insulted every single day??
I'm so laughing at "driving while black" Nova!! My sons always use that term. It's sad but
TRUE and I have more first hand experience than I can count with my sons.
Grandparents bought my then 17 year old son a beautiful Cadillac Eldorado, about 4 years old. He search for a full year to find that particular color. It was his dream car, He worked and saved his money since he was 14, and bought expensive chrome bling rims for it. I kid you not, he was getting pulled over
at least once a week!!!!
Every time he was pulled from the car and handcuffed on the curb. He's even been told by police "You must be selling drugs to be driving a car like this". He's been pulled over for the following "reasons": stopping over the white line at an intersection, failing to come to a complete stop, suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle, outdated registration (was good for 8 more months), failure to signal turning in a driveway on a residential street of 4 houses and no other traffic, speeding, running a red light when it just turned yellow but the pickup a full car length behind him was not stopped, the list goes on and on. Each time he would call me as soon as police lights came on. I'd ask what he got pulled over for, his response was always "A DWB in a suspicious vehicle". (Meaning driving while black in a Cadillac) The final straw for me was when both sons were in the Caddy, other one 16 y/o, got pulled over because the cops said they "heard" drugs were in the car. They were going to pick up pizza. (My 17 y/o was a jr in high school and had a job to pay for gas and half the insurance) Cops opened the doors and yanked 17 y/o out with a GUN to his head!! Didn't ask for license, registration, insurance, nothing!!! Both were cuffed on the curb with an officer holding a gun on them, and threatened with "your black a$$ is going to jail for a long time" when they "found something". The car was searched WITHOUT permission. He told the police I was on the way, and I would give permission when I was present for the search, Just as I got 3 blocsk from the stop, all 4, yes 4! police cars left. I asked my sons about it, he said they told him, "Hey dude, you're free to go". WTF!!!!! I immediately took my boys to the police station and raised holy hell, demanded to see the in car video & filed a formal complaint!!! :furious: I was just tired of the BS & putting a GUN to my kids head for NO reason is outrageous. I had an 9 year old Pontiac Grand Am the boys would drive because it was a gas saver. You betcha...they
never got pulled over in the hooptie. Yes, racial profiling and harrassment goes on everyday, and my kids are multi-racial with darker skin. :banghead:
 When it was my 16 y/o, straight A, talented and gifted student, turn to buy a car, he originally wanted a Lexus. He told his Grandma, from the way his brother was treated, he'd feel
safer buying a Honda or something so the police wouldn't bother him...now how sad is that? This post was pretty long, and that's just some of the experiences my sons, who are viewed as African Americans have dealt with. And they've done NOTHING to deserve it!!!
To the poster who wanted proof it happens, there it is. And I haven't even talked about the experiences of their Black friends who are not gang members, drug users, or drug dealers...But decent kids from decent families who drive nice cars.
