Circumstances of Disappearance: Frey, an experienced hunter and woodsman, left his home in Missoula to hunt up Deep Creek and never returned. It snowed on the day he left home and the following day. Friends, family and law enforcement searched extensively, but remains were never found. Frey may have walked into any of several other drainages in the area including Petty Creek.

Human remains were found June 29th of this year on Deep Creek Road. The process of identifying the remains continues at this time. Mr. Frey went missing in the same area in 1960. Would remains/bones still be present after all these years? I am wondering if there is any possibility that this could be Frederick Frey. (MOO)

The Missoula County Sheriff's Office reports the remains, which were found on June 29, 2024, on Deep Creek Road, have not been able to be identified. Additionally, the cause of death has yet to be determined.
