37-year-old Michelle Sorrows has been missing since late July. On Nov. 30, Stanley Gordon Bernardini of Ennis was arrested in connection with the investigation.

An anonymous source told a Division of Criminal Investigation official that Bernardini murdered Sorrows and buried her body “in a remote area” on a Madison County ranch.

In one conversation, Bernardini allegedly told the source about a physical confrontation with Sorrows leading to her death.

Bernardini denied having anything to do with her disappearance and death. Bernardini was charged with tampering or fabricating physical evidence, a felony. He was also charged with criminal possession of dangerous drugs and paraphernalia, two misdemeanors. As of Dec. 4, his bail is set at $100,000.

Stanley Gordon Bernardini, 56, is scheduled to stand trial starting March 9 for charges of deliberate homicide and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, both felonies. Bernardini is being held at the Gallatin County jail on $100,000 bail.

Authorities found Michelle Sorrows’ body on June 3 where Bernardini told an informant that he had buried her, according to court documents. Sorrows was last seen in Ennis about a year ago and reported missing in August.
