I have a few questions:
What became of the DV accusations of DB? IIRR he had to go to court in September.
Did DB did his veteran charity diner on Thanksgiving yesterday?

Also wanted to add that in my world it's very strange there are seemingly no rules applied to employees of a professional elderly service about what and how can be communicated on social media as a professional. If this would happen here they would probably been laid off immediately. Just to say......not to mention the "caretaker" handing over personal stuff.

I agree. It should not be happening here either. Maybe the agency isn't aware of her conduct?

The DV case has been continued to March 2022. The Bootlegger bar has since closed down. I have not seen or heard of a repeat this year of the annual Thanksgiving charity dinner.

Thanks @laurawlms and other's addressing this issue. My eyes getting bigger and bigger reading about it. I think it's absolutely ridiculous having a combination of jobs like this as a Sheriff/LE representative. In the Netherlands this would be absolutely unimaginable and this person's integrity would seriously be questioned. Even stronger......everybody working for the government or related to has to declare in writing what other jobs (paid or non-paid) they have and management will look into them. If they have the slightest idea there are possible conflicting interests (or even if there could be a tiny chance the public could get that impression), the other job has to go. For some positions, by law, all other activities have to be in the public domain/published, even if there are no conflicting interests. Of course, there will always be issues that raise eyebrows, but it's a big thing in our country. Totally not done.

Country issues/differences certainly are present, as are laws from state to state and city to county and town. Add to that the 'non-sleuthing' policy of WS, and we are left with only a small part of the total picture. Politics (frequently accompanied by money) has a tendency to override common sense or job descriptions - and that can run amok in small ('low visibility') towns. Any attempt to run a 'clean ship' - at any level of govt - depends on the will of leadership to do so.

MY NON-EXPERT OPINION ONLY!

I know things are different in the US, been around for a while, always been intrigued about the differences, but that doesn't make it right. There are some background forces, connections, mutual interests, going on in this community, we can't see from the outside and are troubling to Rebekah's case and how it is handled, IMO.

So if I understand correctly:

The police and a private investigator are sometimes the same person. If a family was getting nowhere with the police in their investigation of a missing loved one, they could pay for a private investigator, who is the same person. The PI could then use police files and information gleaned at public expense to carry out an investigation for profit. This is what "working with" private investigators means? So are families in effect being held for ransom if they do not pay for a private investigation of exactly the same case by exactly the same person, and all this is perfectly legal? In effect, not hiring the PI potentially means cases are left without resolution? Pay up or shut up? Wow, just wow! Double wow!

Also, there are not state-wide rules and regulations governing police standards and police conduct, but each city, town and hamlet does their own thing? Groovy, man!

You can see that I am having a hard time comprehending this. Also thinking a vacation to Montana, as so many people do where I live, is not a good idea. I wouldn't like to be disappeared, or to put my family through that ordeal.

Didn't mean to make it sound like a complete zoo -- yes, there are state laws (and State Police) and standards. How they get implemented /audited, however, depends a lot on the competence, resources and will of each actor, and the political environment. As with any group of thousands (?millions), results will vary widely!

MOO

Rebekah's mom had an open to public meeting with the County Commissioners regarding Rebekah's missing case. I hope she writes an update to the FB page so I can share the information here. But it sounds as though they sided with her.

Hi @laurawlms. I hope you don't mind I copy this post from the Facebook site Find Rebekah Barsotti posted on 27-11-2021....couldn't resist it because it's such great breaking news. Log into Facebook

THANKYOU! To each and every person who came to the County Commissioners Meeting in Mineral County, Superior, MT on November 26, 2021. You made a difference! The Commissioners have asked Sheriff Toth to contact Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to step in and assist with this investigation regarding Rebekah's Missing Person Case. This is a huge step forward in getting to the truth of Rebekah's disappearance on July 20, 2021. Rebekah's case cannot be labeled an "accident" unless you have a witness. We submitted this request to the County Commissioners on behalf of Rebekah as well as the residents of Mineral County. Again, thankyou! Your support is acknowledged and greatly appreciated. Each person present made a difference!

Also a suggestion. I know Rebekah's case is everywhere with the surname Barsotti, her married name. Shouldn't we give her back her maiden name, disconnecting her from DB, who wasn't good for her and IMO doesn't deserve her carrying his name.

The heading of the thread is established by the owner of websleuths. But her maiden name is Rose.

Thank you. If we can get some cadaver dogs.....I don't think we will ever find her without them with this much time lapsed.
