I received an email reply to my FOIA request for the 911 transcript today. Denied - citing Confidential Criminal Justice Information and a pending investigation. I knew that was coming but I don't agree with their reason for denial based on what I have read regarding 911 calls being public information.

Of course it was denied. However, I think you have a pretty strong case on appeal. There can be no interference with a pending criminal investigation, if there is no criminal investigation ongoing.

It seems to me that police in Mineral County lack 21st century knowledge about domestic violence and coercive control. I've posted these research-based articles elsewhere at WS. These are findings from hundreds of cases. These are the facts:

• A pre-relationship history of stalking or abuse by the perpetrator
• The romance developing quickly into a serious relationship
• The relationship becoming dominated by coercive control
• A trigger to threaten the perpetrator's control - for example, the relationship ends or the perpetrator gets into financial difficulty
• Escalation - an increase in the intensity or frequency of the partner's control tactics, such as by stalking or threatening suicide
• The perpetrator has a change in thinking - choosing to move on, either through revenge or by homicide
• Planning - the perpetrator might buy weapons or seek opportunities to get the victim alone
• Homicide - the perpetrator kills his or her partner, and possibly hurts others such as the victim's children

The second article cites 10 risk factors for when women are killed. It is based on 267 domestic violence cases between 2003-2015, leading to domestic homicide.

Coercive control - Womens Aid

Coercive control is explained as follows:

• Isolating you from friends and family
• Depriving you of basic needs, such as food
• Monitoring your time
• Monitoring you via online communication tools or spyware
• Taking control over aspects of your everyday life, such as where you can go, who you can see, what you can wear and when you can sleep
• Depriving you access to support services, such as medical services
• Repeatedly putting you down, such as saying you’re worthless
• Humiliating, degrading or dehumanising you
• Controlling your finances
• Making threats or intimidating you

How many of the warning signs for domestic homicide did Rebekah have? How many methods of coercive control did others observe and Rebekah report? How can domestic homicide not be considered a possibility in light of past history?

Yes HEAVILY sanitized. So disappointing they didn't share the information about domestic violence charges and the Standing Order of No Contact. Those important facts change the entire makeup of the case and how it should be handled. The estranged husband was ruled out by an inner circle "alibi". The same person that handed off the personal items to Rebekah.

Yes it does matter. If the police had approached this case with facts based on research, and bothered to learn about coercive control, the whole scope of this investigation would have been different from the start. Instead, precious time has been wasted and possible evidence destroyed. No police force should close its mind about a case that hasn't been solved. Tunnel vision!

Angela is right about people being drawn to Rebekah and Rebekah's story without understanding why. Rebekah's story is compelling, and Rebekah didn't deserve this. It all seems "off". Her family deserves the truth, whatever that is. It is hard to see Angela in so much pain.

I keep thinking about what police say where I live about unsolved cases. They say that allegiances change with the passage of time. Recently a murderer was brought to justice in a decades-old cold case. He was turned in by his own sister, who had noted changes in the story he told over the years, and became suspicious. He was found guilty. It happens, but I hope for resolution much sooner for Rebekah's family.

BTW, I would never take off my glasses in an emergency situation. Only someone who does not wear glasses would think that. It does not make sense at all: another fly in this greasy ointment!

I have never before heard of LE asking the public to show them the evidence in a case, but that happened in last night's TV interview. I have heard LE asking for tips and information. "Evidence" is up to the police.

So anyways, since evidence is up to us as observers, with none of the power and authority of the police, I would like to see this list from the weeks prior to Rebekah's disappearance:

I would like to propose that LE in Montana look for evidence themselves, instead of waiting for the public to do it. A person like me cannot get a search warrant, etc. As much as I would like to browse the case files, etc., they are in the hands of LE, <modsnip>
