OCT 10

The family of Sawade Birdinground said search dogs were combing the area near the girl's rural home.

She was last seen at her home on Sunday night but she wasn't there in the morning when family went to wake her up.

Black Eagle described his niece as quiet and reserved.

"She's pretty quiet. I would say pretty shy and reserved. But she's a sweet girl," said Black Eagle Sunday. "She has a learning disability, but she's just like a regular teenager."

It's been harrowing for her family as they continue the search.

Garryowen is a private town in Big Horn County, Montana, United States. It is located at the southernmost edge of the land where Sitting Bull's camp was sited just prior to the Battle of the Little Bighorn, and the opening gunshots of the battle were fired only a few hundred yards from where Garryowen's structures stand today.

Wow, this seems to be an extremely rural area. Where is Sawade? Did someone pick her up?

OCT 16 (the article states that Sa'wade has autism).

Even K-9 and canoe teams have led to zero indication of where Sa’wade is, but this community won’t give up on the girl with autism who disappeared from her bedroom on a fall Sunday night, leaving behind her phone, her important headphones and a family who loves her.

FBI has joined the case.

She has never run away from home or been in any serious trouble. Her disappearance from home is totally out of character for her, and her family is very concerned about her.

Can anyone explain what a "private town" means, either in terms of Montana or more generally?

From the Billings chamber of commerce website, there is an article about Garryowen. It says: "The town is now privately owned and operated by Christopher Kortlander."

Unless Sa'wade is significantly intellectually disabled, which seems unlikely since her family says she's a relatively "normal" teenage girl, drowning seems unlikely. Nearly all drowning deaths amongst autistic people occur with young kids and/or those with significant intellectual disabilities- ie. those who aren't aware of the danger. Also, the attraction to water is far from universal. I was never drawn to water, and to this day I hate having wet hair.

I hope they've checked her devices/social media. She went missing from such an isolated area, she couldn't have gotten far unless someone picked her up.
